Ecclesiastes 8 Who is like the wise man? And who knows the interpretation of a thing? A man's wisdom makes his face shine, and the hardness of his face is changed.

2 H8104 I say, "Keep H4428 the king's H6310 command!" H1700 because H7621 of the oath H430 to God.

3 H926 Don't be hasty H3212 to go out H6440 of his presence. H5975 Don't persist H7451 in an evil H1697 thing, H6213 for he does H2654 whatever pleases him,

4 H4428 for the king's H1697 word H7983 is supreme. H559 Who can say H6213 to him, "What are you doing?"

5 H8104 Whoever keeps H4687 the commandment H3045 shall not come H1697 to H7451 harm, H2450 and his H3820 wise heart H3045 will know H6256 the time H4941 and procedure.

7 H3045 For he doesn't know H5046 that which will be; for who can tell him how it will be?

8 H120 There is no man H7989 who has power H7307 over the spirit H3607 to contain H7307 the spirit; H7983 neither does he have power H3117 over the day H4194 of death. H4917 There is no discharge H4421 in war; H7562 neither shall wickedness H4422 deliver H1167 those who practice it.

9 H7200 All this have I seen, H5414 and applied H3820 my mind H4639 to every work H6213 that is done H8121 under the sun. H6256 There is a time H120 in which one man H7980 has power H7451 over another to his hurt.

10 H3651 So H7200 I saw H7563 the wicked H6912 buried. H935 Indeed they came H1980 also H4725 from holiness. H935 They went H7911 and were forgotten H5892 in the city H6213 where they did H1892 this. This also is vanity.

11 H6599 Because sentence H7451 against an evil H4639 work H6213 is not executed H4120 speedily, H3820 therefore the heart H1121 of the sons H120 of men H4390 is fully set H6213 in them to do H7451 evil.

12 H2398 Though a sinner H6213 commits H7451 crimes H3967 a hundred times, H748 and lives long, H3045 yet surely I know H2896 that it will be better H3373 with those who fear H430 God, H3372 who are reverent H6440 before him.

13 H2896 But it shall not be well H7563 with the wicked, H748 neither shall he lengthen H3117 days H6738 like a shadow; H6440 because he doesn't H3373 fear H430 God.

14 H3426 There is H1892 a vanity H6213 which is done H776 on the earth, H6662 that there are righteous H5060 men to whom it happens H4639 according to the work H7563 of the wicked. H3426 Again, there are H7563 wicked H5060 men to whom it happens H4639 according to the work H6662 of the righteous. H559 I said H1571 that this also H1892 is vanity.

15 H7623 Then I commended H8057 mirth, H120 because a man H2896 has no better thing H8121 under the sun, H398 than to eat, H8354 and to drink, H8055 and to be joyful: H3867 for that will accompany H5999 him in his labor H3117 all the days H2416 of his life H430 which God H5414 has given H8121 him under the sun.

16 H5414 When I applied H3820 my heart H3045 to know H2451 wisdom, H7200 and to see H6045 the business H6213 that is done H776 on the earth H3117 (for also there is that neither day H3915 nor night H7200 sees H8142 sleep H5869 with his eyes),

17 H7200 then I saw H4639 all the work H430 of God, H120 that man H3201 can't H4672 find out H4639 the work H6213 that is done H8121 under the sun, H834 because H7945 however H120 much a man H5998 labors H1245 to seek it out, H4672 yet he won't find H2450 it. Yes even though a wise H559 man thinks H3045 he can comprehend H3201 it, he won't be able H4672 to find it.
