MSTC(i) 1 These are the priests and Levites that went up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and with Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra, 2 Amariah, Malluch, Hattush, 3 Shecaniah, Rehum, Meremoth, 4 Iddo, Ginnethoi, Abijah, 5 Mijamin, Maadiah, Bilgah, 6 Shemaiah, and Joiarib and Jedaiah, 7 Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, Jedaiah. These were the heads among the priests and their brethren in the time of Jeshua. 8 The Levites were these: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, over the office of thanksgiving, they and their brethren: 9 Bakbukiah and Unni, and their brethren, were about them in the watches. 10 Jeshua begat Joiakim, Joiakim begat Eliashib, Eliashib begat Joiada. 11 Joiada begat Jonathan, Jonathan begat Jaddua. 12 And in the time of Joiakim were these the chief fathers among the priests: under Seraiah was Meraiah; under Jeremiah was Hananiah; 13 under Ezra, Meshullam; under Amariah, Jehohanan; 14 under Malluchi, Jonathan; under Shebaniah, Joseph; 15 under Harim, Adna; under Meraioth, Helkai; 16 under Iddo, Zechariah; under Ginnethon, Meshullam; 17 under Abijah, Zichri; under Miniamin and Moadiah Piltai; 18 under Bilgah, Shammua; under Shemaiah, Jehonathan; 19 under Joiarib, Mattenai; under Jedaiah, Uzzi; 20 under Sallai, Kallai; under Amok, Eber; 21 under Hilkiah, Hashabiah; under Jedaiah, Nethanel. 22 And in the time of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan and Jaddua, were the chief fathers among the Levites and the priests written under the reign of Darius the Persian. 23 The children of Levi the principal fathers were written in the Chronicles, until the time of Jonathan the son of Eliashib. 24 And these were the chief among the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, and their brethren over against them, to give praise and thanks, according as David the man of God had ordained it, one watch over against another. 25 Mattaniah, Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, and Akkub were porters in the watch at the thresholds of the gates. 26 These were in the time of Joiakim the son of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and in the time of Nehemiah the captain and of the priest Ezra the scribe. 27 And in the dedication of the wall at Jerusalem, were the Levites sought out of all their places, that they might be brought to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication and gladness, with thanksgivings, with singing, with cymbals, Psalteries, and harps. 28 And the children of the singers gathered themselves together from the plain country about Jerusalem, and from the villages of Netophathi, 29 and from the house of Gilgal, and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth: for the singers had builded them villages about Jerusalem. 30 And the priests and Levites purified themselves, and cleansed the people, the gates and the wall. 31 And I caused the princes of Judah to go up upon the wall, and appointed two great choirs of thanksgiving, which went on the righthand of the wall toward the Dung gate, 32 and after them went Hoshaiah, and half of the princes of Judah, 33 and Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam, 34 Judah, Benjamin, and Shemaiah, and Jeremiah: 35 and certain of the priests' children with trumpets, namely Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph, 36 and his brethren, Shemaiah, and Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, and Judah, and Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God. And Ezra the scribe before them, 37 toward the Wellgate, and they went up over against them upon the steps of the city of David at the going up of the wall to the house of David, unto the Watergate Eastward. 38 The other choir of thanksgiving went over against them, and I after them, and the half part of the people upon the wall, toward the Furnacegate upward, until the broad wall, 39 and to the port of Ephraim, and to the Oldgate, and to the Fishgate, and to the tower of Hananel, and to the tower of Meah, until the Sheepgate. And in the prison gate they stood still, 40 and so stood the two choirs of thanksgiving of the house of God, and I and the half of the rulers with me, 41 and the priests, namely Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Michaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets, 42 and Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malchijah, Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loud, and Jezrahiah was the overseer. 43 And the same day were there great sacrifices offered, and they rejoiced: for God had given them great gladness, so that both the wives and children were joyful, and the mirth of Jerusalem was heard afar off. 44 At the same time were there men appointed over the treasure chests - wherein were the Heave offerings, the firstlings and the tithes - that they should gather them out of the fields about the cities, to distribute them unto the priests and Levites according to the law: for Judah was glad of the priests, and Levites, 45 that they stood and waited upon the office of their God, and the office of the purification. And the singers and porters stood after the commandment of David and of Solomon his son: 46 for in the time of David and Asaph, were the chief singers founded, and the songs of praise and thanksgiving unto God. 47 In the time of Zerubbabel, and Nehemiah, did all Israel give portions unto the singers and porters, every day his portion, and they gave things hallowed unto the Levites, and the Levites gave things that were sanctified, unto the children of Aaron.
