Daniel 6

  1 H6925 It pleased H8232   [H8754]   H1868 Darius H6966 to set [H8684]   H5922 over H4437 the kingdom H3969 an hundred H6243 and twenty H324 princes H1934 , which should be [H8748]   H3606 over the whole H4437 kingdom;

  2 H5924 And over H4481 these H8532 three H5632 presidents H4481 ; of whom H1841 Daniel H2298 was first H459 : that H324 the princes H1934 might [H8748]   H3052 give [H8751]   H2941 accounts H4430 unto them, and the king H1934 should have [H8748]   H3809 no H5142 damage [H8752]  .

  3 H116 Then H1836 this H1841 Daniel H1934 was [H8754]   H5330 preferred [H8723]   H5922 above H5632 the presidents H324 and princes H3606 , because H6903   H3493 an excellent H7308 spirit H4430 was in him; and the king H6246 thought [H8754]   H6966 to set [H8682]   H5922 him over H3606 the whole H4437 realm.

  4 H116 Then H5632 the presidents H324 and princes H1934 sought [H8754]   H1156   [H8750]   H7912 to find [H8682]   H5931 occasion H1841 against Daniel H6655 concerning H4437 the kingdom H3606 ; but H3202 they could [H8750]   H7912 find [H8682]   H3809 none H5931 occasion H3809 nor H7844 fault [H8752]   H6903 ; forasmuch H540 as he was faithful [H8683]   H3809 , neither H3606 was there any H7960 error H7844 or fault [H8752]   H7912 found [H8728]   H5922 in him.

  5 H116 Then H560 said [H8750]   H479 these H1400 men H3809 , We shall not H7912 find [H8684]   H3606 any H5931 occasion H5922 against H1836 this H1841 Daniel H3861 , except H7912 we find [H8681]   H1882 it against him concerning the law H426 of his God.

  6 H116 Then H459 these H5632 presidents H324 and princes H7284 assembled together [H8684]   H4430 to the king H560 , and said [H8750]   H3652 thus H5922 unto him H4430 , King H1868 Darius H2418 , live [H8747]   H5957 for ever.

  7 H3606 All H5632 the presidents H4437 of the kingdom H5460 , the governors H324 , and the princes H1907 , the counsellors H6347 , and the captains H3272 , have consulted together [H8724]   H6966 to establish [H8742]   H4430 a royal H7010 statute H8631 , and to make a firm [H8742]   H633 decree H1156 , that whosoever shall ask [H8748]   H1159 a petition H4481 of H3606 any H426 God H606 or man H5705 for H8533 thirty H3118 days H3861 , save H4481 of thee H4430 , O king H7412 , he shall be cast [H8729]   H1358 into the den H744 of lions.

  8 H3705 Now H4430 , O king H6966 , establish [H8681]   H633 the decree H7560 , and sign [H8748]   H3792 the writing H3809 , that it be not H8133 changed [H8682]   H1882 , according to the law H4076 of the Medes H6540 and Persians H5709 , which altereth [H8748]   H3809 not.

  9 H3606 Wherefore H1836   H6903   H4430 king H1868 Darius H7560 signed [H8754]   H3792 the writing H633 and the decree.

  10 H1841 Now when Daniel H3046 knew [H8754]   H3792 that the writing H7560 was signed [H8752]   H5954 , he went [H8754]   H1005 into his house H3551 ; and his windows H6606 being open [H8759]   H5952 in his chamber H5049 toward H3390 Jerusalem H1289 , he kneeled [H8750]   H5922 upon H1291 his knees H8532 three H2166 times H3118 a day H6739 , and prayed [H8743]   H3029 , and gave thanks [H8683]   H6925 before H426 his God H6903 , as H3606   H1934 he did [H8754]   H5648   [H8751]   H4481 aforetime H1836   H6928  .

  11 H116 Then H479 these H1400 men H7284 assembled [H8684]   H7912 , and found [H8684]   H1841 Daniel H1156 praying [H8750]   H2604 and making supplication [H8723]   H6925 before H426 his God.

  12 H116 Then H7127 they came near [H8754]   H560 , and spake [H8750]   H6925 before H4430 the king H5922 concerning H4430 the king's H633 decree H3809 ; Hast thou not H7560 signed [H8754]   H633 a decree H3606 , that every H606 man H1156 that shall ask [H8748]   H4481 a petition of H3606 any H426 God H606 or man H5705 within H8533 thirty H3118 days H3861 , save H4481 of thee H4430 , O king H7412 , shall be cast [H8729]   H1358 into the den H744 of lions H4430 ? The king H6032 answered [H8750]   H560 and said [H8750]   H4406 , The thing H3330 is true H1882 , according to the law H4076 of the Medes H6540 and Persians H5709 , which altereth [H8748]   H3809 not.

  13 H116 Then H6032 answered [H8754]   H560 they and said [H8750]   H6925 before H4430 the king H1841 , That Daniel H4481 , which is of H1123 the children H1547 of the captivity H3061 of Judah H7761 , regardeth [H8754]   H2942   H3809 not H5922 thee H4430 , O king H633 , nor the decree H7560 that thou hast signed [H8754]   H1156 , but maketh [H8750]   H1159 his petition H8532 three H2166 times H3118 a day.

