¹ And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams. ² And Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bullock and a ram. ³ And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt-offering, and I will go: peradventure Jehovah will come to meet me; and whatsoever he showeth me I will tell thee. And he went to a bare height. ⁴ And God met Balaam: and he said unto him, I have prepared the seven altars, and I have offered up a bullock and a ram on every altar. ⁵ And Jehovah put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak. ⁶ And he returned unto him, and, lo, he was standing by his burnt-offering, he, and all the princes of Moab. ⁷ And he took up his parable, and said,
From Aram hath Balak brought me,
The king of Moab from the mountains of the East:
Come, curse me Jacob,
And come, defy Israel. ⁸ How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed?
And how shall I defy, whom Jehovah hath not defied? ⁹ For from the top of the rocks I see him,
And from the hills I behold him:
Lo, it is a people that dwelleth alone,
And shall not be reckoned among the nations. ¹⁰ Who can count the dust of Jacob,
Or number the fourth part of Israel?
Let me die the death of the righteous,
And let my last end be like his! ¹¹ And Balak said unto Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed them altogether. ¹² And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which Jehovah putteth in my mouth?
¹³ And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them; thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence. ¹⁴ And he took him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered up a bullock and a ram on every altar. ¹⁵ And he said unto Balak, Stand here by thy burnt-offering, while I meet [Jehovah] yonder. ¹⁶ And Jehovah met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus shalt thou speak. ¹⁷ And he came to him, and, lo, he was standing by his burnt-offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath Jehovah spoken? ¹⁸ And he took up his parable, and said,
Rise up, Balak, and hear;
Hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor: ¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie,
Neither the son of man, that he should repent:
Hath he said, and will he not do it?
Or hath he spoken, and will he not make it good? ²⁰ Behold, I have received [commandment] to bless:
And he hath blessed, and I cannot reverse it. ²¹ He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob;
Neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel:
Jehovah his God is with him,
And the shout of a king is among them. ²² God bringeth them forth out of Egypt;
He hath as it were the strength of the wild-ox. ²³ Surely there is no enchantment with Jacob;
Neither is there any divination with Israel:
Now shall it be said of Jacob and of Israel,
What hath God wrought! ²⁴ Behold, the people riseth up as a lioness,
And as a lion doth he lift himself up:
He shall not lie down until he eat of the prey,
And drink the blood of the slain. ²⁵ And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all. ²⁶ But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that Jehovah speaketh, that I must do?
²⁷ And Balak said unto Balaam, Come now, I will take thee unto another place; peradventure it will please God that thou mayest curse me them from thence. ²⁸ And Balak took Balaam unto the top of Peor, that looketh down upon the desert. ²⁹ And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams. ³⁰ And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered up a bullock and a ram on every altar.

²⁴ An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt-offerings, and thy peace-offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in every place where I record my name I will come unto thee and I will bless thee.

¹ And thou shalt make the altar of acacia wood, five cubits long, and five cubits broad; the altar shall be foursquare: and the height thereof shall be three cubits. ² And thou shalt make the horns of it upon the four corners thereof; the horns thereof shall be of one piece with it: and thou shalt overlay it with brass. ³ And thou shalt make its pots to take away its ashes, and its shovels, and its basins, and its flesh-hooks, and its firepans: all the vessels thereof thou shalt make of brass. ⁴ And thou shalt make for it a grating of network of brass: and upon the net shalt thou make four brazen rings in the four corners thereof. ⁵ And thou shalt put it under the ledge round the altar beneath, that the net may reach halfway up the altar. ⁶ And thou shalt make staves for the altar, staves of acacia wood, and overlay them with brass. ⁷ And the staves thereof shall be put into the rings, and the staves shall be upon the two sides of the altar, in bearing it. ⁸ Hollow with planks shalt thou make it: as it hath been showed thee in the mount, so shall they make it.

