But Baruch the sonne of Neriah prouoketh the agaynst vs, that he might brynge vs into the captiuite of the Caldees: that they myght slay vs, and carye vs away presoners vnto Babylon.
So Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, & al the captaynes of the Hoste, and al the people folowed not the commaundement of the Lord. Namely, to dwell in the lande of Iuda:
But Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaynes of the Hoste, caryed awaye al the remnaunte in Iuda, that were come together agayne from the Heathen (amonge whome they had bene scatred) to dwell in the land of Iuda.
Men, wemen, chyldren, the kynges doughters, all those that Nabuzaradan the chefe captayne had left with Godoliah the sonne of Ahikam. They caryed awaye also the prophet Ieremy, Baruch the sonne of Neriah,
& so came into Egipte: for they were not obeyent vnto the commaundement of God. Thus came they to Thaphnis.
And in Thaphnis the word of the Lorde happened vnto Ieremy, sayinge:
Take great stones in thyne hande, and hide them in the bryckwall, vnder the dore of Pharaos house in Thaphnis that all the men of Iuda maye se,
and saye vnto them. Thus sayeth the Lord of Hostes the God of Israell: Beholde I wil sende and cal for Nabuchodonozor the kinge of Babilon my seruaunt, and wyll set hys seate vpon these stones that I haue hyd, and he shall sprede hys tente ouer them.
And when he commeth, he shall smyte the lande of Egipte with slaughter, with presonment, and with the swerde.
He shal set fyre vpon the tempels of the Egipcians Goddes, and burne them vp, & take them selues presoners. Moreouer he shall araye him selfe with the lande of Egipte, lyke as a sheperde putteth on his cote, and shal departe his waye from thence in peace.
The pylers also of the temple of the sunne that is in Egipte: shall he breake in peaces, and burne the tempels of the Egypcians Goddes.
