¹¹ My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

⁵ But now it is come on you, and you faint; it touches you, and you are troubled.

¹⁷ Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects: therefore despise not you the chastening of the Almighty:

¹² Blessed is the man whom you chasten, O LORD, and teach him out of your law;

¹⁰ If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.

³⁰ Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: ³¹ But they that wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

³² But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

¹ Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

¹⁶ For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. ¹⁷ For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

³ For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest you be wearied and faint in your minds.

⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to children, My son, despise not you the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked of him: ⁶ For whom the Lord loves he chastens, and whips every son whom he receives. ⁷ If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chastens not? ⁸ But if you be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are you bastards, and not sons. ⁹ Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live? ¹⁰ For they truly for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. ¹¹ Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to them which are exercised thereby. ¹² Why lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

¹⁹ As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
