2 Chronicles 25 Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign , and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem . And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

3 H4467 Now it came to pass, when the kingdom H2388 was established [H8804] H2026 to him, that he slew [H8799] H5650 his servants H5221 that had killed [H8688] H4428 the king H1 his father.

4 H4191 But he slew [H8689] H1121 not their children H3789 , but did as it is written [H8803] H8451 in the law H5612 in the book H4872 of Moses H3068 , where the LORD H6680 commanded [H8765] H559 , saying [H8800] H1 , The fathers H4191 shall not die [H8799] H1121 for the children H1121 , neither shall the children H4191 die [H8799] H1 for the fathers H376 , but every man H4191 shall die [H8799] H2399 for his own sin.

5 H558 Moreover Amaziah H6908 gathered H3063 Judah H6908 together [H8799] H5975 , and made [H8686] H8269 them captains H505 over thousands H8269 , and captains H3967 over hundreds H1004 , according to the houses H1 of their fathers H3063 , throughout all Judah H1144 and Benjamin H6485 : and he numbered [H8799] H6242 them from twenty H8141 years H1121 old H4605 and above H4672 , and found [H8799] H7969 them three H3967 hundred H505 thousand H977 choice [H8803] H3318 men, able to go forth [H8802] H6635 to war H270 , that could handle [H8802] H7420 spear H6793 and shield.

6 H7936 He hired [H8799] H3967 also an hundred H505 thousand H1368 mighty H2428 men of valour H3478 out of Israel H3967 for an hundred H3603 talents H3701 of silver.

7 H935 But there came [H8804] H376 a man H430 of God H559 to him, saying [H8800] H4428 , O king H6635 , let not the army H3478 of Israel H935 go [H8799] H3068 with thee; for the LORD H3478 is not with Israel H1121 , to wit, with all the children H669 of Ephraim.

8 H935 But if thou wilt go [H8798] H6213 , do [H8798] H2388 it, be strong [H8798] H4421 for the battle H430 : God H3782 shall make thee fall [H8686] H6440 before H341 the enemy [H8802] H430 : for God H3426 hath H3581 power H5826 to help [H8800] H3782 , and to cast down [H8687] .

9 H558 And Amaziah H559 said [H8799] H376 to the man H430 of God H6213 , But what shall we do [H8800] H3967 for the hundred H3603 talents H5414 which I have given [H8804] H1416 to the army H3478 of Israel H376 ? And the man H430 of God H559 answered [H8799] H3068 , The LORD H3426 is H5414 able to give [H8800] H7235 thee much more [H8687] than this.

10 H558 Then Amaziah H914 separated [H8686] H1416 them, to wit, the army H935 that was come [H8804] H669 to him out of Ephraim H3212 , to go H4725 home H3212 again [H8800] H639 : wherefore their anger H3966 was greatly H2734 kindled [H8799] H3063 against Judah H7725 , and they returned [H8799] H4725 home H2750 in great H639 anger.

19 H559 Thou sayest [H8804] H5221 , Lo, thou hast smitten [H8689] H123 the Edomites H3820 ; and thine heart H5375 lifteth thee up [H8804] H3513 to boast [H8687] H3427 : abide [H8798] H1004 now at home H1624 ; why shouldest thou meddle [H8691] H7451 to thine hurt H5307 , that thou shouldest fall [H8804] H3063 , even thou, and Judah with thee?

20 H558 But Amaziah H8085 would not hear [H8804] H430 ; for it came of God H5414 , that he might deliver [H8800] H3027 them into the hand H1875 of their enemies, because they sought [H8804] H430 after the gods H123 of Edom.

21 H3101 So Joash H4428 the king H3478 of Israel H5927 went up [H8799] H7200 ; and they saw one another [H8691] H6440 in the face H558 , both he and Amaziah H4428 king H3063 of Judah H1053 , at Bethshemesh H3063 , which belongeth to Judah.

22 H3063 And Judah H5062 was put to the worse [H8735] H6440 before H3478 Israel H5127 , and they fled [H8799] H376 every man H168 to his tent.

23 H3101 And Joash H4428 the king H3478 of Israel H8610 took [H8804] H558 Amaziah H4428 king H3063 of Judah H1121 , the son H3101 of Joash H1121 , the son H3059 of Jehoahaz H1053 , at Bethshemesh H935 , and brought [H8686] H3389 him to Jerusalem H6555 , and brake down [H8799] H2346 the wall H3389 of Jerusalem H8179 from the gate H669 of Ephraim H6437 to the corner [H8802] H8179 gate H702 , four H3967 hundred H520 cubits.

24 H2091 And he took all the gold H3701 and the silver H3627 , and all the vessels H4672 that were found [H8737] H1004 in the house H430 of God H5654 with Obededom H214 , and the treasures H4428 of the king's H1004 house H1121 , the hostages H8594 H7725 also, and returned [H8799] H8111 to Samaria.

25 H558 And Amaziah H1121 the son H3101 of Joash H4428 king H3063 of Judah H2421 lived [H8799] H310 after H4194 the death H3101 of Joash H1121 son H3059 of Jehoahaz H4428 king H3478 of Israel H2568 fifteen H6240 H8141 years.

26 H3499 Now the rest H1697 of the acts H558 of Amaziah H7223 , first H314 and last H3789 , behold, are they not written [H8803] H5612 in the book H4428 of the kings H3063 of Judah H3478 and Israel?

27 H6256 Now after the time H558 that Amaziah H5493 did turn away [H8804] H310 from following H3068 the LORD H7194 they made [H8799] H7195 a conspiracy H3389 against him in Jerusalem H5127 ; and he fled [H8799] H3923 to Lachish H7971 : but they sent [H8799] H3923 to Lachish H310 after H4191 him, and slew [H8686] him there.

28 H5375 And they brought [H8799] H5483 him upon horses H6912 , and buried [H8799] H1 him with his fathers H5892 in the city H3063 of Judah.
