⁷ The steps of his strength shall be restricted, and his own counsel shall cast him down.

³¹ And it was told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

¹⁴ And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For LORD had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.

¹² He frustrates the devices of the crafty so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. ¹³ He takes the wise in their own craftiness, and the counsel of the cunning is carried headlong.

⁶ Thine own mouth condemns thee, and not I. Yes, thine own lips testify against thee.

²² In the fullness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits. The hand of everyone who is in misery shall come upon him.

¹⁶ Yea, he would have allured thee out of distress into a broad place, where there is no confinement, and that which is set on thy table would be full of fatness.

³⁶ Thou have enlarged my steps under me, and my feet have not slipped.

¹⁰ LORD brings the counsel of the nations to naught. He makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.

³⁰ They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof. ³¹ Therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. ³² For the backsliding of the simple shall kill them, and the careless ease of fools shall destroy them.

¹² When thou go, thy steps shall not be restricted. And if thou run, thou shall not stumble.

⁶ It shall also be carried to Assyria for a present to king Jareb. Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, He who catches the wise in their craftiness,
