¹ TO the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These things says he who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lamp-stands. ² I know thy works, and thy labor and patience, and how thou canst not bear evil men; and thou didst try those who say they are apostles, and are not, and didst find them liars; ³ and thou hast patience, and didst bear for my name's sake, and hast not been weary. ⁴ But I have this against thee, that thou hast left thy first love. ⁵ Remember therefore from whence thou hast fallen, and repent, and do the first works; but if not, I am coming to thee, and will remove thy lamp-stand out of its place, if thou repent not. ⁶ But this thou hast, that thou hatest the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. ⁷ He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. ²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

⁷ which is not another, except that there are some who trouble you, and wish to pervert the gospel of Christ.

¹⁴ that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, by cunning craftiness after the wily manner of error;

³ remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ, before God and our Father;

²¹ but prove all things, hold fast that which is good.

¹⁹ Nevertheless, God's firm foundation stands, having this seal: The Lord knew those who are his; and, Let every one that names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous to forget your work, and the love which ye showed toward his name, in that ye ministered and still do minister to the saints.

¹ BUT there were false prophets also among the people, as there will be false teachers among you also, who stealthily will bring in destructive factions, even denying as Master him who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. ² And many will follow their dissolute ways; by reason of whom the way of truth will be evil spoken of. ³ And in covetousness will they with feigned words make merchandise of you; for whom the judgment from of old lingers not, and their destruction slumbers not.

²¹ I wrote not to you because ye do not know the truth, but because ye know it, and because no lie is of the truth. ²² Who is the liar, but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, who denies the Father and the Son.

¹ BELOVED, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.

²¹ And they compel one Simon, a Cyrenian, who was passing by, coming from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.

¹⁵ But that in the good ground, these are they who, in an honest and good heart, having heard, hold fast the word, and bring forth fruit with patience.

²⁷ And whoever does not bear his cross, and come after me, can not be my disciple.

⁵ in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in watchings, in fastings;

¹⁵ not boasting of things without measure in other men's labors; but having hope, when your faith increases, that we shall be enlarged among you according to our line abundantly,

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as beside myself,) I am more; in labors more abundantly, in stripes above measure, in prisons more abundantly, in deaths often;

² Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

⁹ And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

¹⁶ holding forth the word of life; for a ground of glorying to me at the day of Christ, that I did not run in vain, or labor in vain.

³ Yea, I entreat thee also, true yoke-fellow, help these women, who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow-laborers, whose names are in the book of life.

¹³ But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

¹⁰ For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we have hoped in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.

¹⁷ Let elders who preside well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in the word and teaching.

¹² that ye may not become slothful, but followers of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

¹⁵ And so, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

³⁶ For ye have need of patience, that having done the will of God ye may receive the promise.

¹ THEREFORE, let us also, having so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding, us, lay aside every weight, and the easily besetting sin, and with patience run the race that is set before us,

³ For consider him who has endured such contradiction by sinners against him, that ye become not weary, fainting in your souls. ⁴ Not yet did ye resist unto blood, contending against sin; ⁵ and ye have forgotten the exhortation, which discourses with you as with sons: My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, Nor faint when reproved by him;

¹³ So then, let us go forth to him without the camp, bearing his reproach.

³ knowing that the proving of your faith works patience. ⁴ But let patience have a perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, lacking in nothing.

⁷ Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, till it shall have received the early and latter rain. ⁸ Be ye also patient; establish your hearts, because the coming of the Lord draws nigh. ⁹ Murmur not against one another, brethren, that ye be not judged. Behold, the judge stands before the door. ¹⁰ Take, my brethren, the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, for an example of affliction, and of patience. ¹¹ Behold, we count those happy who endure. Ye heard of the patience of Job, and saw the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

⁶ and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, patience; and to patience, godliness;

⁹ I, John, your brother, and partner with you in the affliction, and kingdom, and patient endurance in Jesus, was in the island called Patmos, on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

¹⁰ Because thou didst keep my word of patient endurance, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which is about to come upon the whole world, to try those who dwell upon the earth.

¹² And because iniquity abounds, the love of the many will become cold. ¹³ But he that has endured to the end, the same shall be saved.

