  1 G3779 Thus G3004 says G2962 the lord, G4169 Of what kind G3778 is this G975 scroll G3588 of the G647 certificate of divorce G3588   G3384 of your mother, G1473   G3739 by which G1821 I sent her away? G1473   G2228 or G5100 to which G5297.4 debtor G3588 of the ones G4238 exacting G1473 me G4097 have I sold G1473 you G1473 to him? G2400 Behold, G3588   G266 for your sins G1473   G4097 you were sold; G2532 and G3588   G458 for your lawless deeds G1473   G1821 I sent away G3588   G3384 your mother. G1473
  2 G5100 Why G3754 is it that G2064 I came, G2532 and G3756 there was no G1510.7.3   G444 man? G2564 I called G2532 and G3756 there was none G1510.7.3   G3588   G5219 hearkening. G3378 Is not G2480 [2strong G3588   G5495 1my hand] G1473   G3588   G4506 to rescue? G2228 or G3756 am I not G2480 able G3588   G1807 to rescue? G2400 Behold, G3588   G1648.1 by my rebuke G1473   G1830.2 I shall make quite desolate G3588 the G2281 sea, G2532 and G5087 I shall make G4215 rivers G2048 desolate places; G2532 and G3583 [2shall be dried up G3588   G2486 1their fishes] G1473   G575 from G3588   G3361 there not being G1510.1   G5204 water; G2532 and G599 they shall die G1722 for G1373 thirst.
  3 G1746 I shall clothe G3588 the G3772 heaven G4655 with darkness, G2532 and G5613 [3as G4526 4sackcloth G5087 1I shall make G3588   G4018 2its wrap-around garment]. G1473
  4 G2962 The Lord, G2962 the lord G1325 gives G1473 to me G1100 a tongue G3809 of instruction G3588   G1097 to know G2259 when G1163 it is necessary G2036 to speak G3056 a word. G5087 He stood G1473 me G4404 morning G4404 by morning. G4369 He added G1473 an ear for me G5621   G191 to hear.
  5 G2532 And G3588 the G3809 instruction G2962 of the lord G455 opens G1473 my G3588   G3775 ears, G1473 and I G1161   G3756 do not G544 resist persuasion, G3761 nor G483 do I dispute.
  6 G3588   G3577 My back G1473   G1325 I have given G1519 to G3148 whips, G3588   G1161 and G4600 my jaws G1473   G1519 for G4475 slaps, G3588   G1161 and G4383 my face G1473   G3756 I did not G654 turn G575 from G152 the shame G1715.2 of ones spitting.
  7 G2532 And G2962 the Lord, G2962 the lord G998 [2a helper to me G1473   G1096 1was]. G1223 On account of G3778 this G3756 I was not G1788 ashamed, G235 but G5087 I set G3588   G4383 my face G1473   G5613 as G4731 a solid G4073 rock; G2532 and G1097 I knew G3754 that G3766.2 in no way G153 should I be ashamed.
  8 G3754 For G1448 [4approaches G3588 1the one G1344 2justifying G1473 3me]. G5100 Who is G3588 the G2919 one judging G1473 me? G436 Let him oppose G1473 me G260 at the same time! G2532 Yes, G5100 who is G3588 the one G2919 judging G1473 me? G1448 Let him approach G1473 to me!
  9 G2400 Behold, G2962 the lord G997 shall help G1473 me. G5100 Who G2559 shall inflict evil G1473 on me? G2400 Behold, G3956 [2all G1473 1you G5613 4as G2440 5a cloak G3822 3shall become old], G2532 and G5613 as G4597 a moth G2719 you shall be devoured. G1473
  10 G5100 Who G1722 among G1473 you G3588 is the one G5399 fearing G3588 the G2962 lord ? G5219 let him obey G3588 the G5456 voice G3588   G3816 of his servant! G1473   G3588 Let the ones G4198 going G1722 in G4655 darkness, G2532 and G3756 there is no G1510.2.3   G1473 light for them, G5457   G3982 yield G1909 upon G3588 the G3686 name G2962 of the lord, G2532 and G496.6 support yourselves G1909 upon G3588   G2316 God!
  11 G2400 Behold, G3956 you all G1473   G4442 [2a fire G2545 1kindle], G2532 and G2729 you strengthen G5395 the flame; G4198 you go G3588 to the G5457 light G3588   G4442 of your fire, G1473   G2532 and G3588 the G5395 flame G3739 which G1572 you kindled. G1223 On account of G1473 me G1096 [2came to pass G3778 1these things] G1473 to you; G1722 [2in G3077 3distress G2837 1you shall remain the night].

