³ And they come to him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

²⁴ And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought to him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

¹ And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city. ² And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said to the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; your sins be forgiven you. ³ And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemes. ⁴ And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Why think you evil in your hearts? ⁵ For whether is easier, to say, Your sins be forgiven you; or to say, Arise, and walk? ⁶ But that you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (then said he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house. ⁷ And he arose, and departed to his house. ⁸ But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled, and glorified God, which had given such power to men.

¹⁸ And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. ¹⁹ And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went on the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the middle before Jesus. ²⁰ And when he saw their faith, he said to him, Man, your sins are forgiven you. ²¹ And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? ²² But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said to them, What reason you in your hearts? ²³ Whether is easier, to say, Your sins be forgiven you; or to say, Rise up and walk? ²⁴ But that you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (he said to the sick of the palsy,) I say to you, Arise, and take up your couch, and go into your house. ²⁵ And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that where on he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. ²⁶ And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.
