14 And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, of which were made articles for the house of the LORD, even articles for ministering, and for offering, and spoons, and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.
15 When Jodae was old, being full of days, he died at the age of a hundred and thirty years,
16 And they buried him with the kings in the City of David, because he had dealt well with Israel, and with God and his house.
17 Now after the death of Jehoiada the leaders of Judah came and paid homage to the king. And the king listened to them.
18 They abandoned the LORD's temple and the God of their fathers, and they served Asherim and idols. As a result this guilt of theirs resulted in wrath coming upon Judah and Jerusalem.
19 Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again to Yahweh, and they testified against them; but they would not listen.
20 The Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest; and he stood above the people, and said to them, “God says, 'Why do you disobey the LORD's commandments, so that you can't prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, he has also forsaken you.'”
21 But the people conspired against him, and at the direct orders of the king they stoned him to death in the courtyard of the LORD's temple.
22 So King Joash did not remember the loyal love that Jehoiada had shown to him, and he killed his son. And as he was dying he said, "May the LORD see and avenge!"
