Ezekiel 12

VIN(i) 1 The word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 "Son of man, you are living among rebellious people. They have eyes, but they cannot see. They have ears, but they cannot hear because they are rebellious people. 3 Therefore, you son of man, prepare you belongings for moving, and move by day in their sight; and you shall move from your place to another place in their sight: it may be they will consider, though they are a rebellious house. 4 »Bring out your bags as if you were going into exile. Let them see this in the daylight. In the evening let them see you leave like a captive going into exile. 5 Dig through the wall in their sight, and carry out your belongings through it. 6 "Let them see you put your bags on your shoulders and carry them out in the dark. Cover your face so that you won't see the land. I have made you a sign to warn the nation of Israel." 7 I did as I was commanded: I brought forth my belongings by day, as if for exile, and in the evening I dug through the wall with my hand; I brought it forth in the dark, and carried it on my shoulder in their sight. 8 And in the morning the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 9 "Son of man, did the rebellious nation of Israel ask you what you were doing? 10 Say to them, 'Thus says the Sovereign LORD: This burden concerns the prince in Jerusalem, and all the people of Israel who are in it'. 11 Say, I am your sign: As I have done, so it shall be done to them. They shall go into exile, into captivity. 12 '"The prince who is among you will put his bags on his shoulders in the dark and leave. People will dig holes in the wall to go through. The prince will cover his face so that he cannot see the land.'" 13 And I will spread out my net on him, and he will be captured in my hunting snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans, but he will not see it, and there he will die. 14 "I will scatter to every wind all who are around him, his helpers and all his troops. I will draw out a sword after them. 15 “'They will know that I am the LORD when I disperse them among the nations, and scatter them through the countries. 16 "I will spare a few of them from the sword, the famine and the pestilence that they may tell all their abominations among the nations where they go, and may know that I am the LORD." 17 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 18 Son of man, take your food with shaking fear, and your water with trouble and care; 19 "Then say to the people of the land: 'The Sovereign LORD says concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the land of Israel, They will eat their bread with anxiety and drink their water with horror, because their land will be stripped of its fullness on account of the violence of all who live in it. 20 '"The inhabited cities will be laid waste and the land will be a desolation. So you will know that I am the LORD."' 21 Then the word of the LORD came to me: 22 Son of man, what is this saying which you have about the land of Israel, The time is long and every vision comes to nothing? 23 Therefore say to them, 'Thus says the Sovereign LORD: "I will put an end to this proverb, and they will not quote it as a proverb again in Israel." ' But say to them, 'The days are near, and also the word of every vision.' 24 For there will be no more any false vision nor flattering divination within the house of Israel. 25 For I, the LORD, will speak, and the Word that I shall speak shall be done. It shall no more be delayed; for in your days, O rebellious house, I will say the Word and will do it, says the Sovereign LORD. 26 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 27 Son of man, behold, the house of Israel says, The vision that he sees is for many days to come, and he prophesies of the times that are far off. 28 Therefore say to them, 'Thus says the Sovereign LORD: "None of my words will be prolonged any longer that I speak as a word, and it will be fulfilled!" '" declares the Sovereign LORD.
