²⁰ And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me while thy handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.

¹³ These are of those who rebel against the light. They do not know the ways of it, nor abide in the paths of it. ¹⁴ The murderer rises with the light. He kills the poor and needy. And in the night he is as a thief. ¹⁵ The eye also of the adulterer waits for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me. And he disguises his face. ¹⁶ In the dark they dig through houses. They shut themselves up in the daytime. They do not know the light. ¹⁷ For the morning is to all of them as thick darkness. For they know the terrors of the thick darkness.

¹¹ If I say, Surely the darkness shall overwhelm me, and the light around me shall be night,

²⁵ But while the men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares in the midst of the wheat, and went away.

²⁰ For every man who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, so that his works may not be exposed.
