2 Chronicles 14 וישׁכב slept אביה So Abijah עם with אבתיו his fathers, ויקברו and they buried אתו בעיר him in the city דויד of David: וימלך reigned אסא and Asa בנו his son תחתיו in his stead. בימיו In his days שׁקטה was quiet הארץ the land עשׂר ten שׁנים׃ years.

3 H5493 ויסר For he took away H853 את H4196 מזבחות the altars H5236 הנכר of the strange H1116 והבמות and the high places, H7665 וישׁבר and broke down H853 את H4676 המצבות the images, H1438 ויגדע and cut down H853 את H842 האשׁרים׃ the groves:

4 H559 ויאמר And commanded H3063 ליהודה Judah H1875 לדרושׁ to seek H853 את H3068 יהוה the LORD H430 אלהי God H1 אבותיהם of their fathers, H6213 ולעשׂות and to do H8451 התורה the law H4687 והמצוה׃ and the commandment.

5 H5493 ויסר Also he took away H3605 מכל out of all H5892 ערי the cities H3063 יהודה of Judah H853 את H1116 הבמות the high places H853 ואת H2553 החמנים and the images: H8252 ותשׁקט was quiet H4467 הממלכה and the kingdom H6440 לפניו׃ before

6 H1129 ויבן And he built H5892 ערי cities H4694 מצורה fenced H3063 ביהודה in Judah: H3588 כי for H8252 שׁקטה had rest, H776 הארץ the land H369 ואין and he had no H5973 עמו H4421 מלחמה war H8141 בשׁנים years; H428 האלה in those H3588 כי because H5117 הניח had given him rest. H3068 יהוה׃ the LORD

7 H559 ויאמר Therefore he said H3063 ליהודה unto Judah, H1129 נבנה Let us build H853 את H5892 הערים cities, H428 האלה these H5437 ונסב and make about H2346 חומה walls, H4026 ומגדלים and towers, H1817 דלתים gates, H1280 ובריחים and bars, H5750 עודנו yet H776 הארץ the land H6440 לפנינו before H3588 כי us; because H1875 דרשׁנו we have sought H853 את H3068 יהוה the LORD H430 אלהינו our God, H1875 דרשׁנו we have sought H5117 וינח and he hath given us rest H5439 לנו מסביב on every side. H1129 ויבנו So they built H6743 ויצליחו׃ and prospered.

8 H1961 ויהי had H609 לאסא And Asa H2428 חיל an army H5375 נשׂא that bore H6793 צנה targets H7420 ורמח and spears, H3063 מיהודה Judah H7969 שׁלשׁ three H3967 מאות hundred H505 אלף thousand; H1144 ומבנימן H5375 נשׂאי that bore H4043 מגן shields H1869 ודרכי and drew H7198 קשׁת bows, H3967 מאתים two hundred H8084 ושׁמונים and fourscore H505 אלף thousand: H3605 כל all H428 אלה these H1368 גבורי mighty men H2428 חיל׃ of valor.

9 H3318 ויצא And there came out H413 אליהם against H2226 זרח them Zerah H3569 הכושׁי the Ethiopian H2428 בחיל with a host H505 אלף of a thousand H505 אלפים thousand, H4818 ומרכבות chariots; H7969 שׁלשׁ and three H3967 מאות hundred H935 ויבא and came H5704 עד unto H4762 מרשׁה׃ Mareshah.

10 H3318 ויצא went out H609 אסא Then Asa H6440 לפניו against H6186 ויערכו him, and they set the battle in array H4421 מלחמה him, and they set the battle in array H1516 בגיא in the valley H6859 צפתה of Zephathah H4762 למרשׁה׃ at Mareshah.

11 H7121 ויקרא cried H609 אסא And Asa H413 אל unto H3068 יהוה the LORD H430 אלהיו his God, H559 ויאמר and said, H3068 יהוה LORD, H369 אין nothing H5973 עמך with H5826 לעזור thee to help, H996 בין whether H7227 רב with many, H369 לאין or with them that have no H3581 כח power: H5826 עזרנו help H3068 יהוה us, O LORD H430 אלהינו our God; H3588 כי for H5921 עליך on H8172 נשׁענו we rest H8034 ובשׁמך thee, and in thy name H935 באנו we go H5921 על against H1995 ההמון multitude. H2088 הזה this H3068 יהוה O LORD, H430 אלהינו our God; H859 אתה thou H408 אל let not H6113 יעצר prevail H5973 עמך against H582 אנושׁ׃ man

12 H5062 ויגף smote H3069 יהוה H853 את H3569 הכושׁים the Ethiopians H6440 לפני before H609 אסא Asa, H6440 ולפני and before H3063 יהודה Judah; H5127 וינסו fled. H3569 הכושׁים׃ and the Ethiopians

13 H7291 וירדפם him pursued H609 אסא And Asa H5971 והעם and the people H834 אשׁר that H5973 עמו with H5704 עד them unto H1642 לגרר Gerar: H5307 ויפל were overthrown, H3569 מכושׁים H369 לאין that they could not H1992 להם H4241 מחיה recover H3588 כי themselves; for H7665 נשׁברו they were destroyed H6440 לפני before H3068 יהוה the LORD, H6440 ולפני and before H4264 מחנהו his host; H5375 וישׂאו and they carried away H7998 שׁלל spoil. 14 H5221 ויכו And they smote H853 את H3605 כל all H5892 הערים the cities H5439 סביבות round about H1642 גרר Gerar; H3588 כי for H1961 היה came H6343 פחד the fear H3068 יהוה of the LORD H5921 עליהם upon H962 ויבזו them: and they spoiled H853 את H3605 כל all H5892 הערים the cities; H3588 כי for H961 בזה spoil H7227 רבה exceeding much H1961 היתה׃ there was

15 H1571 וגם also H168 אהלי the tents H4735 מקנה of cattle, H5221 הכו They smote H7617 וישׁבו and carried away H6629 צאן sheep H7230 לרב in abundance, H1581 וגמלים and camels H7725 וישׁבו and returned H3389 ירושׁלם׃ to Jerusalem.
