2 Chronicles 28 Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD, like David his father:

2 H3212 For he walked H1870 in the ways H4428 of the kings H3478 of Israel, H6213 and made H1571 also H4541 molten H1168 images for Baalim.

3 H6999 Moreover he burnt H6999 incense H1516 in the valley H1121 of the son H2011 of Hinnom, H1197 and burnt H1121 his children H784 in the fire, H8441 after the abominations H1471 of the heathen H834 whom H3068 the LORD H3423 had cast H6440 out before H1121 the children H3478 of Israel.

4 H2076 He sacrificed H6999 also and burnt H6999 incense H1116 in the high H5921 places, and on H1389 the hills, H8478 and under H3605 every H7488 green H6086 tree.

5 H3068 Why the LORD H430 his God H5414 delivered H3027 him into the hand H4428 of the king H758 of Syria; H5221 and they smote H7617 him, and carried H7617 away H1419 a great H7633 multitude of them captives, H935 and brought H1834 them to Damascus. H5414 And he was also delivered H3027 into the hand H4428 of the king H3478 of Israel, H5221 who smote H1419 him with a great H4347 slaughter.

6 H6492 For Pekah H1121 the son H7425 of Remaliah H2026 slew H3063 in Judah H3967 an hundred H6242 and twenty H505 thousand H259 in one H3117 day, H3605 which were all H2428 valiant H1121 men; H5800 because they had forsaken H3068 the LORD H430 God H1 of their fathers.

7 H2147 And Zichri, H1368 a mighty H669 man of Ephraim, H2026 slew H4641 Maaseiah H4428 the king’s H1121 son, H5840 and Azrikam H5057 the governor H1004 of the house, H511 and Elkanah H4932 that was next H4428 to the king.

8 H1121 And the children H3478 of Israel H7617 carried H7617 away captive H251 of their brothers H3967 two hundred H505 thousand, H802 women, H1121 sons, H1323 and daughters, H1571 and took also H7227 away much H7998 spoil H935 from them, and brought H7998 the spoil H8111 to Samaria.

9 H5030 But a prophet H3068 of the LORD H8033 was there, H8034 whose name H5752 was Oded: H3318 and he went H6440 out before H6635 the host H935 that came H8111 to Samaria, H559 and said H2009 to them, Behold, H3068 because the LORD H430 God H1 of your fathers H2534 was wroth H3063 with Judah, H5414 he has delivered H3027 them into your hand, H2026 and you have slain H2197 them in a rage H5060 that reaches H8064 up to heaven.

10 H6258 And now H559 you purpose H3533 to keep H1121 under the children H3063 of Judah H3389 and Jerusalem H5650 for slaves H8198 and bondwomen H7535 to you: but are there not with you, even H819 with you, sins H3068 against the LORD H430 your God?

11 H6258 Now H8085 hear H7725 me therefore, and deliver H7633 the captives H834 again, which H7617 you have taken captive H251 of your brothers: H2740 for the fierce H639 wrath H3068 of the LORD is on you.

12 H582 Then certain H7218 of the heads H1121 of the children H669 of Ephraim, H5838 Azariah H1121 the son H3076 of Johanan, H1296 Berechiah H1121 the son H4919 of Meshillemoth, H3169 and Jehizkiah H1121 the son H7967 of Shallum, H6021 and Amasa H1121 the son H2311 of Hadlai, H6965 stood H5921 up against H935 them that came H6635 from the war,

13 H559 And said H935 to them, You shall not bring H7633 in the captives H3588 here: for whereas H819 we have offended H3068 against the LORD H559 already, you intend H3254 to add H2403 more to our sins H819 and to our trespass: H819 for our trespass H7227 is great, H2740 and there is fierce H639 wrath H5921 against H3478 Israel.

14 H2502 So the armed H5800 men left H7633 the captives H961 and the spoil H6440 before H8269 the princes H3605 and all H6951 the congregation.

15 H582 And the men H834 which H5344 were expressed H8034 by name H6965 rose H2388 up, and took H7633 the captives, H7998 and with the spoil H3847 clothed H3605 all H4636 that were naked H3847 among them, and arrayed H5274 them, and shod H398 them, and gave them to eat H8248 and to drink, H4886 and anointed H5095 them, and carried H3605 all H3782 the feeble H2543 of them on asses, H935 and brought H3405 them to Jericho, H5892 the city H8558 of palm H251 trees, to their brothers: H7725 then they returned H8111 to Samaria.

16 H6256 At that time H4428 did king H271 Ahaz H7971 send H4428 to the kings H804 of Assyria H5826 to help him.

17 H5750 For again H130 the Edomites H935 had come H5221 and smitten H3063 Judah, H7617 and carried H7628 away captives.

18 H6430 The Philistines H6584 also had invaded H5892 the cities H8219 of the low H5045 country, and of the south H3063 of Judah, H3920 and had taken H1053 Bethshemesh, H357 and Ajalon, H1450 and Gederoth, H7755 and Shocho H1323 with the villages H8553 thereof, and Timnah H1323 with the villages H1579 thereof, Gimzo H1323 also and the villages H3427 thereof: and they dwelled H8033 there.

19 H3068 For the LORD H3665 brought H3063 Judah H3665 low H5668 because H271 of Ahaz H4428 king H3478 of Israel; H6213 for he made H3063 Judah H6544 naked, H4603 and transgressed H3068 sore against the LORD.

20 H8407 And Tilgathpilneser H4428 king H804 of Assyria H935 came H6696 to him, and distressed H2388 him, but strengthened him not.

21 H271 For Ahaz H2505 took away a portion H1004 out of the house H3068 of the LORD, H1004 and out of the house H4428 of the king, H8269 and of the princes, H5414 and gave H4428 it to the king H804 of Assyria: H5833 but he helped him not.

22 H6256 And in the time H6887 of his distress H4603 did he trespass H3254 yet more H3068 against the LORD: H1931 this H4428 is that king H271 Ahaz.

23 H2076 For he sacrificed H430 to the gods H1834 of Damascus, H5221 which smote H559 him: and he said, H3588 Because H430 the gods H4428 of the kings H758 of Syria H5826 help H2076 them, therefore will I sacrifice H5826 to them, that they may help H3782 me. But they were the ruin H3605 of him, and of all H3478 Israel.

24 H271 And Ahaz H622 gathered H3627 together the vessels H1004 of the house H430 of God, H7112 and cut H3627 in pieces the vessels H1004 of the house H430 of God, H5462 and shut H1817 up the doors H1004 of the house H3068 of the LORD, H6213 and he made H4196 him altars H3605 in every H6438 corner H3389 of Jerusalem.

25 H3605 And in every H5892 several city H3063 of Judah H6213 he made H1116 high H6999 places to burn H6999 incense H312 to other H430 gods, H3707 and provoked to anger H3068 the LORD H430 God H1 of his fathers.

26 H3499 Now the rest H1697 of his acts H3605 and of all H1870 his ways, H7223 first H314 and last, H2009 behold, H3789 they are written H5612 in the book H4428 of the kings H3063 of Judah H3478 and Israel.

27 H271 And Ahaz H7901 slept H1 with his fathers, H6912 and they buried H5892 him in the city, H3389 even in Jerusalem: H935 but they brought H6913 him not into the sepulchers H4428 of the kings H3478 of Israel: H2396 and Hezekiah H1121 his son H4427 reigned H8478 in his stead.
