²¹ It is necessary therefore, of the men who accompanied us during all the time during which the Lord Jesus went in and went out among us,

¹⁷ who may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in, that the congregation of LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

² And he said to them, I am a hundred and twenty years old this day. I can no more go out and come in. And LORD has said to me, Thou shall not go over this Jordan.

² In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was thou who led out and brought in Israel. And LORD said to thee, Thou shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and thou shall be prince over Israel.

⁷ And now, O LORD my God, thou have made thy servant king instead of David my father. And I am but a little child; I know not how to go out or come in.

¹ Now after these things the Lord also appointed seventy other men, and sent them by twos before his face into every city and place where he himself was going to come. ² Therefore he said to them, The harvest indeed is plentiful, but the workmen are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth workmen into his harvest.

¹ Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter in by the door into the fold of the sheep, but goes up some other way, that man is a thief and a robber. ² But he who enters in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. ³ The gatekeeper opens to this man. And the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. ⁴ And when he puts forth his own sheep, he goes before them. And the sheep follow him because they know his voice. ⁵ And they will, no, not follow a stranger, but will flee from him, because they do not recognize the voice of strangers. ⁶ Jesus spoke this allegory to them, but those men did not understand what it was that he spoke to them. ⁷ Jesus therefore said to them again, Truly, truly, I say to you, that I am the door of the sheep. ⁸ All, as many as came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. ⁹ I am the door. If any man enters in by me, he will be saved, and will come in and go out, and will find pasture.

²⁷ And ye also testify, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
