⁵ and said, For this reason a man will leave his father and mother behind, and will be bonded with his wife, and the two will be in one flesh?

²¹ And LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept. And God took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in place of it. ²² And the rib, which LORD God had taken from the man, he made a woman, and brought her to the man. ²³ And the man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. ²⁴ Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cling to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.

³ And his soul clung to Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spoke kindly to the damsel.

⁴ But ye who clung to LORD your God are alive every one of you this day.

²⁰ Thou shall fear LORD thy God. Him thou shall serve, and to him thou shall cling, and by his name thou shall swear.

²² For if ye shall diligently keep all this commandment which I command you, to do it, to love LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cling to him,

⁵ But having answered, Jesus said to them, For your hard heart he wrote for you this commandment. ⁶ But from the beginning of creation God made them male and female. ⁷ Because of this a man will leave his father and mother behind, and will be bonded with his wife, ⁸ and the two will be in one flesh. So then they are no more two, but one flesh. ⁹ What therefore God has joined together, no man shall separate.

⁹ Love without hypocrisy, abhorring what is evil, clinging to what is good,

¹⁶ Or know ye not that he who is joined to a harlot is one body? For, The two, he says, will be in one flesh.

² But because of fornications, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.

⁴ The wife has not the right of her private body, but the husband, and likewise also the husband has not the right of his private body, but the wife.

³¹ Separate from this a man will leave his father and mother behind, and will be bonded with his wife, and the two will be in one flesh.
