Hosea 11

ECB(i) 1 Because Yisra El is a lad, I love him; and from Misrayim I call my son. 2 They call them; they go from their face: they sacrifice to Baalim and incense to sculptiles. 3 And I tread Ephrayim - taking them by their arms; and they know not that I heal them 4 - draw them with human cords - with ropes of love: and I am to them as they who lift the yoke on their jaws; and I spread to them; and they eat. 5 He returns not to the land of Misrayim, and the Ashshuri is his sovereign - because they refuse to return: 6 and the sword whirls on his cities and finishes off his branches and consumes because of their own counsels. 7 And my people are prone to apostasy: though they call Elyon to themselves, no one at all exalts him. 8 How give I you up, Ephrayim? How buckler I you, Yisra El? How give I you as Admah? How set I you as Seboim? My heart turns within me; my solaces yearn together. 9 I neither work the fuming of my wrath nor return to ruin Ephrayim: for I am El, and not man; the Holy One among you: and I enter not the city. 10 They walk after Yah Veh; he roars as a lion: when he roars, the sons from the seaward tremble: 11 they tremble as a bird from Misrayim and as a dove from the land of Ashshur: and I settle them in their houses - an oracle of Yah Veh. 12 Ephrayim surrounds me with deceptions and the house of Yisra El with deceit: and Yah Hudah rambles on with El and is trustworthy with the holy.