⁹ And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more, in knowledge and all discernment;

⁴¹ They say to him: He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out the vineyard to other husbandmen, who will deliver over to him the fruits in their seasons. ⁴² Jesus says to them: Did ye never read in the Scriptures: The stone which the builders disallowed, The same is become the head of the corner; This is from the Lord, And is wonderful in our eyes. ⁴³ Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

⁴⁸ But if that evil servant shall say in his heart: My lord delays his coming; ⁴⁹ and shall begin to beat his fellow-servants, and shall eat and drink with the drunken; ⁵⁰ the lord of that servant will come in a day when he looks not for it, and in an hour when he is not aware; ⁵¹ and will cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. There will be the weeping, and the gnashing of teeth!

⁹ What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others.

¹⁷ And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a prepared people for the Lord.

⁴⁵ But if that servant say in his heart: My lord delays his coming; and shall begin to beat the men-servants and maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; ⁴⁶ the lord of that servant will come in a day when he looks not for it, and in an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the faithless.

¹⁶ He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others. And hearing it, they said: Far be it!

³⁰ The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked; but now, commands all men everywhere to repent. ³¹ Because he fixed a day, in which he will judge the world in righteousness, by the man whom he appointed, having given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.

⁴ Ye are separated from Christ, whoever of you are justified in the law; ye are fallen away from grace.

³² But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were enlightened, ye endured a great contest of sufferings;

¹² Wherefore, I will not neglect to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the truth that is with you. ¹³ But I think it right, so long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

²⁴ Now to him who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy;

¹⁹ As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent.

²⁰ And the rest of men, who were not killed in these plagues, repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of stone, and of wood, which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk; ²¹ and they repented not of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

⁹ And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, who has the power over these plagues, and repented not, to give him glory.

⁹ Every one who transgresses, and abides not in the teaching of Christ, has not God. He that abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. ¹⁰ If any one comes to you, and brings not this teaching, receive him not into your house, and do not bid him good speed;

¹⁵ He that has ears to hear, let him hear.

⁴³ Then will the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that has ears to hear, let him hear.

¹⁵ There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him; but the things that come out of him, these are they that defile the man.

⁴ that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

⁴ because all that is begotten of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith. ⁵ Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

¹⁸ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; Because he anointed me to publish good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to proclaim deliverance to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To send the oppressed away free,

²⁰ And he, lifting up his eyes on his disciples, said: Happy are ye poor; for yours is the kingdom of God.

²¹ So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

⁶⁵ And many other things they said, reviling him.

²² confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much affliction enter into the kingdom of God.

¹¹ And punishing them often, throughout all the synagogues, I constrained them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them also unto foreign cities.

¹⁷ But if thou art called a Jew, and restest upon law, and makest thy boast in God,

²⁸ For he is not a Jew, who is one outwardly; nor is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh. ²⁹ But he is a Jew, who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

³ And not only so, but we rejoice in afflictions also; knowing that affliction works patience;

³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

⁶ Not as though the word of God has failed. For not all they are Israel, who are of Israel;

¹⁰ as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and possessing all things.

² that in much trial of affliction was the abundance of their joy, and their deep poverty abounded to the riches of their liberality.

⁹ For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

⁴ For even when we were with you, we told you before that we are to suffer affliction; as also it came to pass, and ye know.

⁶ since it is a righteous thing with God to recompense affliction to those who afflict you, ⁷ and to you who are afflicted rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with the angels of his power,

¹³ who was formerly a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and overbearing. But I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly, in unbelief;

¹⁸ that they do good, be rich in good works, be free in imparting, willing to communicate;

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren. Did not God choose the poor as to this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to those who love him? ⁶ But ye dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you, and do not they drag you before the judgment-seats?

⁹ Behold, I make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews, and they are not, but do lie, behold, I will make them to come and bow down before thy feet, and to know that I loved thee.

¹⁷ Because thou sayest: I am rich, and have gotten wealth, and have need of nothing, and knowest not that thou art the wretched and the pitiable one, and poor, and blind, and naked; ¹⁸ I counsel thee to buy of me gold refined by fire, that thou mayest be rich, and white garments, that thou mayest be clothed, and the shame of thy nakedness not be made manifest, and to anoint thine eyes with eye-salve, that thou mayest see.