²⁹ And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

³² And on the seventh day seven bullocks, two rams, fourteen he-lambs a year old without blemish;

²² And Samuel said, Hath Jehovah as great delight in burnt-offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

²² But if ye say unto me, We trust in Jehovah our God; is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

²⁶ And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, that they sacrificed seven bullocks and seven rams.

²¹ And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he-goats, for a sin-offering for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of Jehovah.

⁸ Now therefore, take unto you seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt-offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you; for him will I accept, that I deal not with you after your folly; for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.

⁸ I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices;
And thy burnt-offerings are continually before me. ⁹ I will take no bullock out of thy house,
Nor he-goats out of thy folds.

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah;
But the prayer of the upright is his delight.

¹¹ What unto me is the multitude of your sacrifices? saith Jehovah: I have had enough of the burnt-offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he-goats. ¹² When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to trample my courts? ¹³ Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; new moon and sabbath, the calling of assemblies,—I cannot away with iniquity and the solemn meeting. ¹⁴ Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth; they are a trouble unto me; I am weary of bearing them. ¹⁵ And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

³¹ And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but do them not; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their gain.

²³ And the seven days of the feast he shall prepare a burnt-offering to Jehovah, seven bullocks and seven rams without blemish daily the seven days; and a he-goat daily for a sin-offering.

¹³ But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye shut the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye enter not in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering in to enter.

¹¹ Woe unto them! for they went in the way of Cain, and ran riotously in the error of Balaam for hire, and perished in the gainsaying of Korah.

¹⁴ And he took him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered up a bullock and a ram on every altar.

²⁰ And Noah builded an altar unto Jehovah, and took of every clean beast, and of every clean bird, and offered burnt-offerings on the altar.

⁷ And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold, the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt-offering? ⁸ And Abraham said, God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son: so they went both of them together.

¹³ And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, behind [him] a ram caught in the thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt-offering in the stead of his son.

¹² And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took a burnt-offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father-in-law before God.

¹ And Jehovah called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tent of meeting, saying,

⁸ And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as Jehovah shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam. ⁹ And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?

³¹ Then Jehovah opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of Jehovah standing in the way, with his sword drawn in his hand; and he bowed his head, and fell on his face. ³² And the angel of Jehovah said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I am come forth for an adversary, because thy way is perverse before me: ³³ and the ass saw me, and turned aside before me these three times: unless she had turned aside from me, surely now I had even slain thee, and saved her alive. ³⁴ And Balaam said unto the angel of Jehovah, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again. ³⁵ And the angel of Jehovah said unto Balaam, Go with the men; but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

¹⁵ And he said unto Balak, Stand here by thy burnt-offering, while I meet [Jehovah] yonder.

¹ And when Balaam saw that it pleased Jehovah to bless Israel, he went not, as at the other times, to meet with enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

⁹ And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?

²⁰ And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men are come to call thee, rise up, go with them; but only the word which I speak unto thee, that shalt thou do.

¹ And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

¹⁶ And Jehovah met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus shalt thou speak.

³ Wherefore have we fasted, [say they], and thou seest not? [wherefore] have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find [your own] pleasure, and exact all your labors. ⁴ Behold, ye fast for strife and contention, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye fast not this day so as to make your voice to be heard on high.

¹² saying, These last have spent [but] one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.

¹² I fast twice in the week; I give tithes of all that I get.

² They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you shall think that he offereth service unto God.

²⁷ Where then is the glorying? It is excluded. By what manner of law? of works? Nay: but by a law of faith.

⁹ not of works, that no man should glory.

³⁵ And the angel of Jehovah said unto Balaam, Go with the men; but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

¹⁸ I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

¹ The plans of the heart belong to man;
But the answer of the tongue is from Jehovah.

⁹ A man's heart deviseth his way;
But Jehovah directeth his steps.

¹⁶ And I have put my words in thy mouth, and have covered thee in the shadow of my hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.

