⁶ O my soul, come not thou into their council;
Unto their assembly, my glory, be not thou united;
For in their anger they slew a man,
And in their self-will they hocked an ox.

²⁵ And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city unawares, and slew all the males. ²⁶ And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem's house, and went forth.

³⁰ And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me, to make me odious to the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and, I being few in number, they will gather themselves together against me and smite me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.

²⁴ Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbor in secret. And all the people shall say, Amen.

²¹ The river Kishon swept them away,

O my soul, march on with strength.

¹ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor standeth in the way of sinners,
Nor sitteth in the seat of scoffers:

¹⁰ Hold them guilty, O God;
Let them fall by their own counsels;
Thrust them out in the multitude of their transgressions;
For they have rebelled against thee.

⁹ Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth;
My flesh also shall dwell in safety.

⁴ I have not sat with men of falsehood;
Neither will I go in with dissemblers. ⁵ I hate the assembly of evil-doers,
And will not sit with the wicked.

⁹ Gather not my soul with sinners,
Nor my life with men of blood;

³ Draw me not away with the wicked,
And with the workers of iniquity;
That speak peace with their neighbors,
But mischief is in their hearts.

¹² To the end that [my] glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent.
O Jehovah my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

And [why] art thou disquieted within me?
Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise him

Which frameth mischief by statute? ²¹ They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous,
And condemn the innocent blood.

Bless Jehovah, O my soul;
And all that is within me, [bless] his holy name.

¹⁹ Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God:
Depart from me therefore, ye bloodthirsty men.

¹¹ If they say, Come with us,
Let us lay wait for blood;
Let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause;

¹⁵ My son, walk not thou in the way with them;
Refrain thy foot from their path: ¹⁶ For their feet run to evil,
And they make haste to shed blood.

⁵ The thoughts of the righteous are just;
[But] the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

¹⁹ My anguish, my anguish! I am pained at my very heart; my heart is disquieted in me; I cannot hold my peace; because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.

¹⁷ I sat not in the assembly of them that make merry, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand; for thou hast filled me with indignation.

¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, be merry.

¹⁴ Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers: for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? or what communion hath light with darkness?
