1 John 2

BIB(i) 1 Τεκνία (Little children) μου (of me), ταῦτα (these things) γράφω (I am writing) ὑμῖν (to you) ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) ἁμάρτητε (you might sin). καὶ (And) ἐάν (if) τις (anyone) ἁμάρτῃ (should sin), Παράκλητον (an advocate) ἔχομεν (we have) πρὸς (with) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father), Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) Χριστὸν (Christ) δίκαιον (the Righteous One). 2 καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (He) ἱλασμός (the propitiation) ἐστιν (is) περὶ (for) τῶν (the) ἁμαρτιῶν (sins) ἡμῶν (of us); οὐ (not) περὶ (for) τῶν (the) ἡμετέρων (of ours) δὲ (and) μόνον (only), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) περὶ (for) ὅλου (all) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world). 3 Καὶ (And) ἐν (by) τούτῳ (this) γινώσκομεν (we know) ὅτι (that) ἐγνώκαμεν (we have come to know) αὐτόν (Him), ἐὰν (if) τὰς (the) ἐντολὰς (commandments) αὐτοῦ (of Him) τηρῶμεν (we should keep). 4 ὁ (The one) λέγων (saying) ὅτι (-), “Ἔγνωκα (I have known) αὐτόν (Him),” καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ἐντολὰς (commandments) αὐτοῦ (of Him) μὴ (not) τηρῶν (keeping), ψεύστης (a liar) ἐστίν (he is), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) τούτῳ (him) ἡ (the) ἀλήθεια (truth) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is). 5 ὃς (Whoever) δ’ (however) ἂν (-) τηρῇ (may keep) αὐτοῦ (His) τὸν (-) λόγον (word), ἀληθῶς (truly) ἐν (in) τούτῳ (him) ἡ (the) ἀγάπη (love) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τετελείωται (has been perfected). Ἐν (By) τούτῳ (this) γινώσκομεν (we know) ὅτι (that) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him) ἐσμεν (we are): 6 ὁ (The one) λέγων (claiming) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him) μένειν (to abide), ὀφείλει (ought) καθὼς (just as) ἐκεῖνος (that) περιεπάτησεν (walk) καὶ (also) αὐτὸς (He) οὕτως (in the same way) περιπατεῖν (walked). 7 Ἀγαπητοί (Beloved), οὐκ (not) ἐντολὴν (a commandment) καινὴν (new) γράφω (I am writing) ὑμῖν (to you), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐντολὴν (a commandment) παλαιὰν (old), ἣν (which) εἴχετε (you have had) ἀπ’ (from) ἀρχῆς (the beginning). ἡ (The) ἐντολὴ (commandment) ἡ (-) παλαιά (old) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) ὃν (that) ἠκούσατε (you have heard). 8 πάλιν (Again), ἐντολὴν (a commandment) καινὴν (new) γράφω (I am writing) ὑμῖν (to you), ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) ἀληθὲς (true) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you), ὅτι (because) ἡ (the) σκοτία (darkness) παράγεται (is passing away), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) φῶς (light) τὸ (-) ἀληθινὸν (true) ἤδη (already) φαίνει (shines). 9 Ὁ (The one) λέγων (claiming) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) φωτὶ (light) εἶναι (to be) καὶ (and) τὸν (the) ἀδελφὸν (brother) αὐτοῦ (of him) μισῶν (hating), ἐν (in) τῇ (the) σκοτίᾳ (darkness) ἐστὶν (is) ἕως (even until) ἄρτι (now). 10 ὁ (The one) ἀγαπῶν (loving) τὸν (the) ἀδελφὸν (brother) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἐν (in) τῷ (the) φωτὶ (light) μένει (abides), καὶ (and) σκάνδαλον (cause for stumbling) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (him) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (there is). 