¹⁹ laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the true life.

¹⁹ Lay not up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal. ²⁰ But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. ²¹ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

⁴¹ He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. ⁴² And whoever shall give to drink a cup of cold water only to one of these little ones, in the name of a disciple, verily I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.

²¹ Jesus said to him: If thou desirest to be perfect, go, sell what thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.

³⁴ Then will the King say to those on his right hand: Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. ³⁵ For I was hungry, and ye gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger and ye took me in, ³⁶ naked and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came to me. ³⁷ Then will the righteous answer him, saying: Lord, when saw we thee hungering and fed thee, or thirsting and gave thee drink? ³⁸ And when saw we thee a stranger and took thee in, or naked and clothed thee? ³⁹ And when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came to thee? ⁴⁰ And the King will answer and say to them: Verily I say to you, inasmuch as ye did it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye did it to me.

⁴⁸ He is like a man building a house, who digged deep, and laid a foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream burst upon that house, and could not shake it; because it was well builded. ⁴⁹ But he that hears, and does not, is like a man that built a house upon the earth without a foundation; on which the stream burst, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

³³ Sell what ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves purses that wax not old, a treasure unfailing in the heavens, where a thief approaches not, nor moth corrupts.

⁹ And I say to you: Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when it fails, they may receive you into the everlasting habitations.

²⁵ But Abraham said: Child, remember that in thy lifetime thou receivedst thy good things in full, and Lazarus in like manner his evil things; but now here, he is comforted and thou art tormented.

⁸ Because he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. ⁹ And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

¹⁷ that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; having been rooted and grounded in love,

¹⁴ I pursue on toward the mark, for the prize of the heavenly calling of God in Christ Jesus.

¹² Fight the good fight of the faith, lay hold on the eternal life, unto which thou wast called, and didst make the good profession before many witnesses.

¹⁹ Nevertheless, God's firm foundation stands, having this seal: The Lord knew those who are his; and, Let every one that names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.
