³¹ Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

¹¹ For he will give his angels charge over thee,
To keep thee in all thy ways. ¹² They shall bear thee up in their hands,
Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

¹¹ For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end. ¹² And ye shall call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. ¹³ And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

³⁶ Then the nations that are left round about you shall know that I, Jehovah, have builded the ruined places, and planted that which was desolate: I, Jehovah, have spoken it, and I will do it.
³⁷ Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: For this, moreover, will I be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them: I will increase them with men like a flock.

³⁴ And Mary said unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? ³⁵ And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee: wherefore also the holy thing which is begotten shall be called the Son of God.

⁹ And he led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: ¹⁰ for it is written,
He shall give his angels charge concerning thee, to guard thee: ¹¹ and,
On their hands they shall bear thee up,
Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone. ¹² And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God.

³⁷ All that which the Father giveth me shall come unto me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

¹¹ But the centurion gave more heed to the master and to the owner of the ship, than to those things which were spoken by Paul.

²¹ And when they had been long without food, then Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have set sail from Crete, and have gotten this injury and loss. ²² And now I exhort you to be of good cheer; for there shall be no loss of life among you, but [only] of the ship. ²³ For there stood by me this night an angel of the God whose I am, whom also I serve, ²⁴ saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must stand before Cζsar: and lo, God hath granted thee all them that sail with thee.

⁴² And the soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any [of them] should swim out, and escape. ⁴³ But the centurion, desiring to save Paul, stayed them from their purpose; and commanded that they who could swim should cast themselves overboard, and get first to the land;

¹³ But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, for that God chose you from the beginning unto salvation in sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: ¹⁴ whereunto he called you through our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
