Haggai In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of Jehovah by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,

1 H8147 In the second H8141 year H1867 of Darius H4428 the king, H8345 in the sixth H2320 month, H259 in the first H3117 day H2320 of the month, H1697 came the word H3068 of Jehovah H3027 by H2292 Haggai H5030 the prophet H2216 unto Zerubbabel H1121 the son H7597 of Shealtiel, H6346 governor H3063 of Judah, H3091 and to Joshua H1121 the son H3087 of Jehozadak, H1419 the high H3548 priest, H559 saying,

2 H559 Thus speaketh H3068 Jehovah H6635 of hosts, H559 saying, H5971 This people H559 say, H6256 It is not the time H935 for us to come, H6256 the time H3068 for Jehovah's H1004 house H1129 to be built.

3 H1697 Then came the word H3068 of Jehovah H3027 by H2292 Haggai H5030 the prophet, H559 saying,

4 H6256 Is it a time H3427 for you yourselves to dwell H5603 in your ceiled H1004 houses, H1004 while this house H2720 lieth waste?

5 H559 Now therefore thus saith H3068 Jehovah H6635 of hosts: H7760 Consider H1870 your ways.

6 H2232 Ye have sown H7235 much, H935 and bring H4592 in little; H398 ye eat, H7654 but ye have not enough; H8354 ye drink, H7937 but ye are not filled with drink; H3847 ye clothe H2527 you, but there is none warm; H7936 and he that earneth wages H7936 earneth wages H6872 to put it into a bag H5344 with holes.

7 H559 Thus saith H3068 Jehovah H6635 of hosts: H7760 Consider H1870 your ways.

8 H5927 Go up H2022 to the mountain, H935 and bring H6086 wood, H1129 and build H1004 the house; H7521 and I will take pleasure H3513 in it, and I will be glorified, H559 saith H3068 Jehovah.

9 H6437 Ye looked H7235 for much, H4592 and, lo, it came to little; H935 and when ye brought H1004 it home, H5301 I did blow H5002 upon it. Why? saith H3068 Jehovah H6635 of hosts. H3282 Because H1004 of my house H2720 that lieth waste, H7323 while ye run H376 every man H1004 to his own house.

10 H8064 Therefore for your sake the heavens H3607 withhold H2919 the dew, H776 and the earth H3607 withholdeth H2981 its fruit.

11 H7121 And I called H2721 for a drought H776 upon the land, H2022 and upon the mountains, H1715 and upon the grain, H8492 and upon the new wine, H3323 and upon the oil, H127 and upon that which the ground H3318 bringeth forth, H120 and upon men, H929 and upon cattle, H3018 and upon all the labor H3709 of the hands.

12 H2216 Then Zerubbabel H1121 the son H7597 of Shealtiel, H3091 and Joshua H1121 the son H3087 of Jehozadak, H1419 the high H3548 priest, H7611 with all the remnant H5971 of the people, H8085 obeyed H6963 the voice H3068 of Jehovah H430 their God, H1697 and the words H2292 of Haggai H5030 the prophet, H3068 as Jehovah H430 their God H7971 had sent H5971 him; and the people H3372 did fear H6440 before H3068 Jehovah.

13 H559 Then spake H2292 Haggai H3068 Jehovah's H4397 messenger H3068 in Jehovah's H4400 message H5971 unto the people, H559 saying, H5002 I am with you, saith H3068 Jehovah.

14 H3068 And Jehovah H5782 stirred up H7307 the spirit H2216 of Zerubbabel H1121 the son H7597 of Shealtiel, H6346 governor H3063 of Judah, H7307 and the spirit H3091 of Joshua H1121 the son H3087 of Jehozadak, H1419 the high H3548 priest, H7307 and the spirit H7611 of all the remnant H5971 of the people; H935 and they came H6213 and did H4399 work H1004 on the house H3068 of Jehovah H6635 of hosts, H430 their God,

15 H702 in the four H6242 and twentieth H3117 day H8345 of the month, in the sixth H2320 month, H8147 in the second H8141 year H1867 of Darius H4428 the king.