1 H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD, H5612 Where is the bill H517 of your mother's H3748 divorcement, H7971 [H8765] whom I have put away? H5383 [H8802] or whom of my creditors H4376 [H8804] is it to whom I have sold H5771 you? Behold, for your perversities H4376 [H8738] have ye sold H6588 yourselves, and for your revolts H517 is your mother H7971 [H8795] put away.
  2 H935 [H8804] Why, when I came, H376 was there no man? H7121 [H8804] when I called, H6030 [H8802] was there none to answer? H3027 Is my hand H7114 [H8804] shortened H7114 [H8800] at all, H6304 that it cannot redeem? H3581 or have I no power H5337 [H8687] to deliver? H1606 behold, at my rebuke H2717 [H8686] I dry up H3220 the sea, H7760 [H8799] I make H5104 the rivers H4057 a wilderness: H1710 their fish H887 [H8799] stinketh, H4325 because there is no water, H4191 [H8799] and dieth H6772 for thirst.

Let vs stode one agaynst another: yf there be eny that wil reason with me, let him come here forth to me. 9 Beholde, the LORDE God stondeth by me, what is he that can condempne me? lo, they shalbe all like as an olde cloth, which ye mothes shal eate vp. 10 Therfore who so feareth the LORDE amoge you, let him heare the voyce of his seruaut. MSTC(i) 1 Thus sayeth the LORD: Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, that I sent unto her? Or who is the usurer, to whom I sold you? Behold, for your own offenses are ye sold: and because of your transgression, is your mother forsaken. 2 For why would no man receive me, when I came? And when I called, no man gave me answer. Was my hand clean smitten off, that it might not help? Or had I not power to deliver? Lo, at a word I drink up the sea, and of water floods I make dry land: so that for want of water, the fish corrupt and die of thirst. 3 As for heaven, I clothe it with darkness, and put as it were a sack upon it. 4 The LORD God hath given me a well learned tongue, so that I can comfort them which are troubled; yea, and that in due season. He waked mine ear up betimes in the morning, as schoolmasters do; that I might hark. 5 The LORD God hath opened mine ear; therefore can I not say nay, nor withdraw myself. 6 But I offer my back unto the smiters, and my cheeks to the nippers. I turn not my face from shame and spitting, 7 for the LORD God helpeth me. Therefore shall I not be confounded. I have hardened my face like a flint stone, for I am sure, that I shall not come to confusion. 8 Mine advocate speaketh for me, who will then go with me to law? Let us stand one against another: if there be any that will reason with me, let him come here forth to me. 9 Behold, the LORD God standeth by me: what is he that can condemn me? Lo, they shall be all like as an old cloth, which the moths shall eat up. 10 Therefore, whoso feareth the LORD among you, let him hear the voice of his servant. Who so walketh in darkness, and no light shineth upon him, let him trust in the LORD and hold him by his God. 11 But take heed, ye have all kindled a fire, and girded yourselves with the flame. Ye walk in the glistering of your own fire, and in the flame that ye have kindled. This cometh unto you from my hand, namely that ye shall sleep in sorrow.

Beholde, for your iniquities are yee solde, and because of your transgressions is your mother forsaken. 2 Wherefore came I, and there was no man? Beholde, at my rebuke I drie vp the Sea: I make the floods desert: their fish rotteth for want of water, and dieth for thirst. 3 I clothe the heauens with darkenesse, and make a sacke their couering. 4 The Lord God hath giuen me a tongue of the learned, that I shoulde knowe to minister a woord in time to him that is weary: he will raise me vp in the morning: in the morning hee will waken mine eare to heare, as the learned. 5 The Lord God hath opened mine eare and I was not rebellious, neither turned I backe. 6 I gaue my backe vnto the smiters, and my cheekes to the nippers: I hidde not my face from shame and spitting. 7 For the Lord God will helpe me, therefore shall I not bee confounded: therefore haue I set my face like a flint, and I knowe that I shall not be ashamed. 8 Hee is neere that iustifieth mee: who will contend with me? Let vs stande together: who is mine aduersarie? let him come neere to me. 9 Beholde, the Lord God will helpe me: who is he that can condemne me? loe, they shall waxe olde as a garment: the mothe shall eate them vp. 10 Who is among you that feareth the Lord? let him heare the voyce of his seruant: hee that walketh in darkenesse, and hath no light, let him trust in the Name of the Lord, and staye vpon his God. 11 Beholde, all you kindle a fire, and are compassed about with sparkes: walke in the light of your fire, and in the sparkes that ye haue kindled. This shall ye haue of mine hand: ye shall lye downe in sorowe.

Behold at my rebuke I will make the sea a desert, I will turn the rivers into dry land: the fishes shall rot for want of water, and shall die for thirst. 3 I will clothe the heavens with darkness, and will make sackcloth their covering. 4 The Lord hath given me a learned tongue, that I should know how to uphold by word him that is weary: he wakeneth in the morning, in the morning he wakeneth my ear, that I may hear him as a master. 5 The Lord God hath opened my ear, and I do not resist: I have not gone back. 6 I have given my body to the strikers, and my cheeks to them that plucked them: I have not turned away my face from them that rebuked me, and spit upon me. 7 The Lord God is my helper, therefore am I not confounded: therefore have I set my face as a most hard rock, and I know that I shall not be confounded. 8 He is near that justifieth me, who will contend with me? let us stand together, who is my adversary? let him come near to me. 9 Behold the Lord God is my helper: who is he that shall condemn me? Lo, they shall all be destroyed as a garment, the moth shall eat them up. 10 Who is there among you that feareth the Lord, that heareth the voice of his servant, that hath walked in darkness, and hath no light? let him hope in the name of the Lord, and lean upon his God. 11 Behold all you that kindle a fire, encompassed with flames, walk in the light of your fire, and in the flames which you have kindled: this is done to you by my hand, you shall sleep in sorrows.

