THE THIRD WAR OF ACH AB WITH ARAM
And they settle three years without war between Aram and Yisra El: 2 and so be it, in the third year, Yah Shaphat the sovereign of Yah Hudah descends to the sovereign of Yisra El. 3 And the sovereign of Yisra El says to his servants, Know you not that Ramoth Gilad is ours? And we hush in taking it from the hand of the sovereign of Aram? 4 And he says to Yah Shaphat, Come with me to war to Ramoth Gilad? And Yah Shaphat says to the sovereign of Yisra El, I as you; my people as your people; my horses as your horses. 5 And Yah Shaphat says to the sovereign of Yisra El, Enquire, I beseech you today, the word of Yah Veh. 6 And the sovereign of Yisra El gathers the prophets - about four hundred men and says to them, Go I to war against Ramoth Gilad? Or cease I? And they say, Ascend; for Adonay gives it in the hand of the sovereign. 7 And Yah Shaphat says, Is there not a prophet of Yah Veh here - to enquire of him? 8 And the sovereign of Yisra El says to Yah Shaphat, There is still one man, Michah Yah the son of Yimlah, by whom we may enquire of Yah Veh: but I hate him; for he prophesies no good concerning me; but evil. And Yah Shaphat says, O that the sovereign not say thus. 9 Then the sovereign of Yisra El calls one eunuch and says, Hasten Michah Yah the son of Yimlah! 10 And the sovereign of Yisra El and Yah Shaphat the sovereign of Yah Hudah settle - each man on his throne; their clothes enrobed; in a threshingfloor in the opening of the portal of Shomeron: and all the prophets prophesy at their face. 11 And Sidqi Yah the son of Kenaanah works himself horns of iron: and he says, Thus says Yah Veh, But the Aramiy with these until you finish them off. 12 And all the prophets prophesy thus, saying, Ascend to Ramoth Gilad and prosper: for Yah Veh gives it in the hand of the sovereign. 13
MICHAH YAH PROPHESIES DEFEAT
And the angel who goes to call Michah Yah words to him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets are good to the sovereign with one mouth: and so be it, I beseech you, your word as their word - a good word. 14 And Michah Yah says, Yah Veh lives: what Yah Veh says to me, I word. 15 And he comes to the sovereign; and the sovereign says to him, Michah Yah, Go we to war against Ramoth Gilad? Or cease? And he says to him, Ascend and prosper: for Yah Veh gives it into the hand of the sovereign. 16 And the sovereign says to him, How many times oath I you that you word me naught but truth in the name of Yah Veh? 17 And he says, I see all Yisra El scattered on the mountains as flocks with no tender: and Yah Veh says, These have no adoni: return them - every man to his house in shalom. 18 And the sovereign of Yisra El says to Yah Shaphat, Said I not to you that he prophesies no good concerning me - but evil? 19 And he says, Therefore hear the word of Yah Veh: I see Yah Veh settled on his throne and all the host of the heavens stand by him at his right and at his left. 20 And Yah Veh says, Who entices Ach Ab to ascend and fall at Ramoth Gilad? And this one says thus; and that one says thus: 21 and a spirit goes and stands at the face of Yah Veh and says, I entice him. 22 And Yah Veh says to him, How? And he says, I go and I become a false spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he says, Entice him and also prevail: Go! Work thus! 23 And now behold, Yah Veh gives a false spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets and Yah Veh words evil concerning you. 24 And Sidqi Yah the son of Kenaanah comes near and smites Michah Yah on the cheek and says, Where passes the Spirit of Yah Veh from me to word to you? 25 And Michah Yah says, Behold, you see in that day when you go into an inner chamber to hide yourself. 26 And the sovereign of Yisra El says, Take Michah Yah and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Yah Ash the son of the sovereign: 27 and say, Thus says the sovereign, Set this one in the prison house; and have him eat bread of oppression and water of oppression, until I come in shalom. 28 And Michah Yah says, If in returning, you return in shalom, Yah Veh words not thus by me. And he says, Hearken, O people - all of you. 29
ACH AB DEATHIFIED
And the sovereign of Yisra El and Yah Shaphat the sovereign of Yah Hudah ascend to Ramoth Gilad: 30 and the sovereign of Yisra El says to Yah Shaphat, I disguise myself and enter the war; but you enrobe your clothes. - and the sovereign of Yisra El disguises himself and goes to war. 31 And the sovereign of Aram misvahs his thirty-two governors who rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, except only, with the sovereign of Yisra El. 32 And so be it, the governors of the chariots see Yah Shaphat, and they say, Surely it is the sovereign of Yisra El. And they turn to fight him: and Yah Shaphat cries out. 33 And so be it, the governors of the chariots see it is not the sovereign of Yisra El, and they turn back from after him. 34 And a man draws a bow in his integrity and smites the sovereign of Yisra El between the joints of the habergeon: and he says to his charioteer, Turn your hand and bring me from the camp; for I am sick. 35 And the war ascends that day: and the sovereign stays in his chariot against the Aramiy and dies at evening: and the blood from the stroke pours into the bosom of the chariot. 36 And a shout passes through the camp at about the descent of the sun, saying, Every man to his city and every man to his own land. 37 And the sovereign dies and enters Shomeron; and they entomb the sovereign in Shomeron: 38 and they overflow the chariot in the pool of Shomeron; and the dogs lap his blood; and they bathe his armour; according to the word Yah Veh worded. 39 And the rest of the words of Ach Ab and all he worked and the ivory house he built and all the cities he built are they not inscribed in the scroll of the words of the days of the sovereigns of Yisra El? 40 And Ach Ab lies down with his fathers; and Achaz Yah his son reigns in his stead. 41
