¹⁷ Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?

⁶ Passing through the valley of weeping they make it a place of springs. Yea, the early rain covers it with blessings.

³³ He turns rivers into a wilderness, and water springs into a thirsty ground,

³⁵ He turns a wilderness into a pool of water, and a dry land into water springs.

⁶ And I will lay it waste. It shall not be pruned nor hoed, but there shall come up briers and thorns. I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

¹⁵ until the Spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be esteemed as a forest.

¹ The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad. And the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. ² It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of LORD, the excellency of our God.

¹⁹ I will put in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia, and the myrtle, and the oil tree. I will set in the desert the fir tree, the pine, and the box tree together,

⁵ And now says LORD who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, and that Israel be gathered to him (for I am honorable in the eyes of LORD, and my God has become my strength), ⁶ yea, he says, It is too light a thing that thou should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel. I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou may be my salvation to the end of the earth.

¹³ Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree. And it shall be to LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.

¹⁸ Thy holy people possessed it but a little while. Our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.

¹² I will destine you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter. Because when I called, ye did not answer, when I spoke, ye did not hear, but ye did that which was evil in my eyes, and chose that in which I did not delight. ¹³ Therefore thus says the lord LORD, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry. Behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty. Behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be put to shame. ¹⁴ Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall wail for vexation of spirit. ¹⁵ And ye shall leave your name for a curse to my chosen, and the lord LORD will kill thee. And he will call his servants by another name, ¹⁶ so that he who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth, and he who swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth. Because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from my eyes.

⁴⁶ Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the South. ⁴⁷ And say to the forest of the South, Hear the word of LORD. Thus says the lord LORD: Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree. The flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burnt by it.

⁹ And LORD said, Call his name Lo-ammi, for ye are not my people, and I will not be yours. ¹⁰ Yet the number of the sons of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered. And it shall come to pass that, in the place where it was said to them, Ye are not my people, it shall be said to them, The sons of the living God.

⁴ For the sons of Israel shall abide many days without king, and without ruler, and without sacrifice, and without pillar, and without ephod or teraphim.

¹² Therefore for your sake Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

³ For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hastens toward the end, and shall not lie. Though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come. It will not delay.

⁶ For thus says LORD of hosts: Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land.

¹ Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars. ² Wail, O fir tree, for the cedar is fallen, because the fine ones are destroyed. Wail, O ye oaks of Bashan, for the strong forest has come down.

³⁰ But many first will be last, and last, first.

¹⁸ Now early while returning to the city, he was hungry. ¹⁹ And having seen a fig tree, one on the way, he came to it, and found nothing on it, except leaves only. And he says to it, Let fruit no longer be produced from thee into the age. And immediately the fig tree dried out.

⁴³ Because of this I say to you, that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you, and will be given to a nation producing the fruits of it.

¹¹ I say then, did they stumble so that they would fall? May it not happen! But in their transgression, salvation is to the Gentiles, in order to provoke them to jealousy. ¹² Now if their transgression is wealth of the world, and their failure is wealth of Gentiles, how much more their fullness? ¹³ For I speak to you the Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am indeed an apostle of Gentiles, I enhance my ministry, ¹⁴ if somehow I may provoke my flesh to jealousy and may save some of them. ¹⁵ For if the casting away of them is reconciliation of the world, what is the acceptance except life from the dead? ¹⁶ And if the first fruit is holy, the branch is also. And if the root is holy, the branches are also. ¹⁷ And if some of the branches were broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and became a joint partaker of the root of the fatness of the olive tree,

¹⁹ Thou will therefore say, Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in. ²⁰ Correct! They were broken off for their unbelief, and thou stand by thy faith. Be not high-minded but fear, ²¹ for if God spared not the natural branches, perhaps neither will he spare thee. ²² Behold therefore the goodness and the severity of God. Indeed toward those who fell, severity, but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness, otherwise thou too will be cut off. ²³ And also those, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. ²⁴ For if thou were cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural ones, be grafted into their own olive tree. ²⁵ For I do not want you, brothers, to be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise according to yourselves, that a callousness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles come in. ²⁶ And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written, The man who delivers will come from Zion, and will turn away impiety from Jacob. ²⁷ And this is the covenant from me to them when I will take away their sins.

³⁷ For yet a very little while, he who is coming will come, and will not delay.
