Ezekiel 20 It happened in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of Yahweh, and sat before me.

1 H7637 It happened in the seventh H8141 year, H2549 in the fifth H6218 month, the tenth H2320 day of the month, H582 that certain H2205 of the elders H3478 of Israel H935 came H1875 to inquire H3068 of Yahweh, H3427 and sat H6440 before me.

2 H1697 The word H3068 of Yahweh H559 came to me, saying,

3 H1121 Son H120 of man, H1696 speak H2205 to the elders H3478 of Israel, H559 and tell H559 them, Thus says H136 the Lord H136 Yahweh: H1875 Is it to inquire H935 of me that you have come? H2416 As I live, H5002 says H136 the Lord H3069 Yahweh, H1875 I will not be inquired of by you.

4 H8199 Will you judge H1121 them, son H120 of man, H8199 will you judge H3045 them? Cause them to know H8441 the abominations H1 of their fathers;

5 H559 and tell H559 them, Thus says H136 the Lord H3069 Yahweh: H3117 In the day H977 when I chose H3478 Israel, H3027 and swore H5375 to H2233 the seed H1004 of the house H3290 of Jacob, H3045 and made myself known H776 to them in the land H4714 of Egypt, H3027 when I swore H5375 to H559 them, saying, H3068 I am Yahweh H430 your God;

6 H3117 in that day H3027 I swore H5375 to H3318 them, to bring them forth H776 out of the land H4714 of Egypt H776 into a land H8446 that I had searched H2100 out for them, flowing H2461 with milk H1706 and honey, H6643 which is the glory H776 of all lands.

7 H559 I said H7993 to them, Cast away H376 every man H8251 the abominations H5869 of his eyes, H2930 and don't defile H1544 yourselves with the idols H4714 of Egypt; H3068 I am Yahweh H430 your God.

8 H4784 But they rebelled H14 against me, and would H8085 not listen H376 to me; they each H7993 didn't throw away H8251 the abominations H5869 of their eyes, H5800 neither did they forsake H1544 the idols H4714 of Egypt. H559 Then I said H8210 I would pour out H2534 my wrath H3615 on them, to accomplish H639 my anger H8432 against them in the midst H776 of the land H4714 of Egypt.

9 H6213 But I worked H8034 for my name's H2490 sake, that it should not be profaned H5869 in the sight H1471 of the nations, H8432 among H5869 which they were, in whose sight H3045 I made myself known H3318 to them, in bringing them forth H776 out of the land H4714 of Egypt.

10 H3318 So I caused them to go forth H776 out of the land H4714 of Egypt, H935 and brought H4057 them into the wilderness.

11 H5414 I gave H2708 them my statutes, H3045 and showed H4941 them my ordinances, H120 which if a man H6213 does, H2425 he shall live in them.

12 H5414 Moreover also I gave H7676 them my Sabbaths, H226 to be a sign H3045 between me and them, that they might know H3068 that I am Yahweh H6942 who sanctifies them.

13 H1004 But the house H3478 of Israel H4784 rebelled H4057 against me in the wilderness: H1980 they didn't walk H2708 in my statutes, H3988 and they rejected H4941 my ordinances, H120 which if a man H6213 keep, H2425 he shall live H7676 in them; and my Sabbaths H3966 they greatly H2490 profaned. H559 Then I said H8210 I would pour out H2534 my wrath H4057 on them in the wilderness, H3615 to consume them.

14 H6213 But I worked H8034 for my name's H2490 sake, that it should not be profaned H5869 in the sight H1471 of the nations, H5869 in whose sight H3318 I brought them out.

15 H3027 Moreover also I swore H5375 to H4057 them in the wilderness, H935 that I would not bring H776 them into the land H5414 which I had given H2100 them, flowing H2461 with milk H1706 and honey, H6643 which is the glory H776 of all lands;

16 H3988 because they rejected H4941 my ordinances, H1980 and didn't walk H2708 in my statutes, H2490 and profaned H7676 my Sabbaths: H3820 for their heart H1980 went H310 after H1544 their idols.