Thomson(i) 1 Thus saith the Lord, Of what sort was the bill of your mother's divorce with which I divorced her? Or to what creditor have I sold you? I can clothe the heaven with darkness, and make its covering like sackcloth. 4 The Lord Lord giveth me an instructed tongue, to know when it is proper to speak a word. He gave it me in the morning; he gave me in addition an ear to hear. 5 And the instruction of the Lord, Lord openeth mine ears and I am not rebellious, nor do I gainsay. 6 My back I have given to scourges, and my cheeks to be slapped with an open hand, and I turned not my face from the shame of spittles. 7 Indeed the Lord Lord was my helper; therefore I was not ashamed, but kept my countenance firm as a rock. I knew indeed that I should not be confounded, 8 because he who justified me is near at hand. Who is he that contendeth with me? Let him stand up with me face to face. Yes, let my accuser, whoever he be, come near me. 9 Behold the Lord, Lord will be my advocate; who can do {[a] An objection stated. [b] The answer.} me any evil? Behold you shall all wax old like a mantle, and the moth shall consume you. 10 Who is there among you who feareth the Lord, let him hearken to the voice of his servant. Ye who walk in darkness and have no light, trust in the name of the Lord and stay your selves on God. 11 Behold you are all kindling a fire and increasing the flame; walk in the light of your fire and by the flame which you have kindled. On my account these things have befallen you. You shall lie down in sorrow.

Leeser(i) 1 Thus hath said the Lord, Where is your mother’s bill of divorcement, wherewith I have sent her away? or who of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? behold, for your iniquities were ye sold, and for your transgressions was your mother sent away. 2 Why did I come and no man was there, did I call, with none to answer? hath my hand become too short for redeeming? or is there no power in me to deliver? behold, through my threatening I can dry up the sea, I can change the rivers into a wilderness: their fish stink for want of water, and die for thirst. 3 I can clothe the heavens with blackness, and I can make sackcloth their garment. 4 The Lord Eternal hath given me a tongue for teaching, that I should know how to strengthen the weary with the word: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth my ear to listen like those who are well taught. 5 The Lord Eternal hath opened me my ear, and I resisted not: I turned not backward. 6 My back I gave up to the smiters, and my cheeks to those that plucked off the hair: my face I hid not from abuse and spitting. 7 But the Lord Eternal ever helpeth me; therefore was I not confounded; therefore have I rendered my face like a flint, and I knew that I should not be made ashamed. 8 He that justifieth me is near; who will contend with me? let us stand forward together: who hath a dispute with me? let him come near to me. 9 Behold, the Lord Eternal will help me; who is the man that will condemn me? lo, they all shall wear out as a garment: the moth shall eat them up. 10 Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that hearkeneth to the voice of his servant? though he have walked in darkness, and had no light: let him trust in the name of the Lord, and lean for support upon his God. 11 Behold, all ye that kindle fire, that urge on the brands: walk by the blaze of your fire, and by the brands ye have kindled; from my hand hath this been bestowed on you; in pain shall ye lie down.
YLT(i) 1 Thus said Jehovah: `Where is this—the bill of your mother's divorce, Whom I sent away? Or to which of My creditors have I sold you? Lo, for your iniquities ye have been sold, And for your transgressions Hath your mother been sent away. 2 Wherefore have I come, and there is no one? I called, and there is none answering, Hath My hand been at all short of redemption? And is there not in me power to deliver? Lo, by My rebuke I dry up a sea, I make rivers a wilderness, Their fish stinketh, for there is no water, And dieth with thirst. 3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, And sackcloth I make their covering.
4 The Lord Jehovah hath given to me The tongue of taught ones, To know to aid the weary by a word, He waketh morning by morning, He waketh for me an ear to hear as taught ones. 5 The Lord Jehovah opened for me the ear, And I rebelled not—backward I moved not. 6 My back I have given to those smiting, And my cheeks to those plucking out, My face I hid not from shame and spitting. 7 And the Lord Jehovah giveth help to me, Therefore I have not been ashamed, Therefore I have set my face as a flint, And I know that I am not ashamed. 8 Near is He who is justifying me, Who doth contend with me? We stand together, who is mine opponent? Let him come nigh unto me. 9 Lo, the Lord Jehovah giveth help to me, Who is he that declareth me wicked? Lo, all of them as a garment wear out, A moth doth eat them.
10 Who is among you, fearing Jehovah, Hearkening to the voice of His servant, That hath walked in dark places, And there is no brightness for him? Let him trust in the name of Jehovah, And lean upon his God. 11 Lo, all ye kindling a fire, girding on sparks, Walk ye in the light of your fire, And in the sparks ye have caused to burn, From my hand hath this been to you, In grief ye lie down!

