⁵ and ye have forgotten the exhortation, which discourses with you as with sons: My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, Nor faint when reproved by him;

⁹ Do ye not yet understand, nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? ¹⁰ Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

⁶ He is not here, but is risen. Remember how he spoke to you when he was yet in Galilee,

⁸ And they remembered his words.

³² But being judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

⁸ being pressed in every way, yet not straitened; perplexed, yet not despairing; ⁹ persecuted, yet not forsaken; cast down, yet not destroyed;

⁹ And he said to me: My grace is sufficient for thee; for my power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may abide upon me. ¹⁰ Wherefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then I am powerful.

³ For consider him who has endured such contradiction by sinners against him, that ye become not weary, fainting in your souls. ⁴ Not yet did ye resist unto blood, contending against sin;

⁷ If ye endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father chastens not?

¹² Happy is the man that endures temptation; because, when he is approved, he will receive the crown of life, which He promised to those who love him.

¹⁹ As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent.
