⁷ And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament. And it was so.

⁹ And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear. And it was so.

¹¹ And God said, Let the earth put forth grass, herbs yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit according to their kind (in which is the seed of them) upon the earth. And it was so.

¹⁵ And let them be for lights in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth. And it was so.

²⁴ And God said, Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kind, cattle, and creeping things, and beasts of the earth according to their kind. And it was so.

⁸ He binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not burst under them.

⁸ Or who shut up the sea with doors when it broke forth, like it had issued out of the womb, ⁹ when I made clouds the garment of it, and thick darkness a swaddling-band for it, ¹⁰ and marked out for it my bound, and set bars and doors, ¹¹ and said, This far thou shall come, but no farther, and here thy proud waves shall be stayed?

¹⁰ He sends forth springs into the valleys. They run among the mountains.

⁴ Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that are above the heavens.

²⁸ when he made firm the skies above, when the fountains of the deep became strong, ²⁹ when he gave to the sea its bound that the waters should not transgress his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth,

³ If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth, and if a tree falls toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falls, there shall it be.

²⁷ But the men marveled, saying, What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?
