Matthew 2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, Wise-men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying,

2 G4226 Where G2076 is G3588 he G2076 that is G5088 born G935 King G2453 of the Jews? G1063 for G1492 we saw G846 his G792 star G1722 in G395 the east, G2532 and G2064 are come G4352 to worship G846 him.

3 G1161 And when G2264 Herod G935 the king G191 heard G5015 it, he was troubled, G2532 and G3956 all G2414 Jerusalem G3326 with G846 him.

4 G2532 And G4863 gathering G4863 together G3956 all G749 the chief priests G2532 and G1122 scribes G2992 of the people, G4441 he inquired G3844 of G846 them G4226 where G5547 the Christ G1080 should be born.

5 G1161 And G2036 they said G846 unto him, G1722 In G965 Bethlehem G2449 of Judaea: G1063 for G3779 thus G1125 it is written G1223 through G4396 the prophet,

6 G2532 And G4771 thou G965 Bethlehem, G1093 land G2448 of Judah, G1488 art G3760 in no G1646 wise least G1722 among G2232 the princes G1537 of G2448 Judah: G1063 for G1537 out of G4675 thee G1831 shall come G2233 forth a governor, G4165 who shall be shepherd G3450 of my G2992 people G2474 Israel.

7 G5119 Then G2264 Herod G2977 privily G2564 called G3097 the Wise-men, G198 and learned G3844 of G846 them G198 exactly G5550 what time G792 the star G5316 appeared.

8 G2532 And G3992 he sent G846 them G1519 to G965 Bethlehem, G2036 and said, G4198 Go G1833 and search G4012 out exactly G199 concerning G3813 the young child; G1161 and G1875 when G2147 ye have found G518 him, bring G3427 me G518 word, G3704 that G2504 I G2504 also G2064 may come G4352 and worship G846 him.

9 G1161 And G191 they, having heard G935 the king, G4198 went G2532 their way; and G2400 lo, G792 the star, G3739 which G1492 they saw G1722 in G395 the east, G4254 went before G846 them, G2193 till G2064 it came G2476 and stood G1883 over G3757 where G3813 the young child G2258 was.

10 G1161 And when G1492 they saw G792 the star, G5463 they rejoiced G4970 with exceeding G3173 great G5479 joy.

11 G2532 And G2064 they came G1519 into G3614 the house G2147 and saw G3813 the young child G3326 with G3137 Mary G846 his G3384 mother; G2532 and G4098 they fell down G2532 and G4352 worshipped G846 him; G2532 and G846 opening their G2344 treasures G4374 they offered G846 unto him G1435 gifts, G5557 gold G2532 and G3030 frankincense G2532 and G4666 myrrh.

12 G2532 And G5537 being warned of God G2596 in G3677 a dream G344 that they should G3361 not G344 return G4314 to G2264 Herod, G402 they departed G1519 into G846 their own G5561 country G243 another G3598 way.

13 G1161 Now when G846 they G402 were departed, G2400 behold, G32 an angel G2962 of the Lord G5316 appeareth G2501 to Joseph G2596 in G3677 a dream, G3004 saying, G1453 Arise G3880 and take G3813 the young child G2532 and G846 his G3384 mother, G2532 and G5343 flee G1519 into G125 Egypt, G2532 and G2468 be thou G1563 there G2193 until G302 I G2036 tell G4671 thee: G1063 for G2264 Herod G3195 will G2212 seek G3813 the young child G622 to destroy G846 him.

14 G1161 And G1453 he arose G3880 and took G3813 the young child G2532 and G846 his G3384 mother G3571 by night, G2532 and G402 departed G1519 into G125 Egypt;

15 G2532 and G2258 was G1563 there G2193 until G5054 the death G2264 of Herod: G2443 that G4137 it might be fulfilled G4483 which was spoken G1223 by G2962 the Lord G1223 through G4396 the prophet, G3004 saying, G1537 Out of G125 Egypt G2564 did I call G3450 my G5207 son.

16 G5119 Then G2264 Herod, G1492 when he saw G3754 that G2373 he was G1702 mocked G5259 of G3097 the Wise-men, G2373 was G3029 exceeding G2373 wroth, G2532 and G649 sent forth, G337 and slew G3956 all G3816 the male children G3588 that were G1722 in G965 Bethlehem, G2532 and G1722 in G3956 all G3725 the borders G846 thereof, G575 from G1332 two years old G2532 and G2736 under, G2596 according to G5550 the time G3739 which G198 he had exactly learned G3844 of the Wise-men.

17 G5119 Then G4137 was fulfilled G4483 that which was spoken G5259 through G2408 Jeremiah G4396 the prophet, G3004 saying,

18 G5456 A voice G191 was heard G1722 in G4471 Ramah, G2805 weeping G2532 and G4183 great G3602 mourning, G4478 Rachel G2799 weeping G846 for her G5043 children; G2532 And G2309 she would G3756 not G3870 be comforted, G3754 because G1526 they are G3756 not.

19 G1161 But when G2264 Herod G5053 was dead, G2400 behold, G32 an angel G2962 of the Lord G5316 appeareth G2596 in G3677 a dream G2501 to Joseph G1722 in G125 Egypt, saying,

20 G1453 Arise G2532 and G3880 take G3813 the young child G2532 and G846 his G3384 mother, G2532 and G4198 go G1519 into G1093 the land G2474 of Israel: G1063 for G2348 they are dead G3588 that G2212 sought G3813 the young child's G5590 life.

21 G1161 And G1453 he arose G3880 and took G3813 the young child G2532 and G846 his G3384 mother, G2532 and G2064 came G1519 into G1093 the land G2474 of Israel.

22 G1161 But G191 when he heard G3754 that G745 Archelaus G936 was reigning G1909 over G2449 Judaea G1909 in G473 the room of G846 his G3962 father G2264 Herod, G5399 he was afraid G565 to go G1563 thither; G1161 and G5537 being warned of God G2596 in G3677 a dream, G1519 he withdrew into G3313 the parts G1056 of Galilee,

23 G2532 and G2064 came G2730 and dwelt G1519 in G4172 a city G3004 called G3478 Nazareth; G3704 that G4137 it might be fulfilled G3588 which G4483 was spoken G1223 through G3754 the prophets, G2564 that he should be called G3480 a Nazarene.
