⁵ And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in; but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the lands.

⁶ In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath,
In the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied,
And the travellers walked through byways.

⁶ When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait (for the people were distressed), then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in coverts, and in pits.

⁸ Jehovah will keep thy going out and thy coming in
From this time forth and for evermore.

⁶ And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that ye be not troubled: for [these things] must needs come to pass; but the end is not yet. ⁷ For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and earthquakes in divers places.