¹⁴ And I said to him: Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me: These are they who come out of the great affliction, and they washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

²² And ye will be hated by all, for my name's sake; but he that has endured to the end, the same shall be saved.

²⁸ And be not afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

¹³ But he that has endured to the end, the same shall be saved.

³⁵ For whoever will save his life shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his life, for the sake of me and of the glad tidings, shall save it.

¹³ And ye will be hated by all for my name's sake; but he that has endured unto the end, the same shall be saved.

⁴ And I say to you, my friends, be not afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. ⁵ But I will warn you whom ye shall fear; fear him, who after he has killed has power to cast into hell; yea, I say to you, fear him. ⁶ Are not five sparrows sold for two pence? And not one of them is forgotten before God. ⁷ But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; ye are of more value than many sparrows.

¹² And before all these, they will lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up into synagogues and prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

¹⁶ And ye will be delivered up both by parents, and brothers, and kindred, and friends; and some of you they will cause to be put to death. ¹⁷ And ye will be hated by all for my name's sake. ¹⁸ And there shall not a hair of your head perish. ¹⁹ In your patience possess your souls.

²⁵ He that loves his life shall lose it; and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

² And supper being served, the Devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

²⁷ And after the morsel, then entered Satan into him. Jesus therefore says to him: What thou doest, do quickly.

²⁴ But none of these things move me, neither do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the good news of the grace of God.

¹³ Then answered Paul: What mean ye, to weep and to break my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem, for the name of the Lord Jesus.

²⁵ And every one who contends for the prize is temperate in all things; they indeed to obtain a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.

² in which ye once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience;

¹² For to us, the contest is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly places.

⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; ⁸ henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me in that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing.

¹² Happy is the man that endures temptation; because, when he is approved, he will receive the crown of life, which He promised to those who love him.

⁶ Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a little time, if need be, made sorrowful by manifold trials; ⁷ that the proof of your faith, much more precious than gold that perishes, but is proved by fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

⁴ And when the chief Shepherd is manifested, ye shall receive the unfading crown of glory.

⁸ Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour;

¹⁰ Because thou didst keep my word of patient endurance, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which is about to come upon the whole world, to try those who dwell upon the earth. ¹¹ I come quickly; hold fast that which thou hast, that no one may take thy crown.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast down, the old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, who leads astray the whole world; he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.

² (and the beast which I saw was like to a leopard, and his feet as of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion, and the dragon gave to him his power, and his throne, and great authority;)

⁷ And it was given him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them; and power was given him over every tribe, and tongue, and nation.

¹⁵ And it was given him to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should also speak, and should cause that as many as worship not the image of the beast should be killed. ¹⁶ And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the bond, to receive a mark on their right hand, or on their forehead; ¹⁷ and that no one should be able to buy or sell, save he that has the mark, the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

⁷ He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him that overcomes, to him I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

⁶ Happy and holy is he that has part in the first resurrection; on these the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

¹⁴ And death and the underworld were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

⁸ But the fearful, and unbelieving, and defiled with abominations, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all the liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

¹² For the word of God is living, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

¹⁵ And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he may smite the nations; and he will rule them with a rod of iron; and he treads the wine-press of the fierceness of the wrath of God the Almighty.

²¹ And the rest were slain with the sword of him who sat upon the horse, which went forth out of his mouth; and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the other; for verily I say to you, ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man come.

⁹ Then will they deliver you up unto affliction, and will kill you; and ye will be hated by all nations for my name's sake.

¹⁷ And ye will be hated by all for my name's sake.

¹⁴ And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.

²⁰ and when the blood of thy witness Stephen was shed, then I myself was standing by, and consenting, and keeping the garments of those who slew him.

⁸ But if any one provides not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.

¹³ Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou heardest from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

¹² if we endure, we shall also reign with him; if we shall deny him, he also will deny us;

⁶ but Christ as son over His house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the boldness and the joyousness of the hope firm unto the end.

²³ let us hold fast the profession of the hope without wavering, for he is faithful who promised;

⁷ Do not they blaspheme the worthy name by which ye are called?

