⁸ And the fourth poured out his cup upon the sun; and it was given to it to scorch men with fire.

⁶ And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had not root, they withered away.

²⁵ And there shall be signs in the sun, and moon, and stars; and on the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and waves;

²⁰ The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the great and notable day of the Lord shall come.

¹² And I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became all as blood;

¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun fall upon them, nor any heat;

¹² And the fourth angel sounded; and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars, that the third part of them might be darkened, and the day not shine for a third part of it, and the night in like manner.

² And he opened the pit of the abyss, and there went up a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

¹⁷ And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and those who sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of hyacinth, and like brimstone; and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions, and out of their mouths issue fire, and smoke, and brimstone. ¹⁸ By these three plagues was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and the smoke, and the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.

¹⁸ And another angel came out from the altar, who had power over fire; and he cried with a loud cry to him who had the sharp sickle, saying: Put forth thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
