2 Chronicles 20 It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab , and the children of Ammon , and with them other beside the Ammonites , came against Jehoshaphat to battle.

2 H935 Then there came [H8799] H5046 some that told [H8686] H3092 Jehoshaphat H559 , saying [H8800] H935 , There cometh [H8802] H7227 a great H1995 multitude H5676 against thee from beyond H3220 the sea H758 on this side Syria H2688 ; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar H5872 , which is Engedi.

3 H3092 And Jehoshaphat H3372 feared [H8799] H5414 , and set [H8799] H6440 himself H1875 to seek [H8800] H3068 the LORD H7121 , and proclaimed [H8799] H6685 a fast H5921 throughout H3063 all Judah.

4 H3063 And Judah H6908 gathered themselves together [H8735] H1245 , to ask [H8763] H3068 help of the LORD H5892 : even out of all the cities H3063 of Judah H935 they came [H8804] H1245 to seek [H8763] H3068 the LORD.

5 H3092 And Jehoshaphat H5975 stood [H8799] H6951 in the congregation H3063 of Judah H3389 and Jerusalem H1004 , in the house H3068 of the LORD H6440 , before H2319 the new H2691 court,

6 H559 And said [H8799] H3068 , O LORD H430 God H1 of our fathers H430 , art not thou God H8064 in heaven H4910 ? and rulest [H8802] H4467 not thou over all the kingdoms H1471 of the heathen H3027 ? and in thine hand H3581 is there not power H1369 and might H3320 , so that none is able to withstand [H8692] thee?

7 H430 Art not thou our God H3423 , who didst drive out [H8689] H3427 the inhabitants [H8802] H776 of this land H6440 before H5971 thy people H3478 Israel H5414 , and gavest [H8799] H2233 it to the seed H85 of Abraham H157 thy friend [H8802] H5769 for ever?

8 H3427 And they dwelt [H8799] H1129 therein, and have built [H8799] H4720 thee a sanctuary H8034 therein for thy name H559 , saying [H8800] ,

9 H7451 If, when evil H935 cometh [H8799] H2719 upon us, as the sword H8196 , judgment H1698 , or pestilence H7458 , or famine H5975 , we stand [H8799] H6440 before H1004 this house H6440 , and in thy presence H8034 , (for thy name H1004 is in this house H2199 ,) and cry [H8799] H6869 unto thee in our affliction H8085 , then thou wilt hear [H8799] H3467 and help [H8686] .

10 H1121 And now, behold, the children H5983 of Ammon H4124 and Moab H2022 and mount H8165 Seir H5414 , whom thou wouldest not let [H8804] H3478 Israel H935 invade [H8800] H935 , when they came out [H8800] H776 of the land H4714 of Egypt H5493 , but they turned [H8804] H8045 from them, and destroyed [H8689] them not;

11 H1580 Behold, I say, how they reward [H8802] H935 us, to come [H8800] H1644 to cast us out [H8763] H3425 of thy possession H3423 , which thou hast given us to inherit [H8689] .

12 H430 O our God H8199 , wilt thou not judge [H8799] H3581 them? for we have no might H6440 against H7227 this great H1995 company H935 that cometh [H8802] H3045 against us; neither know [H8799] H587 we H6213 what to do [H8799] H5869 : but our eyes are upon thee.

13 H3063 And all Judah H5975 stood [H8802] H6440 before H3068 the LORD H1571 , with H2945 their little ones H802 , their wives H1121 , and their children.

14 H3166 Then upon Jahaziel H1121 the son H2148 of Zechariah H1121 , the son H1141 of Benaiah H1121 , the son H3273 of Jeiel H1121 , the son H4983 of Mattaniah H3881 , a Levite H1121 of the sons H623 of Asaph H7307 , came the Spirit H3068 of the LORD H8432 in the midst H6951 of the congregation;

15 H559 And he said [H8799] H7181 , Hearken [H8685] H3063 ye, all Judah H3427 , and ye inhabitants [H8802] H3389 of Jerusalem H4428 , and thou king H3092 Jehoshaphat H559 , Thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H3372 unto you, Be not afraid [H8799] H2865 nor dismayed [H8735] H6440 by reason H7227 of this great H1995 multitude H4421 ; for the battle H430 is not yours, but God's.

16 H4279 To morrow H3381 go ye down [H8798] H5927 against them: behold, they come up [H8802] H4608 by the cliff H6732 of Ziz H4672 ; and ye shall find [H8804] H5490 them at the end H5158 of the brook H6440 , before H4057 the wilderness H3385 of Jeruel.

17 H3898 Ye shall not need to fight [H8736] H2063 in this H3320 battle : set [H8690] H5975 yourselves, stand [H8798] H7200 ye still, and see [H8798] H3444 the salvation H3068 of the LORD H3063 with you, O Judah H3389 and Jerusalem H3372 : fear [H8799] H2865 not, nor be dismayed [H8735] H4279 ; to morrow H3318 go out [H8798] H6440 against H3068 them: for the LORD will be with you.

18 H3092 And Jehoshaphat H6915 bowed [H8799] H639 his head with his face H776 to the ground H3063 : and all Judah H3427 and the inhabitants [H8802] H3389 of Jerusalem H5307 fell [H8804] H6440 before H3068 the LORD H7812 , worshipping [H8692] H3068 the LORD.

19 H3881 And the Levites H1121 , of the children H6956 of the Kohathites H1121 , and of the children H7145 of the Korhites H6965 , stood up [H8799] H1984 to praise [H8763] H3068 the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H1419 with a loud H6963 voice H4605 on high.

