Genesis 4

Matthew(i) 1 And Adam laye wt Heua his wyfe, whiche conceyued & bare Cayn, & sayde: I haue goten a man of the Lord. 2 And she proceded forth and bare hys brother Abell: and Abell became a shepherde, and Cayn became a plowman. 3 And it fortuned in processe of tyme, that Cayn brought of the fruite of the erth, an offerynge vnto the Lorde. 4 And Abell he brought also of the fyrstlynges of hys shepe, & of the fatt of them. And the Lord loked vnto Abel and to hys offrynge, 5 but vnto Cayn & vnto hys offrynge loked he not. And Cayn was wroth exceadyngly, & loured. 6 And the Lorde sayd vnto Cayn: why art thou angry, & why lourest thou? Wotest thou not yf thou dost well thou shalt receyue it? 7 But and yf thou dost euell, by & by thy synne lyeth open in the dore. Notwithstandyng let it be subdued vnto the, and sea thou rule it. 8 And Cayn talked with Abel hys brother. And as soone as they were in the feldes, Cayn fell vpon Abell hys brother, & slewe hym. 9 And the Lorde sayd vnto Cayn: where is Abel thy brother? And he sayde: I can not tell, am I my brothers keper? 10 And he sayde: What hast thou done? The voyce of thy brothers bloude cryeth vnto me oute of the erth. 11 And now curssed be thou as pertaining to the erth, whyche opened her mouth to receyue thy brothers bloude of thyne hande. 12 For when thou tyllest the grounde she shall henceforth not geue her power vnto the. A vagabunde and a rennagate shalt thou be vpon the erth. 13 And Cayn sayd vnto the Lorde: my synne is greater, then that it may be forgeuen. 14 Beholde thou castest me out thys daye from the face of the erth, & from thy syghte must I hyde myself, & I must be wandrynge and a vagabunde vpon the erth: Moreouer whosoeuer fyndeth me, wyl kyl me. 15 And the Lorde sayd vnto him: Not so, but whosoeuer sleith Cayn shalbe punisshed .vij. folde. And the Lord put a marke vpon Cayn that no man that founde hym should kyl him. 16 And Cayn went out from the face of the Lorde, and dwelt in the lande Nod, on the east syde of Eden. 17 And Cayn laye wyth his wyf, which conceyued & bare Henoch. And he was buylding a cyte, & called the name of it after the name of hys sonne, Henoch. 18 And Henoch begat Irad. And Irad begat Mahuiael. And Mahuiael begat Mathusael. And Mathusael begat Lamech. 19 And Lamech toke him two wyues: the one is called Ada, & the other Zilla. 20 And Ada bare Iaball, of whome came they that dwell in tentes, & possesse catell. 21 And his brothers name was Iubal, of hym came all that exercyse them selues on the harpe & on the organs. 22 And Zilla she also bare Tubalcayn a worker in metal & a father of all that graue in brasse & yeron. And Tubalcayns syster was called Naema. 23 Then sayde Lamech vnto his wyues Ada & Zilla: heare my voice ye wiues of Lamech & herken vnto my wordes, for I haue slayne a man & wounded my self, & haue slayn a yong man, & gotte my self strypes: 24 for Cayn shall be auenged seuenfolde, but Lamech seuentye tymes seuenfolde. 25 Adam also laye wyth hys wyfe yet agayne, & she bare a sonne & called his name Seth. For God (sayd she) hath geuen me another sonne for Abel whom Cayn slewe. 26 And Seth begat a sonne, & called hys name Enos. And in that tyme began men to cal on the name of the Lord.
