⁴ And Jonathan spoke good of David to Saul his father, and said to him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he has not sinned against you, and because his works have been to you-ward very good:

⁶ Whoever sheds man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

²² And Reuben answered them, saying, Spoke I not to you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and you would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

²⁵ If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall entreat for him? Notwithstanding they listened not to the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.

³² And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said to him, Why shall he be slain? what has he done?

¹⁴ Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all your servants as David, which is the king's son in law, and goes at your bidding, and is honorable in your house?

²² If a man sin against his neighbor, and an oath be laid on him to make him swear, and the oath come before your altar in this house;

¹² They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.

⁴ For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself to prayer. ⁵ And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

¹³ Whoever rewards evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.

¹¹ If you forbear to deliver them that are drawn to death, and those that are ready to be slain; ¹² If you say, Behold, we knew it not; does not he that ponders the heart consider it? and he that keeps your soul, does not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

⁸ Open your mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. ⁹ Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

²⁰ Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have dig a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before you to speak good for them, and to turn away your wrath from them.

¹² But when you sin so against the brothers, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

¹⁵ Whoever hates his brother is a murderer: and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
