² How long will ye vex my soul,
And break me in pieces with words?

¹⁶ And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, that his soul was vexed unto death.

² How long wilt thou speak these things?
And [how long] shall the words of thy mouth be [like] a mighty wind?

² How long will ye hunt for words?
Consider, and afterwards we will speak.

² As God liveth, who hath taken away my right,
And the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul:

² Have mercy upon me, O Jehovah; for I am withered away:
O Jehovah, heal me; for my bones are troubled. ³ My soul also is sore troubled:
And thou, O Jehovah, how long?

How long, O Jehovah? wilt thou forget me for ever?
How long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

¹⁰ As with a sword in my bones, mine adversaries reproach me,
While they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

²¹ His mouth was smooth as butter,
But his heart was war:
His words were softer than oil,
Yet were they drawn swords.

⁷ Behold, they belch out with their mouth;
Swords are in their lips:
For who, [say they], doth hear?

³ Who have whet their tongue like a sword,
And have aimed their arrows, even bitter words,

¹⁸ There is that speaketh rashly like the piercings of a sword;
But the tongue of the wise is health.

²¹ Death and life are in the power of the tongue;
And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

⁶ And the tongue is a fire: the world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the wheel of nature, and is set on fire by hell. ⁷ For every kind of beasts and birds, of creeping things and things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind: ⁸ but the tongue can no man tame; [it is] a restless evil, [it is] full of deadly poison.

⁷ and delivered righteous Lot, sore distressed by the lascivious life of the wicked ⁸ (for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed [his] righteous soul from day to day with [their] lawless deeds):

¹⁰ and they cried with a great voice, saying, How long, O Master, the holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