Being short, was my hand shortened from redeeming? and if not power in me to deliver behold, in my rebuke I will dry up the sea; I will set the rivers a desert: their fish shall stink from no water, and they shall die with thirst 3 I will put darkness upon the heavens, and I will put sackcloth their covering. 4 The Lord Jehovah gave to me the tongue of the expert to know to help the weary with a word: he will rouse up in the morning by morning, he will rouse up to me the ear to hear as the expert 5 The Lord Jehovah opened to me the ear and I opposed not, and I drew not back. 6 My back I gave to those smiting, and my cheeks to those tearing out the hair: and my face I hid not from shame and spittle. 7 And the Lord Jehovah will help to me: for this I was not ashamed; for this I set my face as the flint, and I shall know that I shall not be ashamed. 8 He drawing near justifying me: who shall contend with me? we will stand together: who the lord of my judgment? he shall draw near to me. 9 Behold, the Lord Jehovah will help for me; who is he that shall condemn me? behold, they all shall decay as a garment; the moth shall eat them. 10 Who among you fearing Jehovah, hearing to the voice of his servant? who goes in darkness and no light to him? he shall trust in the name of Jehovah and rest upon his God. 11 Behold, all ye kindling a fire, girding yourselves with fiery darts: go ye in the light of your fire, and in the fiery darts ye kindled. From my hand was this to you; ye shall lie down for sorrow.

Rotherham(i) 1 Thus, saith Yahweh––Where then is the scroll of your mother’s divorce, whom I have put away? Or, which of my creditors, is it, to whom I have sold you? Lo! for your iniquities, have ye been sold, And, for your transgressions, hath your mother been put away. 2 Wherefore, When I came in, was there no, one? When I called, was there none, to answer? Is mine own hand, really shortened, that it cannot redeem? Or is there not, in me, strength, to deliver? Lo! by my rebuke, I dry up the sea, I make rivers a desert, Their fish, Stinketh, for want of water, Yea dieth, for thirst: 3 I clothe the heavens with gloom, And, of sackcloth, make I their covering.
4 My Lord Yahweh, hath given unto me the tongue of the instructed, That I should know how to succour the fainting, with discourse,––He kept wakening––morning by morning, He kept wakening mine ear, to hearken, as do the instructed; 5 My Lord, Yahweh, opened mine ear, And, I, was not rebellious,––Away, turned I not: 6 My back, gave I to smiters, and, My cheeks, to them who pulled out the beard,––My face, hid I not, from insult and spitting. 7 Because, My Lord, Yahweh, would help me, Therefore, was I not deterred by insult,––Therefore, did I set my face, like flint, And I knew, that I should not be put to shame. 8 At hand, is one who can justify me. Who, will contend with me? let, us stand forth together,––Who, can accuse me? let him draw near to me! 9 Lo! My Lord, Yahweh, will help me, Who, is he, that shall prove me lawless? Lo! they all, as a garment, shall fall to pieces, The moth, shall consume them.
10 Who, among you, revereth Yahweh, Hearkening unto the voice of his Servant,––That hath walked in dark places, And hath had no gleam of light? Let him trust in the name of Yahweh, And lean upon his God. 11 Lo! all ye that kindle a fire, That gird yourselves with fiery darts,––Walk ye in the blaze of your own fire, And in the fiery darts ye have kindled, At my hand, hath this befallen you, In sorrow, shall ye lie down.
CLV(i) 1 Thus says Yahweh, "Where is this scroll of divorce of your mother, with which I let her go? Or which of My creditors is it to whom I sold you? Behold! For your depravities were you sold, and for your transgressions was your mother sent away." 2 For what reason, when I came, was there no man? I called, and there was no answer? Is My hand too short to ransom? Or should no vigor be in Me to rescue? Behold! By My rebuke will I drain the sea; I will convert streams into a wilderness. Their fish will dry up, because there is no water, and they will die from thirst." 3 I will clothe the heavens with somberness, and I will make sackcloth their covering." 4 My Lord Yahweh gives me the tongue of the taught, to know in season to counsel with a word. And He is rousing morning by morning, and He is rousing my ear to hear as the taught." 5 My Lord Yahweh Elohim opens my ear, and I do not rebel. Thereafter I am not turned away." 6 My body I give to smiters, and my cheeks to burnishers. My face I do not conceal from confoundings and spitting." 7 And my Lord Yahweh is helping me. Therefore, I am not confounded. Therefore I set my face as a flint, and know that I shall not be shamed." 8 Near is my Justifier. Who will contend with me? We will stand together. Who possesses my judgment? He shall come close to me. 9 Behold! My Lord Yahweh will help me. Who is he who will condemn me? Behold! All of them, as a garment, will decay. The moth shall devour them." 10 Who among you fears Yahweh, hearing the voice of His servant? Who goes in darkness, and there is no brightness for him? Is he trusting in the name of Yahweh, and leaning on his Elohim? 11 Behold! All of you are kindlers of fire, lighters of flambeaux. Walk in the light of your fire, and of the flambeaux you consume. From My hand this comes to you:For grief shall you lie down."
BBE(i) 1 This is the word of the Lord: Where is the statement which I gave your mother when I put her away? or to which of my creditors have I given you for money? It was for your sins that you were given into the hands of others, and for your evil-doing was your mother put away. 2 Why, then, when I came, was there no man? and no one to give answer to my voice? has my hand become feeble, so that it is unable to take up your cause? or have I no power to make you free? See, at my word the sea becomes dry, I make the rivers a waste land: their fish are dead for need of water, and make an evil smell. 3 By me the heavens are clothed with black, and I make haircloth their robe. 4 The Lord God has given me the tongue of those who are experienced, so that I may be able to give the word a special sense for the feeble: every morning my ear is open to his teaching, like those who are experienced: 5 And I have not put myself against him, or let my heart be turned back from him. 6 I was offering my back to those who gave me blows, and my face to those who were pulling out my hair: I did not keep my face covered from marks of shame. 7 For the Lord God is my helper; I will not be put to shame: so I have made my face like a rock, and I am certain that he will give me my right. 8 He who takes up my cause is near; who will go to law with me? let us come together before the judge: who is against me? let him come near to me. 9 See, the Lord God is my helper; who will give a decision against me? truly, all of them will become old like a robe; they will be food for the worm. 10 Who among you has the fear of the Lord, giving ear to the voice of his servant who has been walking in the dark and has no light? Let him put his faith in the name of the Lord, looking to his God for support. 11 See, all you who make a fire, arming yourselves with burning branches: go in the flame of your fire, and among the branches you have put a light to. This will you have from my hand, you will make your bed in sorrow.