³ Beloved, while giving all diligence to write to you concerning the common salvation, I found it needful for me to write to you exhorting to contend earnestly for the faith, delivered once for all to the saints. ⁴ For there crept in stealthily certain men, who of old were appointed beforehand to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into wantonness, and denying the only Master, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹ I know thy affliction, and poverty (but thou art rich), and the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. ¹⁰ Fear not the things which thou art about to suffer. Behold, the Devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye will have affliction ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.

²⁴ But to you I say, the rest who are in Thyatira, as many as have not this teaching, who knew not the depths of Satan, as they speak: I put upon you no other burden; ²⁵ but that which ye have, hold fast till I come.

³ Remember therefore how thou hast received, and didst hear, and keep, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come as a thief, and thou shalt not know at what hour I will come upon thee.

⁸ I know thy works. Behold, I have set before thee a door opened, which no one can shut; because thou hast little power and didst keep my word, and didst not deny my name. ⁹ Behold, I make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews, and they are not, but do lie, behold, I will make them to come and bow down before thy feet, and to know that I loved thee.

¹¹ I come quickly; hold fast that which thou hast, that no one may take thy crown.

¹² Here is the patience of the saints, who keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

⁷ Woe to the world, for causes of offense! For it must needs be that causes of offense come; but woe to that man, through whom the cause of offense comes!

²⁰ but that we write to them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from what is strangled, and from blood. ²¹ For Moses of old time has in every city those who preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath.

²⁹ that ye abstain from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from what is strangled, and from fornication; from which if ye keep yourselves, ye will do well. Farewell.

²⁵ But concerning the Gentiles who have believed, we wrote to them, deciding that they should observe no such thing, except that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from what is strangled, and from fornication.

³² Wherefore? Because [they sought it] not by faith, but as being by works of law. For they stumbled against the stone of stumbling;

⁹ And David says: Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, And a stumbling-block, and a recompense to them;

¹³ Let us therefore no longer judge one another; but judge this rather, not to put a stumbling-block, or an occasion to fall, in a brother's way.

²¹ It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor anything whereby thy brother stumbles, or is made to offend, or is weak.

²³ but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling-block, and to Gentiles foolishness,

¹³ Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats; but God will destroy both it and them. But the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. ¹⁴ And God both raised the Lord, and will also raise up us by his power. ¹⁵ Know ye not that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them members of a harlot? Far be it! ¹⁶ Know ye not that he who is joined to a harlot is one body? For the two, says he, shall be one flesh. ¹⁷ But he that is joined to the Lord is one spirit. ¹⁸ Flee fornication. Every sin that a man commits is without the body; but he that commits fornication, sins against his own body.

² but because of fornication, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.

⁴ As concerning then the eating of the things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. ⁵ For though there are gods so-called, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are gods many, and lords many), ⁶ yet to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we unto him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. ⁷ But there is not in all men this knowledge; for some, with a consciousness till now of the idol, eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. ⁸ But food commends us not to God; for neither, if we eat, are we the better; nor, if we eat not, are we the worse. ⁹ But take heed, lest haply this liberty of yours become a stumbling-block to the weak. ¹⁰ For if any one sees thee, who hast knowledge, reclining at table in an idol's temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat the things offered to idols? ¹¹ And through thy knowledge he that is weak perishes, the brother for whom Christ died! ¹² But when ye so sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. ¹³ Wherefore, if food cause my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh for ever more, that I may not cause my brother to offend.

¹⁸ Behold Israel according to the flesh. Are not they who eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? ¹⁹ What then do I say? That an idol is anything, or that what is offered to idols is anything? ²⁰ Nay; but that what they sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God; and I would not that ye should be partakers of the demons. ²¹ Ye can not drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons; ye can not share in the table of the Lord, and the table of demons. ²² Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he? ²³ All things are lawful, but not all things are expedient; all things are lawful, but not all things edify. ²⁴ Let no one seek his own, but his neighbor's good. ²⁵ Whatever is sold in the market eat, asking no question for conscience sake'; ²⁶ for the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof. ²⁷ If any of the unbelieving bids you to a feast, and ye choose to go, whatever is set before you eat, asking no question for conscience' sake. ²⁸ But if any one say to you: This is a thing sacrificed to a god, eat it not, for his sake that showed it, and for conscience' sake. ²⁹ Conscience, I say, not thine own, but that of the other; for why is my liberty judged by another's conscience? ³⁰ If I partake with thanks, why am I evil spoken of, for that for which I give thanks? ³¹ Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

⁴ Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

⁸ and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense, who stumble, being disobedient to the word; to which they were also appointed.

