1 My spirit is broken, my days are cut short, the grave is ready for me.
2 »Mockers surrounded me. My eye dwells on their provocation.
3 Lay down a surety for me with you; who is he that will give surety for me?
4 Indeed, you have closed their mind from understanding; therefore, you will not let them triumph.
5 He who denounces his friends for plunder, Even the eyes of his children will fail.
6 He has made me also a byword of the peoples; and I am one in whose face they spit.
7 My eyes have grown weak from grief; and my whole body is as thin as a shadow.
8 Upright men are appalled at this, And the innocent man rouses himself against the polluted,
9 »Yet, the righteous person clings to his way, and the one with clean hands grows stronger.
10 "But now, you must come and try again! I will not find one wise man among you.
11 My days have passed; my plans are broken off, the desires of my heart.
12 They have turned night into day, and after darkness I hope for light again.
13 If I wait for Sheol as my house, I have spread out my bed in the darkness;
14 if I have said to corruption, 'You are my father;' to the worm, 'My mother,' and 'My sister,'
15 "Where is my hope? Can you see any hope left in me?
16 Will they go down to the bars of Sheol? Or shall we descend together into the dust?"