THE SIN OF YISRA EL
Thus says Yah Veh, Where is the scroll of divorcement of your mother whom I sent away? Or to which of my exactors have I sold you? Behold, for your perversities you sold yourselves, and for your rebellions is your mother sent away. 2 Why, when I came, was there no man? I called, and no one answered? In shortening, is my hand shortened, that it cannot redeem? Or have I no force to rescue? Behold, at my rebuke I parch the sea; I set the rivers a wilderness: their fish stink because there is no water and they die for thirst: 3 I enrobe the heavens with darkness and I set saq their covering. 4
THE TONGUE OF THE DISCIPLED
Adonay Yah Veh gives me the tongue of the discipled, to know how to reinforce a word to the weary: he wakens morning by morning; he wakens my ear to hear as the discipled: 5 Adonay Yah Veh opens my ear, and I neither rebel nor apostatize backward. 6
A MESSIANIC PROPHECY
I give my back to the smiters and my cheeks to them who balden; I hide not my face from shame and spitting; 7 and Adonay Yah Veh helps me: so I confound not; so I set my face as a flint; and I know that I shame not. 8 He who justifies me is near; Who contends with me? We stand together: Who is the master of my judgment? Have him come near me. 9 Behold, Adonay Yah Veh helps me! Who declares me wicked? Behold, they all wear out as clothes; the moth eats them. 10 Who among you fears Yah Veh? Who hearkens to the voice of his servant? Who walks in darkness with no brilliance? Have him confide in the name of Yah Veh and lean on his Elohim. 11 Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who girt with sparks: walk in the flame of your fire and in the sparks you burn. This becomes you from my hand; you lie down in agony.

8 H7138 He is near H6663 who justifies H7378 me; who will bring charges H5975 against me? Let us stand H3162 up together: H1167 who is my adversary? H5066 Let him come near to me.
9 H136 Behold, the Lord H3069 Yahweh H5826 will help H7561 me; who is he who shall condemn H1086 me? Behold, all they shall wax old H899 as a garment, H6211 the moth H398 shall eat them up.
10 H3373 Who is among you who fears H3068 Yahweh, H8085 who obeys H6963 the voice H5650 of his servant? H1980 He who walks H2825 in darkness, H5051 and has no light, H982 let him trust H8034 in the name H3068 of Yahweh, H8172 and rely H430 on his God.
11 H6919 Behold, all you who kindle H784 a fire, H2131 who adorn yourselves with torches H247 around H3212 yourselves; walk H217 in the flame H784 of your fire, H2131 and among the brands H1197 that you have kindled. H3027 You shall have this of my hand; H7901 you shall lie down H4620 in sorrow.
NHEB(i) 1 Thus says the LORD, "Where is the bill of your mother's divorce, with which I have put her away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Look, for your iniquities were you sold, and for your transgressions was your mother put away. 2 Why, when I came, was there no man? When I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it can't redeem? or have I no power to deliver? Look, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stink, because there is no water, and die for thirst. 3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering." 4 The LORD has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary: he wakens morning by morning, he wakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. 5 The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away backward. 6 I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to those who tore out my beard; I did not cover my face from insults and spitting. 7 For the LORD will help me; therefore I have not been confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be disappointed. 8 He is near who justifies me; who will bring charges against me? Let us stand up together: who is my adversary? Let him come near to me. 9 Look, the LORD will help me; who is he who shall condemn me? Look, all they shall wax old as a garment, the moth shall eat them up. 10 Who is among you who fears the LORD, who listens to the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness, and has no light, let him trust in the name of the LORD, and rely on his God. 11 Look, all you who kindle a fire, who adorn yourselves with torches around yourselves; walk in the light of your fire, and among the torches that you have kindled. You shall have this of my hand; you shall lie down in sorrow.