¹⁵ forsaking the right way, they went astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness,

¹¹ Woe to them! For they went in the way of Cain, and rushed on in the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Korah.

⁴ But I have this against thee, that thou hast left thy first love.

¹⁵ without are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loves and makes a lie.

¹⁷ And receive the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

⁸ And then will the Lawless One be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will consume with the breath of his mouth, and will destroy with the manifestation of his coming;

⁵ Remember therefore from whence thou hast fallen, and repent, and do the first works; but if not, I am coming to thee, and will remove thy lamp-stand out of its place, if thou repent not.

⁷ Behold, I come quickly. Happy is he that keeps the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

¹¹ And he answering said to them: To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven; but to them it is not given.

³² But he said to them: I have food to eat that ye know not of.

⁴⁸ I am the bread of life. ⁴⁹ Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. ⁵⁰ This is the bread that comes down out of heaven, that one may eat thereof, and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread that came down out of heaven. If any one eat of this bread, he shall live forever; yea, and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. ⁵² The Jews therefore contended with one another, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat? ⁵³ Jesus therefore said to them: Verily, verily, I say to you, except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. ⁵⁴ He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁵⁵ For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. ⁵⁶ He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, abides in me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ As the living Father has sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he that eats me, he also shall live because of me. ⁵⁸ This is the bread that came down out of heaven. Not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead; he that eats of this bread shall live forever.

¹⁴ But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he can not know them, because they are spiritually judged.

³ For ye died, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

³ And they sing as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four animals and the elders; and no one was able to learn the song, except the hundred and forty-four thousand, who are redeemed from the earth.

¹² His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, which no one knows but he himself. ¹³ And he was clothed with a garment dipped in blood; and his name is called, The Word of God.

¹⁷ And lo, a voice out of heaven, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

³ And coming to him, the tempter said: If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread. ⁴ But he answering said: It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. ⁵ Then the Devil takes him into the holy city, and sets him on the pinnacle of the temple, ⁶ and says to him: If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down; for it is written: He will give his angels command concerning thee; And on their hands they will bear thee up, Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone.

⁵ While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. And behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

⁵⁴ And the centurion, and they that with him were watching Jesus, on seeing the earthquake, and the things that were done, were exceedingly afraid, saying: Truly this was the Son of God.

³⁵ And the angel answering said to her: The Holy Spirit will come upon thee, and the power of the Highest will overshadow thee; therefore also the Holy One that is born shall be called the Son of God.

¹⁴ And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us; and we beheld his glory, a glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered: Rabbi; thou art the Son of God, thou art the King of Israel.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whoever believes on him, should not perish, but may have everlasting life.

¹⁸ He that believes on him is not judged; but he that believes not has already been judged, because he has not believed on the name of the only-begotten Son of God.

³⁵ The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand. ³⁶ He that believes on the Son has everlasting life; and he that believes not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

²⁵ Verily, verily, I say to you, an hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear shall live.

³⁶ say ye of him, whom the Father sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest, because I said, I am the Son of God?

³⁶ And as they went along the way, they came to a certain water. And the eunuch said: See, here is water; what hinders that I should be immersed?

⁴ who was declared to be the Son of God with power according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord;

³² He who spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things?

¹⁴ But his head and his hairs were white, as white wool, as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; ¹⁵ and his feet were like to burnished brass, as if burning in a furnace; and his voice was as the sound of many waters.

² Every branch in me that bears not fruit, he takes it away; and every one that bears fruit, he cleanses it, that it may bear more fruit.

