2 Kings 7

  1 H477 Then Elisha H559 said [H8799]   H8085 , Hear [H8798]   H1697 ye the word H3068 of the LORD H559 ; Thus saith [H8804]   H3068 the LORD H4279 , To morrow H6256 about this time H5429 shall a measure H5560 of fine flour H8255 be sold for a shekel H5429 , and two measures H8184 of barley H8255 for a shekel H8179 , in the gate H8111 of Samaria.

  2 H7991 Then a lord H3027 on whose hand H4428 the king H8172 leaned [H8737]   H6030 answered [H8799]   H376 the man H430 of God H559 , and said [H8799]   H3068 , Behold, if the LORD H6213 would make [H8802]   H699 windows H8064 in heaven H1697 , might this thing H559 be? And he said [H8799]   H7200 , Behold, thou shalt see [H8802]   H5869 it with thine eyes H398 , but shalt not eat [H8799]   thereof.

  3 H702 And there were four H6879 leprous [H8794]   H582 men H6607 at the entering in H8179 of the gate H559 : and they said [H8799]   H376 one H7453 to another H3427 , Why sit [H8802]   H4191 we here until we die [H8804]  ?

  4 H559 If we say [H8804]   H935 , We will enter [H8799]   H5892 into the city H7458 , then the famine H5892 is in the city H4191 , and we shall die [H8804]   H3427 there: and if we sit still [H8804]   H4191 here, we die [H8804]   H3212 also. Now therefore come [H8798]   H5307 , and let us fall [H8799]   H4264 unto the host H758 of the Syrians H2421 : if they save us alive [H8762]   H2421 , we shall live [H8799]   H4191 ; and if they kill [H8686]   H4191 us, we shall but die [H8804]  .

  5 H6965 And they rose up [H8799]   H5399 in the twilight H935 , to go [H8800]   H4264 unto the camp H758 of the Syrians H935 : and when they were come [H8799]   H7097 to the uttermost part H4264 of the camp H758 of Syria H376 , behold, there was no man there.

  6 H136 For the Lord H4264 had made the host H758 of the Syrians H8085 to hear [H8689]   H6963 a noise H7393 of chariots H6963 , and a noise H5483 of horses H6963 , even the noise H1419 of a great H2428 host H559 : and they said [H8799]   H376 one H251 to another H4428 , Lo, the king H3478 of Israel H7936 hath hired [H8804]   H4428 against us the kings H2850 of the Hittites H4428 , and the kings H4714 of the Egyptians H935 , to come [H8800]   upon us.

  7 H6965 Wherefore they arose [H8799]   H5127 and fled [H8799]   H5399 in the twilight H5800 , and left [H8799]   H168 their tents H5483 , and their horses H2543 , and their asses H4264 , even the camp H5127 as it was, and fled [H8799]   H5315 for their life.

  8 H6879 And when these lepers [H8794]   H935 came [H8799]   H7097 to the uttermost part H4264 of the camp H935 , they went [H8799]   H259 into one H168 tent H398 , and did eat [H8799]   H8354 and drink [H8799]   H5375 , and carried [H8799]   H3701 thence silver H2091 , and gold H899 , and raiment H3212 , and went [H8799]   H2934 and hid [H8686]   H7725 it; and came again [H8799]   H935 , and entered [H8799]   H312 into another H168 tent H5375 , and carried [H8799]   H3212 thence also, and went [H8799]   H2934 and hid [H8686]   it .

  9 H559 Then they said [H8799]   H376 one H7453 to another H6213 , We do [H8802]   H3117 not well: this day H3117 is a day H1309 of good tidings H2814 , and we hold our peace [H8688]   H2442 : if we tarry [H8765]   H1242 till the morning H216 light H5771 , some mischief H4672 will come [H8804]   H3212 upon us: now therefore come [H8798]   H935 , that we may go [H8799]   H5046 and tell [H8686]   H4428 the king's H1004 household.