EJ2000(i) 1 ¶ Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorce, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities ye are sold, and for your rebellions was your mother put away, 2 for I came, and no one showed himself; I called, and no one answered. CAB(i) 1 Thus says the Lord, Of what kind is your mother's bill of divorcement, by which I put her away? Or to which debtor have I sold you? Behold, you are sold for your sins, and for your iniquities have I put your mother away. 2 Why did I come, and there was no man? Why did I call, and there was none to hearken? Is not My hand strong to redeem? Or can I not deliver? Behold, by My rebuke I will dry up the sea, and make rivers a wilderness; and their fish shall be dried up because there is no water, and shall die of thirst. 3 I will clothe the sky with darkness, and will make its covering as sackcloth. 4 The Lord, even God, gives me the tongue of instruction, to know when it is fit to speak a word; He has appointed for me early, He has given me an ear to hear; 5 and the instruction of the Lord, even the Lord, opens my ears, and I do not disobey, nor dispute. 6 I gave my back to scourges, and my cheeks to blows; and I turned not away my face from the shame of spitting; 7 but the Lord God became my helper; therefore I was not ashamed, but I set my face as a solid rock; and I know that I shall never be ashamed, 8 for He that has justified me draws near. Who is he that pleads with me? Let him stand up against me at the same time; yea, who is he that pleads with me? Let him draw near to me. 9 Behold, the Lord, the Lord will help me; who will hurt me? Behold, all you shall grow as old as a garment, and a moth shall devour you. 10 Who is among you that fears the Lord? Let him hearken to the voice of His servant; you that walk in darkness, and have no light, trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon God. 11 Behold, you all kindle a fire, and feed a flame; walk in the light of your fire, and in the flame which you have kindled. This has happened to you for my sake; you shall lie down in sorrow.

