Jeremiah 13

THE FLAX GIRDLE
Thus says Yah Veh to me, Go and chattel yourself a flax girdle; and set it on your loins and put it not in water. 2 And I chatteled a girdle according to the word of Yah Veh, and set it on my loins. 3 And so be the word of Yah Veh to me secondly, saying, 4 Take the girdle you chatteled, on your loins, and rise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock. 5 - and I go and hide it by Euphrates as Yah Veh misvahed me. 6 And so be it, at the end of many days, Yah Veh says to me, Rise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I misvahed you to hide there. 7 And I go to Euphrates, and dig, and take the girdle from the place I hid it: and behold, the girdle is ruined - prospering for naught. 8 And so be the word of Yah Veh to me, saying, 9 Thus says Yah Veh, Thus I ruin the pomp of Yah Hudah and the great pomp of Yeru Shalem. 10 This evil people, who refuses to hear my words, who walk in the warp of their heart and walk after other elohim - to serve them and to prostrate to them, becomes as this girdle, prospering for naught. 11 For as the girdle adheres to the loins of a man, thus I have the whole house of Yisra El and the whole house of Yah Hudah adhere to me - an oracle of Yah Veh to be to me for a people and for a name and for a halal and for an adornment: and they hearken not. 12
WINEBAGS
Say this word to them; Thus says Yah Veh Elohim of Yisra El, Every bag is filled with wine. And they say to you, In knowing, know we not that every bag is filled with wine? 13 Then you say to them, Thus says Yah Veh, Behold, I fill all the settlers of this land, even the sovereigns who sit on the throne of David and the priests and the prophets and all the settlers of Yeru Shalem with intoxication: 14 and I shatter them, man against brother - even the fathers and the sons together - an oracle of Yah Veh: I neither compassion nor spare nor mercy - for their ruin. 15 Hear! And hearken! Not lofted! - for Yah Veh has worded. 16
THE THREAT OF EXILE
Give honor to Yah Veh your Elohim ere he causes darkness; and ere your feet stub on the evening breeze of the mountains: and while you look for light, he sets it into the shadow of death and places dripping darkness: 17 and if you hear it not, my soul weeps in coverts at the face of your arrogance; and my eye weeps sore and drips with tears, for the drove of Yah Veh is captured. 18 Say to the sovereign and to the lady, Abase! Sit! - for your headships descend - even the crown of your adornment. 19 The cities of the south are shut and no one opens: Yah Hudah is exiled - all of her - exiled in shalom. 20 Lift your eyes, and see them coming from the north! Where is the drove that was given you - your flock of adornment? 21 What say you when he visits on you? - for you taught them to be chiliarchs, and as chief over you: pangs, overtake they you not, as in birthing? 22 And if you say in your heart, Why confront these on me? For the greatness of your perversity your drapings are exposed and your heels violated. 23 Can the Kushiy turn his skin? Or the leopard his streaks? You also are able to well-please - you who are discipled to vilify. 24 And I scatter them as the stubble that passes away by the wind of the wilderness. 25 This is your pebble - the portion of your measures from me - an oracle of Yah Veh; because you forget me and confide in falsehood. 26 I also strip your drapings in front of your face so that your abasement is seen: 27 I see your adulteries and your neighings - the intrigue of your whoredom and your abominations on the hills in the fields! Woe to you, O Yeru Shalem! Purify you not yourselves? Until when?
