⁷³ The oath which he swore to our father Abraham,

¹⁶ And said, By myself have I sworn, said the LORD, for because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son: ¹⁷ That in blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is on the sea shore; and your seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; ¹⁸ And in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because you have obeyed my voice.

⁷ The LORD God of heaven, which took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spoke to me, and that swore to me, saying, To your seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife to my son from there.

³ Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you; for to you, and to your seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father;

⁸ But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn to your fathers, has the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of slaves, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

¹² Why it shall come to pass, if you listen to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD your God shall keep to you the covenant and the mercy which he swore to your fathers:

⁹ Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac;

⁵ That I may perform the oath which I have sworn to your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD.

¹³ For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he swore by himself,

¹⁶ For men truly swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. ¹⁷ Wherein God, willing more abundantly to show to the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