NSB(i) 1 This is what Jehovah says: »Where are your mother's divorce papers? Did I give her any to get rid of her? To which of my creditors did I sell you? You were sold because of your sins. I got rid of your mother because of your rebellion. 2 »Why was no one here when I came? Why was no one here to answer when I called? Am I too weak to reclaim you? Do I not have the power to rescue you? I dry up the sea with my command, and I turn rivers into deserts. Their fish stink because there is no water, and people die of thirst. 3 »I clothe the heavens in darkness and cover them with sackcloth.« 4 The Lord Jehovah will teach me what to say, so I will know how to encourage tired people. Morning after morning he will wake me to listen like a student. 5 The Lord Jehovah has opened my ears. I will not rebel, nor will I turn away from him. 6 I will offer my back to those who whip me. I will offer my cheeks to those who pluck hairs out of my beard. I will not turn my face away from those who humiliate me and spit on me. 7 The Lord Jehovah helps me. That is why I will not be ashamed. I have set my face like a flint (firm and resolute). I know that I will not be put to shame. 8 The one who pronounces me innocent is near. Who will bring a case against me? Let us confront each other! Who accuses me? Let him draw near to me! 9 The Lord Jehovah helps me. Who will find me guilty? They will all wear out like a garment and moths will eat them. 10 Who among you respects Jehovah and obeys his servant? Let those who walk in darkness and have no light trust the name of Jehovah and depend upon their God. 11 But all of you light fires and arm yourselves with flaming torches. So walk in your own light and among the torches you have lit. This is what you will receive from me: You will be tormented.
ISV(i) 1 A Call to Return to God This is what the LORD says: “Where is your mother’s certificate of divorce with which I sent her away? Or to which of my creditors did I sell you? Look! It’s because of your sins that you were sold, and because of your transgressions that your mother was sent away. 2 Why is it that when I came, no one was there? Why was there no answer when I called? Was my arm too short to redeem you? Do I lack the strength to rescue you? Look! By my mere rebuke I dry up the sea, I turn rivers into a desert. Their fish stink for lack of water and die of thirst. 3 I clothe the skies with darkness and make sackcloth their covering.”
4 The Servant’s Obedience“The Lord GOD has given me a learned tongue, so that I may know how to sustain the weary with words. And morning after morning he wakens, and he wakens my ear to listen like those who are being taught. 5 My Lord GOD has opened my ears, and I did not rebel; I did not shrink back. 6 I gave my back to those who beat me and my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard. I did not turn away my face from insults and spitting. 7 For the Lord GOD helps me, so I won’t be disgraced. Therefore I’ve made my face like flint, and I know that I won’t be put to shame.”
8 The Servant’s VindicationThe one who vindicates me is near. Who, then, will bring a charge against me? Let’s face each other! Who has a case against me? Let him confront me! 9 See! It is the Lord GOD who will help me. Who is it that will declare me guilty? See! They will all wear out like a garment; moths will eat them up. 10 Who among you fears the LORD, obeying the voice of his servant, who among you walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD, and rely upon his God. 11 Look! All those who light a fire, who surround yourselves with flaming torches— walk by the light of your fire, and by the torches that you have set ablaze! This is what you will receive from my hand: you will lie down in torment.
LEB(i) 1 Thus says Yahweh:
"Where is this divorce document of your mother's divorce, with which I dismissed her? or to whom of my creditors did I sell you? Look! you were sold because of your sin, and your mother was dismissed because of your transgressions. 2 Why was there no man when I came, no one who answered when I called? Do I lack the strength to save?* Or is there no power in me to deliver? Look! by my rebuke I dry up the sea; I make* the rivers a desert; their fish stink because there is no water, and they* die because of thirst. 3 I clothe the heavens with darkness, and I make* their covering sackcloth." 4 The Lord Yahweh has given me the tongue of a pupil, to know how to help the weary with a word. He awakens morning by morning,* awakens an ear for me to listen as do the pupils. 5 The Lord Yahweh has opened an ear for me, and I, I was not rebellious. I did not turn backwards; 6 I gave my back to those who struck me, and my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard;* I did not hide my face from insults and spittle. 7 And the Lord Yahweh helps me,
therefore I have not been put to shame; therefore I have set my face like flint. And I know that I shall not be ashamed; 8 he who obtains rights for me is near. Who will contend with me? Let us stand together. Who is the master of my judgment? Let him approach me. 9 Look! The Lord Yahweh helps me. Who is the one who will declare me guilty? Look! All of them will be worn out like a garment; the moth will eat them. 10 Who among you is in fear of Yahweh, obeys* the voice of his servant? Who walks in darkness and has no light, trusts in the name of Yahweh and depends on his God? 11 Look! All of you are kindlers of fire, who gird yourselves with flaming arrows. Walk in the light of your fire, and among the flaming arrows you have kindled! You shall have this from my hand: you shall lie down in* a place of torment.
BSB(i) 1 This is what the LORD says: “Where is your mother’s certificate of divorce with which I sent her away? Or to which of My creditors did I sell you? Look, you were sold for your iniquities, and for your transgressions your mother was sent away. 2 Why was no one there when I arrived? Why did no one answer when I called? Is My hand too short to redeem you? Or do I lack the strength to deliver you? Behold, My rebuke dries up the sea; I turn the rivers into a desert; the fish rot for lack of water and die of thirst. 3 I clothe the heavens in black and make sackcloth their covering.” 4 The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of discipleship, to sustain the weary with a word. He awakens Me morning by morning; He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple. 5 The Lord GOD has opened My ears, and I have not been rebellious, nor have I turned back. 6 I offered My back to those who struck Me, and My cheeks to those who tore out My beard. I did not hide My face from scorn and spittle. 7 Because the Lord GOD helps Me, I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set My face like flint, and I know that I will not be put to shame. 8 The One who vindicates Me is near. Who will dare to contend with Me? Let us confront each other! Who has a case against Me? Let him approach Me! 9 Surely the Lord GOD helps Me. Who is there to condemn Me? See, they will all wear out like a garment; the moths will devour them. 10 Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the voice of His Servant? Who among you walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD; let him lean on his God. 11 Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who array yourselves with firebrands, walk in the light of your fire and of the firebrands you have lit! This is what you will receive from My hand: You will lie down in a place of torment.
MSB(i) 1 This is what the LORD says: “Where is your mother’s certificate of divorce with which I sent her away?
MLV(i) 1 Jehovah says thus, Where is the document of your* mother's divorcement, with which I have put her away? Or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you*? Behold, for your* iniquities you* were sold and for your* transgressions your* mother was put away.
2 Why, when I came, was there no man? When I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea. I make the rivers a wilderness. Their fish stink because there is no water and die for thirst. 3 I clothe the heavens with blackness and I make sackcloth their covering.
4 The lord Jehovah has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with words he who is weary. He awakens morning by morning. He awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. 5 The lord Jehovah has opened my ear and I was not rebellious, nor turned away backward. 6 I gave my back to the strikers and my cheeks to those who plucked off the hair. I did not hide my face from shame and spitting. 7 For the lord Jehovah will help me.
Therefore I have not been confounded. Therefore I have set my face like a flint and I know that I will not be put to shame. 8 He is near who justifies me. Who will contend with me? Let us stand up together. Who is my adversary? Let him come near to me. 9 Behold, the lord Jehovah will help me. Who is he who will condemn me? Behold, all they will grow old as a garment; the moth will eat them up.
10 Who is among you* that fears Jehovah, who obeys the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness and has no light, let him trust in the name of Jehovah and rely upon his God.
11 Behold, all you* who kindle a fire, who gird yourselves about with firebrands, walk you* in the flame of your* fire and among the brands that you* have kindled. This you* will have from my hand. You* will lie down in sorrow.