20 H7925 And they rose early [H8686] H1242 in the morning H3318 , and went forth [H8799] H4057 into the wilderness H8620 of Tekoa H3318 : and as they went forth [H8800] H3092 , Jehoshaphat H5975 stood [H8804] H559 and said [H8799] H8085 , Hear [H8798] H3063 me, O Judah H3427 , and ye inhabitants [H8802] H3389 of Jerusalem H539 ; Believe [H8685] H3068 in the LORD H430 your God H539 , so shall ye be established [H8735] H539 ; believe [H8685] H5030 his prophets H6743 , so shall ye prosper [H8685] .

21 H3289 And when he had consulted [H8735] H5971 with the people H5975 , he appointed [H8686] H7891 singers [H8789] H3068 unto the LORD H1984 , and that should praise [H8764] H1927 the beauty H6944 of holiness H3318 , as they went out [H8800] H6440 before H2502 the army [H8803] H559 , and to say [H8802] H3034 , Praise [H8685] H3068 the LORD H2617 ; for his mercy H5769 endureth for ever.

22 H6256 And when H2490 they began [H8689] H7440 to sing H8416 and to praise H3068 , the LORD H5414 set [H8804] H693 ambushments [H8764] H1121 against the children H5983 of Ammon H4124 , Moab H2022 , and mount H8165 Seir H935 , which were come [H8802] H3063 against Judah H5062 ; and they were smitten [H8735] .

23 H1121 For the children H5983 of Ammon H4124 and Moab H5975 stood up [H8799] H3427 against the inhabitants [H8802] H2022 of mount H8165 Seir H2763 , utterly to slay [H8687] H8045 and destroy [H8687] H3615 them : and when they had made an end [H8763] H3427 of the inhabitants [H8802] H8165 of Seir H376 , every one H5826 helped [H8804] H4889 to destroy H7453 another.

24 H3063 And when Judah H935 came [H8804] H4707 toward the watch tower [H8677] H4708 H4057 in the wilderness H6437 , they looked [H8799] H1995 unto the multitude H6297 , and, behold, they were dead bodies H5307 fallen [H8802] H776 to the earth H6413 , and none escaped.

25 H3092 And when Jehoshaphat H5971 and his people H935 came [H8799] H962 to take away [H8800] H7998 the spoil H4672 of them, they found [H8799] H7230 among them in abundance H7399 both riches H6297 with the dead bodies H2532 , and precious H3627 jewels H5337 , which they stripped off [H8762] H369 for themselves, more than H4853 they could carry away H7969 : and they were three H3117 days H962 in gathering [H8802] H7998 of the spoil H7227 , it was so much.

26 H7243 And on the fourth H3117 day H6950 they assembled [H8738] H6010 themselves in the valley H1294 of Berachah H1288 ; for there they blessed [H8765] H3068 the LORD H8034 : therefore the name H4725 of the same place H7121 was called [H8804] H6010 , The valley H1294 of Berachah H3117 , unto this day.

27 H7725 Then they returned [H8799] H376 , every man H3063 of Judah H3389 and Jerusalem H3092 , and Jehoshaphat H7218 in the forefront H7725 of them, to go again [H8800] H3389 to Jerusalem H8057 with joy H3068 ; for the LORD H8055 had made them to rejoice [H8765] H341 over their enemies [H8802] .

28 H935 And they came [H8799] H3389 to Jerusalem H5035 with psalteries H3658 and harps H2689 and trumpets H1004 unto the house H3068 of the LORD.

29 H6343 And the fear H430 of God H4467 was on all the kingdoms H776 of those countries H8085 , when they had heard [H8800] H3068 that the LORD H3898 fought [H8738] H341 against the enemies [H8802] H3478 of Israel.

30 H4438 So the realm H3092 of Jehoshaphat H8252 was quiet [H8799] H430 : for his God H5117 gave him rest [H8799] H5439 round about.

31 H3092 And Jehoshaphat H4427 reigned [H8799] H3063 over Judah H7970 : he was thirty H2568 and five H8141 years H1121 old H4427 when he began to reign [H8800] H4427 , and he reigned [H8804] H6242 twenty H2568 and five H8141 years H3389 in Jerusalem H517 . And his mother's H8034 name H5806 was Azubah H1323 the daughter H7977 of Shilhi.

32 H3212 And he walked [H8799] H1870 in the way H609 of Asa H1 his father H5493 , and departed [H8804] H6213 not from it, doing [H8800] H3477 that which was right H5869 in the sight H3068 of the LORD.

33 H1116 Howbeit the high places H5493 were not taken away [H8804] H5971 : for as yet the people H3559 had not prepared [H8689] H3824 their hearts H430 unto the God H1 of their fathers.

34 H3499 Now the rest H1697 of the acts H3092 of Jehoshaphat H7223 , first H314 and last H3789 , behold, they are written [H8803] H1697 in the book H3058 of Jehu H1121 the son H2607 of Hanani H5927 , who is mentioned [H8717] H5612 in the book H4428 of the kings H3478 of Israel.

35 H310 And after H3092 this did Jehoshaphat H4428 king H3063 of Judah H2266 join [H8694] H274 himself with Ahaziah H4428 king H3478 of Israel H6213 , who did [H8800] H7561 very wickedly [H8689] :

36 H2266 And he joined [H8762] H6213 himself with him to make [H8800] H591 ships H3212 to go [H8800] H8659 to Tarshish H6213 : and they made [H8799] H591 the ships H6100 in Eziongeber.

37 H461 Then Eliezer H1121 the son H1735 of Dodavah H4762 of Mareshah H5012 prophesied [H8691] H3092 against Jehoshaphat H559 , saying [H8800] H2266 , Because thou hast joined [H8692] H274 thyself with Ahaziah H3068 , the LORD H6555 hath broken [H8804] H4639 thy works H591 . And the ships H7665 were broken [H8735] H6113 , that they were not able [H8804] H3212 to go [H8800] H8659 to Tarshish.
