To His Eminence; Yeduthun/A Laudatory; A Psalm by David. I say, I guard my ways from sinning with my tongue; I guard my mouth with a muzzle while the wicked is ere in front of me.
I am mute with silence; I hush from good; and my pain troubles me:
my heart heats within me; as I meditate, the fire burns. I word with my tongue,
O Yah Veh, have me know my end and the measure of my days, what they are; so that I know how forsaken I am.
Behold, you give my days as a palm span; my transcience is as naught in front of you; verily all humanity is stationed in vanity. Selah.
Surely every man walks in an image; surely they roar in vain: he heaps and knows not who gathers.
And now, O Adonay, what await I? My hope is in you.
Rescue me from all my rebellions; set me not a reproach of fools.
I am mute, I open not my mouth; because you - you worked it.
Turn aside your plague from me; I am finished off by the choking of your hand.
With reproofs you discipline man for his perversity; you dissolve his desire as a moth; surely all humanity is vanity. Selah.
Hear my prayer, O Yah Veh; hearken to my cry; hush not at my tears; for I am a sojourner with you - a settler, as all my fathers.
O look on me, that I may relax, ere I go hence and am no more.