11 ὁ (The one) δὲ (however) μισῶν (hating) τὸν (the) ἀδελφὸν (brother) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἐν (in) τῇ (the) σκοτίᾳ (darkness) ἐστὶν (is), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) σκοτίᾳ (darkness) περιπατεῖ (walks); καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) οἶδεν (does he know) ποῦ (where) ὑπάγει (he is going), ὅτι (because) ἡ (the) σκοτία (darkness) ἐτύφλωσεν (has blinded) τοὺς (the) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) αὐτοῦ (of him). 12 Γράφω (I am writing) ὑμῖν (to you), τεκνία (little children), ὅτι (because) ἀφέωνται (have been forgiven) ὑμῖν (your) αἱ (-) ἁμαρτίαι (sins) διὰ (for the sake of) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him). 13 Γράφω (I am writing) ὑμῖν (to you), πατέρες (fathers), ὅτι (because) ἐγνώκατε (you have known) τὸν (Him who is) ἀπ’ (from) ἀρχῆς (the beginning). Γράφω (I am writing) ὑμῖν (to you), νεανίσκοι (young men), ὅτι (because) νενικήκατε (you have overcome) τὸν (the) πονηρόν (evil one). Ἔγραψα (I have written) ὑμῖν (to you), παιδία (little children), ὅτι (because) ἐγνώκατε (you know) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father). 14 Ἔγραψα (I have written) ὑμῖν (to you), πατέρες (fathers), ὅτι (because) ἐγνώκατε (you know) τὸν (Him who is) ἀπ’ (from) ἀρχῆς (the beginning). Ἔγραψα (I have written) ὑμῖν (to you), νεανίσκοι (young men), ὅτι (because) ἰσχυροί (strong) ἐστε (you are), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you) μένει (abides), καὶ (and) νενικήκατε (you have overcome) τὸν (the) πονηρόν (evil one). 15 Μὴ (Not) ἀγαπᾶτε (love) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world) μηδὲ (nor) τὰ (the things) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world). ἐάν (If) τις (anyone) ἀγαπᾷ (should love) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world), οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ἡ (the) ἀγάπη (love) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (him), 16 ὅτι (because) πᾶν (all) τὸ (that is) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world), ἡ (the) ἐπιθυμία (desire) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἐπιθυμία (desire) τῶν (of the) ὀφθαλμῶν (eyes), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἀλαζονεία* (vaunting) τοῦ (of) βίου (life), οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) πατρός (Father), ἀλλὰ (but) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) κόσμου (world) ἐστίν (is). 17 καὶ (And) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) παράγεται (is passing away), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἐπιθυμία (desire) αὐτοῦ (of it); ὁ (the one) δὲ (however) ποιῶν (doing) τὸ (the) θέλημα (will) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) μένει (abides) εἰς (to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα (age). 18 Παιδία (Little children), ἐσχάτη (the last) ὥρα (hour) ἐστίν (it is), καὶ (and) καθὼς (as) ἠκούσατε (you have heard) ὅτι (that) ἀντίχριστος (antichrist) ἔρχεται (is coming), καὶ (even) νῦν (now) ἀντίχριστοι (antichrists) πολλοὶ (many) γεγόνασιν (have arisen), ὅθεν (whereby) γινώσκομεν (we know) ὅτι (that) ἐσχάτη (the last) ὥρα (hour) ἐστίν (it is). 19 ἐξ (From among) ἡμῶν (us) ἐξῆλθαν (they went out), ἀλλ’ (but) οὐκ (not) ἦσαν (they were) ἐξ (of) ἡμῶν (us); εἰ (if) γὰρ (for) ἐξ (of) ἡμῶν (us) ἦσαν (they had been), μεμενήκεισαν (they would have remained) ἂν (-) μεθ’ (with) ἡμῶν (us). ἀλλ’ (But) ἵνα (it is so that) φανερωθῶσιν (it might be made manifest) ὅτι (that) οὐκ (not) εἰσὶν (they are) πάντες (all) ἐξ (of) ἡμῶν (us). 