⁷ So I fed the flock of slaughter, truly the poor of the flock. And I took to me two staves, the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands, and I fed the flock.

³² And all the tithe of the herd or the flock, whatever passes under the rod, the tenth shall be holy to LORD.

⁴⁰ And he took his staff in his hand, and chose for him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in the shepherd's bag which he had, even in his wallet. And his sling was in his hand, and he drew near to the Philistine.

⁴³ And the Philistine said to David, Am I a dog, that thou come to me with sticks? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

⁴ Yea, tho I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou are with me, thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.

¹ Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity! ² It is like the precious oil upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard, that came down upon the skirt of his garments, ³ like the dew of Hermon, that comes down upon the mountains of Zion. For there LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

⁴ but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth. And he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked.

¹ The Spirit of the lord LORD is upon me, because LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, and the opening of bonds to those who are bound,

⁴ Then I said, Surely these are poor, they are foolish, for they know not the way of LORD, nor the law of their God. ⁵ I will go to the great men, and will speak to them, for they know the way of LORD, and the law of their God. But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

¹⁶ And thou, son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the sons of Israel his companions. Then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions. ¹⁷ And join them one to another into one stick for thyself, that they may become one in thy hand. ¹⁸ And when the sons of thy people shall speak to thee, saying, Will thou not show us what thou mean by these? ¹⁹ say to them, Thus says the lord LORD: Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions, and I will put them with it, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in my hand. ²⁰ And the sticks on which thou write shall be in thy hand before their eyes. ²¹ And say to them, Thus says the lord LORD: Behold, I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land. ²² And I will make them one nation in the land, upon the mountains of Israel, and one king shall be king to them all. And they shall no more be two nations, nor shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all. ²³ Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions, but I will save them out of all their dwelling-places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. So they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

¹² But I will leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall take refuge in the name of LORD.

⁴ Thus said LORD my God: Feed the flock of slaughter,

¹⁰ And I took my staff Beauty, and cut it apart, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the peoples. ¹¹ And it was broken in that day, and thus the poor of the flock who gave heed to me knew that it was the word of LORD.

¹⁴ Then I cut apart my other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

⁸ And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, says LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die, but the third shall be left in it. ⁹ And I will bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried. They shall call on my name, and I will hear them. I will say, It is my people, and they shall say, LORD is my God.

⁵ the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor are proclaimed good news.

³⁷ David himself therefore calls him Lord, and in what way is he his son? And the great multitude heard him gladly.

¹⁶ And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring those also, and they will hear my voice. And there will become one flock, one shepherd.

²¹ so that they may all be one, just as thou, Father, are in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that thou sent me. ²² And I, the glory that thou have given me, I have given to them, so that they may be one, just as we are one, ²³ I in them, and thou in me, that they may be fully perfected in one, and so that the world may know that thou sent me, and loved them, just as thou loved me.

¹³ But now in Christ Jesus ye, being formerly far off, became near in the blood of the Christ. ¹⁴ For he is our peace, who made both one, and broke down the dividing wall of partition, ¹⁵ having abolished in his flesh the enmity-the law of the commandments in ordinances-so that he might create in himself the two into one new man, making peace, ¹⁶ and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, having slain the enmity by it.

⁵ Listen, my beloved brothers, did not God choose the poor of the world, rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom, which he promised to those who love him?