VIN(i) 1 Thus said the LORD, Where this writing of cutting off of your mother which I sent her away? or which of my creditors whom I sold you to him? Behold, in your iniquities ye sold yourselves, and in your transgressions your mother was sent away. 2 Wherefore, When I came in, was there no one? When I called, was there none to answer? Is mine own hand, really shortened, that it cannot redeem? Or is there not, in me, strength to deliver? Lo! by my rebuke, I dry up the sea I make rivers a desert, Their fish Stinketh, for want of water, Yea dieth, for thirst: 3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering." 4 The Sovereign LORD has given Me the tongue of the learned, to know to help the weary with a word. He wakens morning by morning, He wakens the ear to hear as the learned. 5 The Sovereign LORD has opened my ear. I was not rebellious. I have not turned back. 6 I gave my back to those who struck me, and my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from insults and spittle. 7 For the Sovereign LORD will help me. Therefore I have not been confounded. Therefore I have set my face like a flint and I know that I will not be put to shame. 8 He who justifies me is near. Who will bring charges against me? Let us stand up together. Who is my adversary? Let him come near to me. 9 Behold, the Sovereign LORD will help Me; who is he who shall condemn Me? Lo, they all shall wear out like a garment; the moth shall eat them. 10 Who among you fears the LORD, who obeys the voice of His servant, who walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD and rest on his God. 11 But all of you light fires and arm yourselves with flaming torches. So walk in your own light and among the torches you have lit. This is what you will receive from me: You will be tormented.

Comparaissons ensemble! Qui est mon adversaire? Qu'il s'avance vers moi! 9 Voici, le Seigneur, l'Eternel, me secourra: Qui me condamnera?

¿O quiénes son mis acreedores, a quien yo os he vendido?

Idite u plamenove ognja svojega i u žeravu koju raspiriste.
Kdož jest, ješto by mne potupil?

Finnish(i) 1 Näin sanoo Herra: kussa on äitinne erokirja, jolla minä olen hänen hyljännyt? eli kuka on minun korkorahani kantaja, jolle minä teidät olen myynyt? 9 Katso, Herra, Herra auttaa minua, kuka tahtoo minua kadottaa?
FinnishPR(i) 1 Näin sanoo Herra: Missä on teidän äitinne erokirja, jolla olisin lähettänyt hänet pois? Tai kuka on minun velkojani, jolle minä olisin teidät myynyt? Katso, pahojen tekojenne tähden te olette myydyt, teidän rikkomustenne tähden on äitinne lähetetty pois. Kuka on minun vastapuoleni? Tulkoon tänne lähelleni! 9 Katso, Herra, Herra auttaa minua; kuka minut syylliseksi tuomitsee? Katso, kaikki he hajoavat kuin vaate; koi heidät syö.
Mwen lonje figi m' bay moun k'ap rache bab mwen yo. Mwen pa kache figi m' lè y'ap joure m', lè y'ap krache sou mwen. 7 Seyè a, Bondye a, ap pote m' sekou. Tout moun k'ap akize m' yo pral disparèt. Y'ap tankou yon rad vèmen ap devore.
11 Ímé, ti mind, a kik tüzet gyujtotok, felövezvén magatokat tüzes nyilakkal, vettessetek tüzeteknek lángjába és a tüzes nyilakba, a melyeket meggyújtottatok! Kezembõl jõ ez rátok; fájdalomban fogtok feküdni!
Indonesian(i) 1 TUHAN berkata kepada Israel, "Hai umat-Ku, sangkamu Aku mengusir engkau seperti seorang suami mengusir istrinya? Kalau begitu, di mana surat cerainya? Sangkamu Aku menjual engkau, seperti seorang bapak menjual anaknya kepada penagih hutang? Bukan! Mari kita tampil bersama-sama. Siapakah yang melawan aku? Suruhlah ia mendekat padaku. 9 Sungguh, TUHAN Yang Mahatinggi membela aku, siapa berani menyatakan aku bersalah?

Lithuanian(i) 1 Taip sako Viešpats: “Kur yra jūsų motinos skyrybų raštas, kuriuo Aš ją atleidau? Kur yra skolintojas, kuriam už skolą jus atidaviau? Dėl savo nusikaltimų jūs pardavėte save, dėl jūsų neištikimybės jūsų motina atleista. 2 Kodėl atėjęs Aš neradau žmogaus? Aš šaukiau ir niekas neatsiliepė. Argi mano ranka sutrumpėjo gelbėti? Argi neturiu jėgos išlaisvinti? Savo sudraudimu išdžiovinu jūrą, upes paverčiu dykuma. Žuvys trokšta ir gaišta, nes nebėra vandens. 3 Aš aptemdau dangų, apsupu jį ašutine”. 4 Viešpats Dievas davė man miklų liežuvį paguosti nuvargusį.
Izali niemasz we mnie mocy ku wybawieniu?
Pentruce n'a răspuns nimeni cînd am strigat?
