Jeremiah 4 If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith Jehovah, if thou wilt return unto me, and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight; then shalt thou not be removed;

2 H7650 and thou shalt swear, H3068 As Jehovah H2416 liveth, H571 in truth, H4941 in justice, H6666 and in righteousness; H1471 and the nations H1288 shall bless H1984 themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

3 H559 For thus saith H3068 Jehovah H376 to the men H3063 of Judah H3389 and to Jerusalem, H5214 Break up H5215 your fallow ground, H2232 and sow H6975 not among thorns.

4 H4135 Circumcise H3068 yourselves to Jehovah, H5493 and take away H6190 the foreskins H3824 of your heart, H376 ye men H3063 of Judah H3427 and inhabitants H3389 of Jerusalem; H2534 lest my wrath H3318 go forth H784 like fire, H1197 and burn H3518 so that none can quench H6440 it, because H7455 of the evil H4611 of your doings.

5 H5046 Declare H3063 ye in Judah, H8085 and publish H3389 in Jerusalem; H559 and say, H8628 Blow H7782 ye the trumpet H776 in the land: H7121 cry H4390 aloud H559 and say, H622 Assemble H935 yourselves, and let us go H4013 into the fortified H5892 cities.

6 H5375 Set up H5251 a standard H6726 toward Zion: H5756 flee for safety, H5975 stay H935 not; for I will bring H7451 evil H6828 from the north, H1419 and a great H7667 destruction.

7 H738 A lion H5927 is gone up H5441 from his thicket, H7843 and a destroyer H1471 of nations; H5265 he is on his way, H3318 he is gone forth H4725 from his place, H7760 to make H776 thy land H8047 desolate, H5892 that thy cities H5327 be laid waste, H3427 without inhabitant.

8 H2296 For this gird H8242 you with sackcloth, H5594 lament H3213 and wail; H2740 for the fierce H639 anger H3068 of Jehovah H7725 is not turned back from us.

9 H3117 And it shall come to pass at that day, H5002 saith H3068 Jehovah, H3820 that the heart H4428 of the king H6 shall perish, H3820 and the heart H8269 of the princes; H3548 and the priests H8074 shall be astonished, H5030 and the prophets H8539 shall wonder.

17 H8104 As keepers H7704 of a field H5439 are they against her round about, H4784 because she hath been rebellious H5002 against me, saith H3068 Jehovah.

18 H1870 Thy way H4611 and thy doings H6213 have procured H7451 these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness; H4751 for it is bitter, H5060 for it reacheth H3820 unto thy heart.

21 H7200 How long shall I see H5251 the standard, H8085 and hear H6963 the sound H7782 of the trumpet?

22 H5971 For my people H191 are foolish, H3045 they know H5530 me not; they are sottish H1121 children, H995 and they have no understanding; H2450 they are wise H7489 to do evil, H3190 but to do good H3045 they have no knowledge.

23 H7200 I beheld H776 the earth, H8414 and, lo, it was waste H922 and void; H8064 and the heavens, H216 and they had no light.

24 H7200 I beheld H2022 the mountains, H7493 and, lo, they trembled, H1389 and all the hills H7043 moved to and fro.

25 H7200 I beheld, H120 and, lo, there was no man, H5775 and all the birds H8064 of the heavens H5074 were fled.

26 H7200 I beheld, H3759 and, lo, the fruitful field H4057 was a wilderness, H5892 and all the cities H5422 thereof were broken down H6440 at the presence H3068 of Jehovah, H2740 and before his fierce H639 anger.

27 H559 For thus saith H3068 Jehovah, H776 The whole land H8077 shall be a desolation; H6213 yet will I not make H3617 a full end.

28 H776 For this shall the earth H56 mourn, H8064 and the heavens H4605 above H6937 be black; H1696 because I have spoken H2161 it, I have purposed H5162 it, and I have not repented, H7725 neither will I turn back from it.

29 H5892 Every city H1272 fleeth H6963 for the noise H6571 of the horsemen H7198 and bowmen; H935 they go H5645 into the thickets, H5927 and climb up H3710 upon the rocks: H5892 every city H5800 is forsaken, H376 and not a man H3427 dwelleth H2004 therein.

30 H7703 And thou, when thou art made desolate, H6213 what wilt thou do? H3847 Though thou clothest H8144 thyself with scarlet, H5710 though thou deckest H5716 thee with ornaments H2091 of gold, H7167 though thou enlargest H5869 thine eyes H6320 with paint, H7723 in vain H3302 dost thou make thyself fair; H5689 thy lovers H3988 despise H1245 thee, they seek H5315 thy life.

31 H8085 For I have heard H6963 a voice H2470 as of a woman in travail, H6869 the anguish H1069 as of her that bringeth forth her first child, H6963 the voice H1323 of the daughter H6726 of Zion, H3306 that gaspeth H6566 for breath, that spreadeth H3709 her hands, H188 saying, Woe H5315 is me now! for my soul H5888 fainteth H2026 before the murderers.
