Ezekiel 44

VIN(i) 1 And he brought me back by the way of the outer gate of the sanctuary that is facing east, and it was shut. 2 And the LORD said to me, "This gate will be shut. It shall not be opened, and no one will go through it, for the LORD, the God of Israel, has entered it, and it will be shut. 3 "Only the prince may sit there and eat food in the presence of the LORD. He will enter through the entrance hall of the gateway and leave the same way." 4 Then he brought me by way of the north gate to the front of the house: and I looked, and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD: and I fell upon my face. 5 And the LORD said to me, Son of man, note carefully: see with your eyes, and hear with your ears all that I say to you concerning all the ordinances of the house of the LORD, and all its laws. And set your heart to the entrance of the house, with all the exits of the sanctuary. 6 and have said unto the rebellious, unto the house of Israel:Thus said the Sovereign LORD:Enough to you--of all your abominations, O house of Israel." 7 At your bringing foreigners who are uncircumcised of heart and uncircumcised of flesh to be in my sanctuary to profane it, my temple, as you offered my food, fat, and blood, so you broke my covenant by all of your detestable things. 8 »‘You did not take care of my holy things. You put foreigners in charge of my Temple!«’ 9 Thus says the Sovereign LORD, No foreigner, uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into My sanctuary, of any foreigners who are among the people of Israel. 10 "'But the Levites, who went far from me when Israel went astray, who went astray from me after their idols, will bear the punishment for their iniquity. 11 And they were serving in my holy place, reviewing at the gates of the house, and serving the house: they shall slaughter the burnt-offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to serve them. 12 Because they served them before their idols and caused the house of Israel to fall into iniquity; therefore I have lifted up my hand regarding them, said the Lord GOD, that they shall bear their iniquity. 13 And they shall not come near unto me, to serve me as priests, nor to come near to any of my holy things, to my most holy things: but they shall bear their shame and their abominations which they have committed. 14 But I will make them to keep charge of the house, for all its service, and for all that shall be done in it. 15 But the Levitical priests, the descendants of Zadok, who cared for the responsibility of my sanctuary when the Israelites went astray from me, they will approach me to serve me, and they will stand before me to offer to me fat and blood," declares the Sovereign LORD. 16 "'They will enter my sanctuary and come near my table to minister to me and keep my charge. 17 And then when they come to the gates of the inner courtyards, they shall put on their inner linen garments and not wear wool garments when they serve in the gates of the inner courtyard and inside the temple. 18 "'They must wear linen turbans on their heads and linen undergarments. They must not wear anything that makes them sweat. 19 When they go out to the outer courtyard to the people, they must take off their garment in which they were serving, and they must place them in the holy chambers, and they must put on other garments, so that they will not make the people holy with their garments. 20 "'They must not shave their heads or let their hair grow long. They must keep the hair on their heads trimmed. 21 No priest drinks wine in entering the inner court. 22 "'They must not marry widows or women who have been divorced. They may marry only virgins from the nation of Israel or widows of priests.' 23 They shall teach my people the difference between the holy and the common, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean. 24 In any cause, they are to be in the position of judges, judging in harmony with my decisions: they are to keep my laws and my rules in all my fixed feasts; and they are to keep my Sabbaths holy. 25 "'A priest must not make himself unclean by going near a dead body. But a priest may become unclean if the dead person is his father, mother, son, daughter, brother, or unmarried sister. 26 "'After a priest is made clean, he must wait seven days. 27 And in the day he goes into the sanctuary, to the inner court, to minister in the sanctuary, he shall bring his sin offering, declares the Sovereign LORD. 28 "'They shall have an inheritance: I am their inheritance; and you shall give them no possession in Israel; I am their possession. 29 "'They will eat grain offerings, offerings for sin, and guilt offerings. Everything in Israel that is devoted to the LORD will belong to them. 30 And the first of all the first-fruits of all, and every heave-offering of all, of all your heave-offerings, are the priests':and the first of your dough you give to the priest, to cause a blessing to rest on your house." 31 The priests eat not of any carcase or torn - flyer or animal.