17 H5869 Nevertheless my eye H2347 spared H7843 them, and I didn't destroy H6213 them, neither did I make H3617 a full end H4057 of them in the wilderness.

18 H559 I said H1121 to their children H4057 in the wilderness, H3212 Don't walk H2706 in the statutes H1 of your fathers, H8104 neither observe H4941 their ordinances, H2930 nor defile H1544 yourselves with their idols.

19 H3068 I am Yahweh H430 your God: H3212 walk H2708 in my statutes, H8104 and keep H4941 my ordinances, H6213 and do them;

20 H7676 and make my Sabbaths H6942 holy; H226 and they shall be a sign H3045 between me and you, that you may know H3068 that I am Yahweh H430 your God.

21 H1121 But the children H4784 rebelled H1980 against me; they didn't walk H2708 in my statutes, H8104 neither kept H4941 my ordinances H6213 to do H120 them, which if a man H6213 do, H2425 he shall live H2490 in them; they profaned H7676 my Sabbaths. H559 Then I said H8210 I would pour out H2534 my wrath H3615 on them, to accomplish H639 my anger H4057 against them in the wilderness.

22 H7725 Nevertheless I withdrew H3027 my hand, H6213 and worked H8034 for my name's H2490 sake, that it should not be profaned H5869 in the sight H1471 of the nations, H5869 in whose sight H3318 I brought them forth.

23 H3027 Moreover I swore H5375 to H4057 them in the wilderness, H6327 that I would scatter H1471 them among the nations, H2219 and disperse H776 them through the countries;

24 H6213 because they had not executed H4941 my ordinances, H3988 but had rejected H2708 my statutes, H2490 and had profaned H7676 my Sabbaths, H5869 and their eyes H310 were after H1 their fathers' H1544 idols.

25 H5414 Moreover also I gave H2706 them statutes H2896 that were not good, H4941 and ordinances H2421 in which they should not live;

26 H2930 and I polluted H4979 them in their own gifts, H5674 in that they caused to pass through H6363 the fire all that opens H7356 the womb, H8074 that I might make them desolate, H3045 to the end that they might know H3068 that I am Yahweh.

27 H1121 Therefore, son H120 of man, H1696 speak H1004 to the house H3478 of Israel, H559 and tell H559 them, Thus says H136 the Lord H3069 Yahweh: H1 In this moreover have your fathers H1442 blasphemed H4603 me, in that they have committed H4604 a trespass against me.

28 H935 For when I had brought H776 them into the land, H3027 which I swore H5375 to H5414 give H7200 to them, then they saw H7311 every high H1389 hill, H5687 and every thick H6086 tree, H2076 and they offered H2077 there their sacrifices, H5414 and there they presented H3708 the provocation H2076 of their offering; H7760 there also they made H5207 their pleasant H7381 aroma, H5258 and they poured out H5262 there their drink offerings.

29 H559 Then I said H1116 to them, What does the high place H935 where you go H8034 mean? So its name H7121 is called H1117 Bamah H3117 to this day.

30 H559 Therefore tell H1004 the house H3478 of Israel, H559 Thus says H136 the Lord H136 Yahweh: H2930 Do you pollute H1870 yourselves in the way H1 of your fathers? H2181 and do you play the prostitute H310 after H8251 their abominations?

31 H5375 and when you offer H4979 your gifts, H1121 when you make your sons H5674 to pass through H784 the fire, H2930 do you pollute H1544 yourselves with all your idols H3117 to this day? H1875 and shall I be inquired H1004 of by you, house H3478 of Israel? H2416 As I live, H5002 says H136 the Lord H3069 Yahweh, H1875 I will not be inquired of by you;

32 H5927 and that which comes H7307 into your mind H559 shall not be at all, in that you say, H1961 We will be H1471 as the nations, H4940 as the families H776 of the countries, H8334 to serve H6086 wood H68 and stone.