20 Καὶ (And) ὑμεῖς (you) χρῖσμα (the anointing) ἔχετε (have) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) Ἁγίου (Holy One), καὶ (and) οἴδατε (know you) πάντες (all). 21 οὐκ (Not) ἔγραψα (I have written) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (because) οὐκ (not) οἴδατε (you know) τὴν (the) ἀλήθειαν (truth), ἀλλ’ (but) ὅτι (because) οἴδατε (you know) αὐτήν (it), καὶ (and) ὅτι (because) πᾶν (any) ψεῦδος (lie), ἐκ (of) τῆς (the) ἀληθείας (truth) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is). 22 Τίς (Who) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) ψεύστης (liar), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the one) ἀρνούμενος (denying) ὅτι (that) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ὁ (the) Χριστός (Christ)? οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) ἀντίχριστος (antichrist), ὁ (the one) ἀρνούμενος (denying) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) καὶ (and) τὸν (the) Υἱόν (Son). 23 πᾶς (Everyone) ὁ (-) ἀρνούμενος (denying) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son), οὐδὲ (neither) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) ἔχει (has he). ὁ (The one) ὁμολογῶν (confessing) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son), καὶ (also) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) ἔχει (has). 24 Ὑμεῖς (You), ὃ (what) ἠκούσατε (you have heard) ἀπ’ (from) ἀρχῆς (the beginning), ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you) μενέτω (let it abide). ἐὰν (If) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you) μείνῃ (should abide) ὃ (what) ἀπ’ (from) ἀρχῆς (the beginning) ἠκούσατε (you have heard), καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) Υἱῷ (Son) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) Πατρὶ (Father) μενεῖτε (will abide). 25 καὶ (And) αὕτη (this) ἐστὶν (is) ἡ (the) ἐπαγγελία (promise) ἣν (that) αὐτὸς (He) ἐπηγγείλατο (promised) ἡμῖν (us): τὴν (-) ζωὴν (life) τὴν (-) αἰώνιον (eternal). 26 Ταῦτα (These things) ἔγραψα (I have written) ὑμῖν (to you) περὶ (concerning) τῶν (those) πλανώντων (leading astray) ὑμᾶς (you). 27 καὶ (And) ὑμεῖς (you), τὸ (the) χρῖσμα (anointing) ὃ (that) ἐλάβετε (you received) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτοῦ (Him), μένει (abides) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you), καὶ (and) οὐ (not) χρείαν (need) ἔχετε (you have) ἵνα (that) τις (anyone) διδάσκῃ (should teach) ὑμᾶς (you). ἀλλ’ (But) ὡς (just as) τὸ (the) αὐτοῦ (same) χρῖσμα (anointing) διδάσκει (teaches) ὑμᾶς (you) περὶ (concerning) πάντων (all things), καὶ (and) ἀληθές (true) ἐστιν (is), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ψεῦδος (a lie); καὶ (and) καθὼς (just as) ἐδίδαξεν (it has taught) ὑμᾶς (you), μένετε (you shall abide) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him). 28 Καὶ (And) νῦν (now), τεκνία (little children), μένετε (abide) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him), ἵνα (so that) ἐὰν (when) φανερωθῇ (He appears) σχῶμεν (we might have) παρρησίαν (boldness) καὶ (and) μὴ (not) αἰσχυνθῶμεν (be ashamed) ἀπ’ (before) αὐτοῦ (Him) ἐν (at) τῇ (the) παρουσίᾳ (coming) αὐτοῦ (of Him). 29 Ἐὰν (If) εἰδῆτε (you know) ὅτι (that) δίκαιός (righteous) ἐστιν (He is), γινώσκετε (you know) ὅτι (that) καὶ (also) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) ποιῶν (practicing) τὴν (-) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness), ἐξ (of) αὐτοῦ (Him) γεγέννηται (has been begotten).
