2 Chronicles 14 So Abijah slept with his fathers , and they buried him in the city of David : and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.

2 H609 And Asa H6213 did [H8799] H2896 that which was good H3477 and right H5869 in the eyes H3068 of the LORD H430 his God:

3 H5493 For he took away [H8686] H4196 the altars H5236 of the strange H1116 gods, and the high places H7665 , and brake down [H8762] H4676 the images H1438 , and cut down [H8762] H842 the groves:

4 H559 And commanded [H8799] H3063 Judah H1875 to seek [H8800] H3068 the LORD H430 God H1 of their fathers H6213 , and to do [H8800] H8451 the law H4687 and the commandment.

5 H5493 Also he took away [H8686] H5892 out of all the cities H3063 of Judah H1116 the high places H2553 and the images H4467 : and the kingdom H8252 was quiet [H8799] H6440 before him.

6 H1129 And he built [H8799] H4694 fenced H5892 cities H3063 in Judah H776 : for the land H8252 had rest [H8804] H4421 , and he had no war H8141 in those years H3068 ; because the LORD H5117 had given him rest [H8689] .

7 H559 Therefore he said [H8799] H3063 unto Judah H1129 , Let us build [H8799] H5892 these cities H5437 , and make about [H8686] H2346 them walls H4026 , and towers H1817 , gates H1280 , and bars H776 , while the land H6440 is yet before H1875 us; because we have sought [H8804] H3068 the LORD H430 our God H1875 , we have sought [H8804] H5117 him, and he hath given us rest [H8799] H5439 on every side H1129 . So they built [H8799] H6743 and prospered [H8686] .

8 H609 And Asa H2428 had an army H5375 of men that bare [H8802] H6793 targets H7420 and spears H3063 , out of Judah H7969 three H3967 hundred H505 thousand H1144 ; and out of Benjamin H5375 , that bare [H8802] H4043 shields H1869 and drew [H8802] H7198 bows H3967 , two hundred H8084 and fourscore H505 thousand H1368 : all these were mighty men H2428 of valour.

9 H3318 And there came out [H8799] H2226 against them Zerah H3569 the Ethiopian H2428 with an host H505 of a thousand H505 thousand H7969 , and three H3967 hundred H4818 chariots H935 ; and came [H8799] H4762 unto Mareshah.

10 H609 Then Asa H3318 went out [H8799] H6440 against H4421 him, and they set the battle H6186 in array [H8799] H1516 in the valley H6859 of Zephathah H4762 at Mareshah.

11 H609 And Asa H7121 cried [H8799] H3068 unto the LORD H430 his God H559 , and said [H8799] H3068 , LORD H5826 , it is nothing with thee to help [H8800] H996 , whether H7227 with many H3581 , or with them that have no power H5826 : help [H8798] H3068 us, O LORD H430 our God H8172 ; for we rest [H8738] H8034 on thee, and in thy name H935 we go [H8804] H1995 against this multitude H3068 . O LORD H430 , thou art our God H582 ; let not man H6113 prevail [H8799] against thee.

12 H3068 So the LORD H5062 smote [H8799] H3569 the Ethiopians H6440 before H609 Asa H6440 , and before H3063 Judah H3569 ; and the Ethiopians H5127 fled [H8799] .

13 H609 And Asa H5971 and the people H7291 that were with him pursued [H8799] H1642 them unto Gerar H3569 : and the Ethiopians H5307 were overthrown [H8799] H4241 , that they could not recover H7665 themselves; for they were destroyed [H8738] H6440 before H3068 the LORD H6440 , and before H4264 his host H5375 ; and they carried away [H8799] H3966 very H7235 much [H8687] H7998 spoil.

14 H5221 And they smote [H8686] H5892 all the cities H5439 round about H1642 Gerar H6343 ; for the fear H3068 of the LORD H962 came upon them: and they spoiled [H8799] H5892 all the cities H7227 ; for there was exceeding much H961 spoil in them.

15 H5221 They smote [H8689] H168 also the tents H4735 of cattle H7617 , and carried away [H8799] H6629 sheep H1581 and camels H7230 in abundance H7725 , and returned [H8799] H3389 to Jerusalem.