  10 H935 So they came [H8799]   H7121 and called [H8799]   H7778 unto the porter H5892 of the city H5046 : and they told [H8686]   H559 them, saying [H8800]   H935 , We came [H8804]   H4264 to the camp H758 of the Syrians H376 , and, behold, there was no man H6963 there, neither voice H120 of man H5483 , but horses H631 tied [H8803]   H2543 , and asses H631 tied [H8803]   H168 , and the tents as they were .

  11 H7121 And he called [H8799]   H7778 the porters H5046 ; and they told [H8686]   H4428 it to the king's H1004 house H6441 within.

  12 H4428 And the king H6965 arose [H8799]   H3915 in the night H559 , and said [H8799]   H5650 unto his servants H5046 , I will now shew [H8686]   H758 you what the Syrians H6213 have done [H8804]   H3045 to us. They know [H8804]   H7457 that we be hungry H3318 ; therefore are they gone out [H8799]   H4264 of the camp H2247 to hide [H8736]   H7704 themselves in the field H559 , saying [H8800]   H3318 , When they come out [H8799]   H5892 of the city H8610 , we shall catch [H8799]   H2416 them alive H935 , and get [H8799]   H5892 into the city.

  13 H259 And one H5650 of his servants H6030 answered [H8799]   H559 and said [H8799]   H3947 , Let some take [H8799]   H2568 , I pray thee, five H5483 of the horses H7604 that remain [H8737]   H7604 , which are left [H8738]   H1995 in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude H3478 of Israel H7604 that are left [H8738]   H1995 in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude H3478 of the Israelites H8552 that are consumed [H8804]   H7971 :) and let us send [H8799]   H7200 and see [H8799]  .

  14 H3947 They took [H8799]   H8147 therefore two H7393 chariot H5483 horses H4428 ; and the king H7971 sent [H8799]   H310 after H4264 the host H758 of the Syrians H559 , saying [H8800]   H3212 , Go [H8798]   H7200 and see [H8798]  .

  15 H3212 And they went [H8799]   H310 after H3383 them unto Jordan H1870 : and, lo, all the way H4392 was full H899 of garments H3627 and vessels H758 , which the Syrians H7993 had cast away [H8689]   H2648 in their haste [H8800]   H4397 . And the messengers H7725 returned [H8799]   H5046 , and told [H8686]   H4428 the king.

  16 H5971 And the people H3318 went out [H8799]   H962 , and spoiled [H8799]   H4264 the tents H758 of the Syrians H5429 . So a measure H5560 of fine flour H8255 was sold for a shekel H5429 , and two measures H8184 of barley H8255 for a shekel H1697 , according to the word H3068 of the LORD.

  17 H4428 And the king H6485 appointed [H8689]   H7991 the lord H3027 on whose hand H8172 he leaned [H8737]   H8179 to have the charge of the gate H5971 : and the people H7429 trode [H8799]   H8179 upon him in the gate H4191 , and he died [H8799]   H376 , as the man H430 of God H1696 had said [H8765]   H1696 , who spake [H8765]   H4428 when the king H3381 came down [H8800]   to him.

  18 H376 And it came to pass as the man H430 of God H1696 had spoken [H8763]   H4428 to the king H559 , saying [H8800]   H5429 , Two measures H8184 of barley H8255 for a shekel H5429 , and a measure H5560 of fine flour H8255 for a shekel H4279 , shall be to morrow H6256 about this time H8179 in the gate H8111 of Samaria:

  19 H7991 And that lord H6030 answered [H8799]   H376 the man H430 of God H559 , and said [H8799]   H3068 , Now, behold, if the LORD H6213 should make [H8802]   H699 windows H8064 in heaven H1697 , might such a thing H559 be? And he said [H8799]   H7200 , Behold, thou shalt see [H8802]   H5869 it with thine eyes H398 , but shalt not eat [H8799]   thereof.

  20 H5971 And so it fell out unto him: for the people H7429 trode [H8799]   H8179 upon him in the gate H4191 , and he died [H8799]  .
