2 Chronicles 17

VIN(i) 1 Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place, and strengthened himself against Israel. 2 And he put troops in all the fortified cities of Judah, and put garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had taken. 3 The LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and did not seek the Baals, 4 but sought the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not in the ways of Israel. 5 So the LORD established the kingdom in his hand. And all Judah gave tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had much wealth and honor. 6 His heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD. Furthermore, he removed the high places and the Asherim out of Judah. 7 In the third year of his reign he sent his officials, Ben-Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah; 8 With them were the Levites Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, Tob Adonijah, and the priests Elishama and Jehoram. 9 and they taught throughout Judah, and, with them, was the book of the law of the LORD,—so they went round throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people. 10 And the fear of the LORD fell on all the kingdoms of the lands around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat. 11 And the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and tribute of silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred he goats. 12 Jehoshaphat grew great exceedingly; and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah. 13 And he had many supplies in the cities of Judah and mighty warriors for battle in Jerusalem. 14 Here's how they were mustered, listed according to their ancestral houses and listed by commanders of thousand: Adnah commanded 300,000 elite forces. 15 Near him was Johanan, commander of 280,000 16 There was Amasiah, Zichri’s son, who volunteered to serve the LORD with two hundred thousand fighting men. 17 From Benjamin: Eliada, a mighty man of valor, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield; 18 and after him Jozabad, and with him eighty chiliads, mighties of battle. 19 These were the men who served the king in addition to those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout Judah.