¹ THOUGH I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. ² And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing. ³ And though I bestow all my goods in food, and though I give up my body that I may be burned, and have not love, it profits me nothing. ⁴ Love suffers long, is kind; love envies not; love vaunts not itself, is not puffed up, ⁵ does not behave itself unseemly, seeks not its own, is not easily provoked, imputes no evil; ⁶ rejoices not at unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; ⁷ bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. ⁸ Love never fails; but whether there are prophesyings, they will be done away; whether tongues, they will cease; whether knowledge, it will be done away.

¹⁴ and over all these, love, which is the bond of perfectness.

⁶ But now, when Timothy came to us from you, and brought us good tidings of your faith and love, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you;

⁵ Now the end of the commandment is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and faith unfeigned;

⁸ but above all things having your love toward one another fervent, because love covers a multitude of sins;

⁷ and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.

¹⁸ But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory, both now and forever. Amen.

² I know thy works, and thy labor and patience, and how thou canst not bear evil men; and thou didst try those who say they are apostles, and are not, and didst find them liars; ³ and thou hast patience, and didst bear for my name's sake, and hast not been weary. ⁴ But I have this against thee, that thou hast left thy first love.

¹³ I know where thou dwellest, where the throne of Satan is; and thou holdest fast my name, and didst not deny the faith in me, even in the days in which Antipas was my faithful witness, who was slain among you, where Satan dwells.

⁴ Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God is leading thee to repentance; ⁵ and after thy hardness and impenitent heart, art treasuring up for thyself wrath in the day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

²² And what if God, willing to show forth his wrath, and to make known his power, endured with much long-suffering vessels of wrath fitted for destruction;

²⁰ who were disobedient in times past, when the long-suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was preparing, wherein a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water;

⁹ The Lord is not tardy in respect to the promise, as some account tardiness; but is long-suffering toward us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

¹⁵ And the long-suffering of our Lord account salvation; as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you;

¹¹ and blasphemed the God of heaven, because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their works.

³ I tell you, nay; but, except ye repent, ye shall all in like manner perish.

⁵ I tell you, nay; but, except ye repent, ye shall all in like manner perish.

²¹ lest, when I come again, my God shall humble me among you, and I shall bewail many of those who have sinned before, and repented not of the uncleanness, and fornication, and wantonness, which they committed.

²⁵ in meekness admonishing those who oppose themselves; if haply God may give them repentance unto the full knowledge of the truth; ²⁶ and that they may awake to soberness out of the snare of the Devil, being taken captive by him, to do his will.

² with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

³ Because all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth became rich out of the abundance of her luxury.

⁹ And the kings of the earth, who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her, shall weep, and shall lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning;

¹⁸ that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains of thousands, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all, both free and bond, both small and great. ¹⁹ And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war with him who sat on the horse, and with his army. ²⁰ And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet that wrought the signs in his presence, with which he led astray those who received the mark of the beast, and who warship his image. The two were cast alive into the lake of fire, that burns with brimstone. ²¹ And the rest were slain with the sword of him who sat upon the horse, which went forth out of his mouth; and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

²⁷ For the Son of man will come in the glory of his Father, with his angels; and then he will reward each one according to his works.

²⁴ But Jesus did not trust himself to them, because he knew all men, ²⁵ and had no need that any one should testify of man; for he himself knew what was in man.

¹⁷ He says to him the third time: Simon, son of Jonah, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said to him: Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus says to him: Feed my sheep.

²⁴ And they prayed, saying: Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all, show which of these two thou didst choose,

⁵ and after thy hardness and impenitent heart, art treasuring up for thyself wrath in the day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God; ⁶ who will render to every man according to his deeds; ⁷ to those who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; ⁸ but to those who are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, ⁹ tribulation and distress, upon every soul of man that works evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek; ¹⁰ but glory, and honor, and peace, to every man that works good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. ¹¹ For there is no respect of persons with God.

²⁷ And he who searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

¹² So then, each one of us shall give account of himself to God.

¹⁰ For we must all be made manifest before the judgment-seat of Christ; that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to the things which he did, whether good or bad.

⁵ For each one shall bear his own load.

¹³ And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight; but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

¹⁷ And if ye call him Father, who without respect of persons judges according to each one's work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear;

⁸ And I saw, and behold a pale horse; and he who sat on him, his name was Death, and the underworld followed with him. And authority was given to them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the beasts of the earth.