  14 H116 Then H4430 the king H8086 , when he heard [H8754]   H4406 these words H7690 , was sore H888 displeased [H8754]   H7761 with himself, and set [H8754]   H1079 his heart H5922 on H1841 Daniel H7804 to deliver [H8756]   H1934 him: and he laboured [H8754]   H7712   [H8723]   H5705 till H4606 the going down H8122 of the sun H5338 to deliver [H8682]   him.

  15 H116 Then H479 these H1400 men H7284 assembled [H8684]   H5922 unto H4430 the king H560 , and said [H8750]   H4430 unto the king H3046 , Know [H8747]   H4430 , O king H1882 , that the law H4076 of the Medes H6540 and Persians H3606 is, That no H633 decree H7010 nor statute H4430 which the king H6966 establisheth [H8681]   H8133 may be changed [H8682]  .

  16 H116 Then H4430 the king H560 commanded [H8754]   H858 , and they brought [H8684]   H1841 Daniel H7412 , and cast [H8754]   H1358 him into the den H744 of lions H4430 . Now the king H6032 spake [H8750]   H560 and said [H8750]   H1841 unto Daniel H426 , Thy God H607 whom thou H6399 servest [H8750]   H8411 continually H7804 , he will deliver [H8755]   thee.

  17 H2298 And a H69 stone H858 was brought [H8717]   H7761 , and laid [H8752]   H5922 upon H6433 the mouth H1358 of the den H4430 ; and the king H2857 sealed [H8754]   H5824 it with his own signet H5824 , and with the signet H7261 of his lords H6640 ; that the purpose H3809 might not H8133 be changed [H8748]   H1841 concerning Daniel.

  18 H116 Then H4430 the king H236 went [H8754]   H1965 to his palace H956 , and passed the night [H8754]   H2908 fasting H3809 : neither H1761 were instruments H5954 of musick brought [H8684]   H6925 before H8139 him: and his sleep H5075 went [H8754]   H5922 from him.

  19 H116 Then H4430 the king H6966 arose [H8748]   H8238 very early H5053 in the morning H236 , and went [H8754]   H927 in haste [H8726]   H1358 unto the den H744 of lions.

  20 H7127 And when he came [H8749]   H1358 to the den H2200 , he cried [H8754]   H6088 with a lamentable [H8750]   H7032 voice H1841 unto Daniel H4430 : and the king H6032 spake [H8750]   H560 and said [H8750]   H1841 to Daniel H1841 , O Daniel H5649 , servant H2417 of the living H426 God H426 , is thy God H6399 , whom thou servest [H8750]   H8411 continually H3202 , able [H8754]   H7804 to deliver [H8756]   H4481 thee from H744 the lions?

  21 H116 Then H4449 said [H8745]   H1841 Daniel H5974 unto H4430 the king H4430 , O king H2418 , live [H8747]   H5957 for ever.

  22 H426 My God H7972 hath sent [H8754]   H4398 his angel H5463 , and hath shut [H8754]   H744 the lions H6433 ' mouths H3809 , that they have not H2255 hurt [H8745]   H3606 me: forasmuch as H6903   H6925 before H2136 him innocency H7912 was found [H8728]   H638 in me; and also H6925 before H4430 thee, O king H5648 , have I done [H8754]   H3809 no H2248 hurt.

  23 H116 Then H4430 was the king H7690 exceeding H2868 glad [H8754]   H5922 for him H560 , and commanded [H8754]   H5267 that they should take H1841 Daniel H5267 up [H8682]   H4481 out of H1358 the den H1841 . So Daniel H5267 was taken up [H8717]   H4481 out of H1358 the den H3809 , and no H3606 manner H2257 of hurt H7912 was found [H8728]   H540 upon him, because he believed [H8684]   H426 in his God.

  24 H4430 And the king H560 commanded [H8754]   H858 , and they brought [H8684]   H479 those H1400 men H399 which had accused [H8754]   H7170   H1841 Daniel H7412 , and they cast [H8754]   H1358 them into the den H744 of lions H581 , them H1123 , their children H5389 , and their wives H744 ; and the lions H5705 had the mastery H7981   [H8754]   H1855 of them, and brake H3606 all H1635 their bones H1855 in pieces [H8684]   H3809 or ever H4291 they came [H8754]   H773 at the bottom H1358 of the den.

  25 H116 Then H4430 king H1868 Darius H3790 wrote [H8754]   H3606 unto all H5972 people H524 , nations H3961 , and languages H1753 , that dwell [H8748]   H3606 in all H772 the earth H8001 ; Peace H7680 be multiplied [H8748]   unto you.

  26 H4481 I H6925   H7761 make [H8752]   H2942 a decree H3606 , That in every H7985 dominion H4437 of my kingdom H1934 men tremble [H8748]   H2112   H1763 and fear [H8751]   H4481 before H6925   H426 the God H1841 of Daniel H2417 : for he is the living H426 God H7011 , and stedfast H5957 for ever H4437 , and his kingdom H3809 that which shall not H2255 be destroyed [H8721]   H7985 , and his dominion H5705 shall be even unto H5491 the end.

  27 H7804 He delivereth [H8757]   H5338 and rescueth [H8683]   H5648 , and he worketh [H8751]   H852 signs H8540 and wonders H8065 in heaven H772 and in earth H7804 , who hath delivered [H8758]   H1841 Daniel H4481 from H3028 the power H744 of the lions.

  28 H1836 So this H1841 Daniel H6744 prospered [H8684]   H4437 in the reign H1868 of Darius H4437 , and in the reign H3567 of Cyrus H6543 the Persian.
