¹⁷ He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:

²⁷ Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be on him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brothers were content. ²⁸ Then there passed by Midianites merchants; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.

³⁶ And the Midianites sold him into Egypt to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, and captain of the guard.

⁷ And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. ⁸ So now it was not you that sent me here, but God: and he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

²⁰ But as for you, you thought evil against me; but God meant it to good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

⁹ And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,