33 H2416 As I live, H5002 says H136 the Lord H3069 Yahweh, H2389 surely with a mighty H3027 hand, H5186 and with an outstretched H2220 arm, H2534 and with wrath H5186 poured out, H4427 will I be king over you:

34 H3318 and I will bring you out H5971 from the peoples, H6908 and will gather H776 you out of the countries H6327 in which you are scattered, H2389 with a mighty H3027 hand, H5186 and with an outstretched H2220 arm, H2534 and with wrath H8210 poured out;

35 H935 and I will bring H4057 you into the wilderness H5971 of the peoples, H8199 and there will I enter into judgment H6440 with you face H6440 to face.

36 H8199 Like as I entered into judgment H1 with your fathers H4057 in the wilderness H776 of the land H4714 of Egypt, H8199 so will I enter into judgment H5002 with you, says H136 the Lord H3069 Yahweh.

37 H5674 I will cause you to pass H7626 under the rod, H935 and I will bring H4562 you into the bond H1285 of the covenant;

38 H1305 and I will purge out H4775 from among you the rebels, H6586 and those who disobey H3318 against me; I will bring them forth H776 out of the land H4033 where they live, H935 but they shall not enter H127 into the land H3478 of Israel: H3045 and you shall know H3068 that I am Yahweh.

39 H1004 As for you, house H3478 of Israel, H559 thus says H136 the Lord H3069 Yahweh: H3212 Go, H5647 serve H376 everyone H1544 his idols, H310 and hereafter H8085 also, if you will not listen H6944 to me; but my holy H8034 name H2490 you shall no more profane H4979 with your gifts, H1544 and with your idols.

40 H6944 For in my holy H2022 mountain, H2022 in the mountain H4791 of the height H3478 of Israel, H5002 says H136 the Lord H3069 Yahweh, H1004 there shall all the house H3478 of Israel, H5647 all of them, serve H776 me in the land: H7521 there will I accept H1875 them, and there will I require H8641 your offerings, H7225 and the first fruits H4864 of your offerings, H6944 with all your holy things.

41 H5207 As a pleasant H7381 aroma H7521 will I accept H3318 you, when I bring you out H5971 from the peoples, H6908 and gather H3318 you out H776 of the countries H6327 in which you have been scattered; H6942 and I will be sanctified H1471 in you in the sight of the nations.

42 H3045 You shall know H3068 that I am Yahweh, H935 when I shall bring H127 you into the land H3478 of Israel, H776 into the country H3027 which I swore H5375 to H5414 give H1 to your fathers.

43 H2142 There you shall remember H1870 your ways, H5949 and all your doings, H2930 in which you have polluted H6962 yourselves; and you shall loathe H6440 yourselves in your own sight H7451 for all your evils H6213 that you have committed.

44 H3045 You shall know H3068 that I am Yahweh, H6213 when I have dealt H8034 with you for my name's H7451 sake, not according to your evil H1870 ways, H7843 nor according to your corrupt H5949 doings, H1004 you house H3478 of Israel, H5002 says H136 the Lord H3069 Yahweh.

45 H1697 The word H3068 of Yahweh H559 came to me, saying,

46 H1121 Son H120 of man, H7760 set H6440 your face H1870 toward H8486 the south, H5197 and drop H1864 your word toward the south, H5012 and prophesy H3293 against the forest H7704 of the field H5045 in the South;

47 H559 and tell H3293 the forest H5045 of the South, H8085 Hear H1697 the word H3068 of Yahweh: H559 Thus says H136 the Lord H3068 Yahweh, H3341 Behold, I will kindle H784 a fire H398 in you, and it shall devour H3892 every green H6086 tree H3002 in you, and every dry H6086 tree: H3852 the flaming H7957 flame H3518 shall not be quenched, H6440 and all faces H5045 from the south H6828 to the north H6866 shall be burnt thereby.

48 H1320 All flesh H7200 shall see H3068 that I, Yahweh, H1197 have kindled H3518 it; it shall not be quenched.

49 H559 Then I said, H162 Ah H136 Lord H136 Yahweh! H559 they say H4911 of me, Isn't he a speaker H4912 of parables?