¹² And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne. And books were opened; and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life; and the dead were judged out of the things written in the books, according to their works.

²⁸ For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no further burden except these necessary things;

¹¹ that no advantage might be gained over us by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

³ But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve by his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from your simplicity toward Christ.

¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil. ¹² For to us, the contest is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly places.

⁹ [him,] whose coming is after the working of Satan, in all power and signs and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and in all deceit of unrighteousness for those who perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And for this cause God sends them a working of delusion, in order that they may believe the lie; ¹² that they may all be judged, who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast down, the old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, who leads astray the whole world; he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.

¹⁴ and he leads astray those who dwell on the earth, because of the signs which it was given him to do in the presence of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which has the wound of the sword, and lived.

³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am ye may be also.

²² Jesus says to him: If I will that he remain till I come, what is it to thee? Do thou follow me. ²³ This saying therefore went abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die. And Jesus said not to him, that he should not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is it to thee?

²⁸ And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be a great dearth over all the world; which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.

⁹ Let love be unfeigned. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. In brotherly love,

⁵ So then judge not anything before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each one have his praise of God.

²⁶ For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye show the Lord's death till he come.

¹⁴ Having therefore a great high priest, who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in which the heavens will pass away with a rushing noise, and the elements will be dissolved with burning heat, and the earth and the works therein will be burned up.

⁷ Behold, he comes amidst the clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they who pierced him; and all the tribes of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

²⁰ He who testifies these things, says: Yea, I come quickly. Amen; come, Lord Jesus.

²⁸ And Jesus said to them: Verily I say to you, that ye who followed me, in the renovation, when the Son of man shall sit on his throne of glory, shall also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

¹³ Those on the rock are they who, when they hear, with joy receive the word; and these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. ¹⁴ And that which fell among the thorns, these are they who have heard, and going forth are choked with the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to perfection. ¹⁵ But that in the good ground, these are they who, in an honest and good heart, having heard, hold fast the word, and bring forth fruit with patience.

²⁹ and I appoint to you a kingdom, as my Father appointed to me, ³⁰ that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom; and ye shall sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

²⁹ Jesus answered and said to them: This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he sent.

³¹ Jesus therefore said to those Jews who have believed him: If ye continue in my word, ye are truly my disciples; ³² and ye shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free.

³⁷ Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

³ Know ye not that we shall judge angels? How much more the things of this life? ⁴ If then ye have judgments about things of this life, set those to judge who are of no esteem in the church.

⁵ For this cause, when I too could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter tempted you, and our labor should be in vain.

³⁸ Now, the just shall live by faith; but if he draw back, my soul has no pleasure in him. ³⁹ But we are not of those who draw back unto perdition; but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.

²⁰ But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

¹⁹ They went out from among us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but it was in order that they might be made manifest, that all are not of us.

²³ And this is his commandment, that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and should love one another, as he gave us commandment.

⁵ Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

⁵ He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white garments; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, and I will acknowledge his name before my Father, and before his angels.

¹² He that overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out no more; and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God, and my new name.

²¹ He that overcomes, I will give to him to sit with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne.

⁴ And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them; and the souls of those beheaded on account of the testimony of Jesus, and on account of the word of God, and whoever did not worship the beast, neither his image, and did not receive the mark upon the forehead, or upon their hand; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

⁵ And there will be no night there; and they will have no need of a lamp, nor of the light of the sun, because the Lord God will give them light; and they will reign forever and ever.

²⁷ All things were delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son but the Father; nor does any one know the Father but the Son, and he to whom the Son is pleased to reveal him.

²⁹ and I appoint to you a kingdom, as my Father appointed to me,

²⁴ Father, those whom thou hast given me, I will that where I am they also be with me; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me; because thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

⁵ And she brought forth a man-child, who will rule all nations with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up to God, and to his throne.

⁷⁸ through the tender mercies of our God, whereby the dayspring from on high visited us, ⁷⁹ to give light to those sitting in darkness and the shadow of death, in order to guide our feet into the way of peace.

¹⁹ And we have more sure the prophetic word; to which ye do well that ye take heed, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts;

¹⁶ I, Jesus, sent my angel, to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright, the morning star.