²¹ And as for me, this is my covenant with them, saith Jehovah: my Spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seeds seed, saith Jehovah, from henceforth and for ever.

⁹ Then Jehovah put forth his hand, and touched my mouth; and Jehovah said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth:

¹² for the Holy Spirit shall teach you in that very hour what ye ought to say.

⁵¹ Now this he said not of himself: but, being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation;

²² The sons of Shem: Elam, and Asshur, and Arpachshad, and Lud, and Aram.

² Arise, go to Paddan-aram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother.

⁷ and that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Paddan-aram:

⁵ And he sent messengers unto Balaam the son of Beor, to Pethor, which is by the River, to the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me. ⁶ Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land; for I know that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.

¹¹ Behold, the people that is come out of Egypt, it covereth the face of the earth: now, come curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to fight against them, and shall drive them out.

¹⁷ for I will promote thee unto very great honor, and whatsoever thou sayest unto me I will do: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.

⁴ because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt, and because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee.

¹⁰ And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.

²⁵ And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel. ²⁶ And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?

³⁶ Thy servant smote both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

⁴⁵ Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a javelin: but I come to thee in the name of Jehovah of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

²¹ And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei, David's brother, slew him.

⁹ And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodai the son of an Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away.

So the curse that is causeless alighteth not.

² Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel;

⁴⁹ Then said I, Ah Lord Jehovah! they say of me, Is he not a speaker of parables?

⁴ In that day shall they take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, [and] say, We are utterly ruined: he changeth the portion of my people: how doth he remove [it] from me! to the rebellious he divideth our fields.

⁶ Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and that ladeth himself with pledges!

³³ Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till it was all leavened.

³⁵ that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,
I will open my mouth in parables;
I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world.

¹² And they sought to lay hold on him; and they feared the multitude; for they perceived that he spake the parable against them: and they left him, and went away.

¹² And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people; for they are blessed.

²⁰ Behold, I have received [commandment] to bless:
And he hath blessed, and I cannot reverse it.

²⁵ that frustrateth the signs of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;

¹² Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast labored from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail. ¹³ Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels: let now the astrologers, the star-gazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from the things that shall come upon thee.

⁵ Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be mine own possession from among all peoples: for all the earth is mine: ⁶ and ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

¹⁶ For wherein now shall it be known that I have found favor in thy sight, I and thy people? is it not in that thou goest with us, so that we are separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth?

⁸ When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance,
When he separated the children of men,
He set the bounds of the peoples
According to the number of the children of Israel.

²⁸ And Israel dwelleth in safety,
The fountain of Jacob alone,
In a land of grain and new wine;
Yea, his heavens drop down dew.

² For they have taken of their daughters for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the peoples of the lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.

⁸ And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from [those of] every people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.

²⁸ Fear not thou, O Jacob my servant, saith Jehovah; for I am with thee: for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee; but I will not make a full end of thee, but I will correct thee in measure, and will in no wise leave thee unpunished.

⁹ For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all the nations, like as [grain] is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least kernel fall upon the earth.

⁸ For I say that Christ hath been made a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, that he might confirm the promises [given] unto the fathers, ⁹ and that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written,
Therefore will I give praise unto thee among the Gentiles,
And sing unto thy name. ¹⁰ And again he saith,
Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.

¹⁷ Wherefore
Come ye out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord,
And touch no unclean thing;
And I will receive you,

¹² that ye were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world. ¹³ But now in Christ Jesus ye that once were far off are made nigh in the blood of Christ. ¹⁴ For he is our peace, who made both one, and brake down the middle wall of partition,

¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own possession, zealous of good works.

⁹ But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for [God's] own possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

¹⁶ And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then may thy seed also be numbered.

¹⁷ that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heavens, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

¹⁴ and thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

⁹ All that were numbered of the camp of Judah were a hundred thousand and fourscore thousand and six thousand and four hundred, according to their hosts. They shall set forth first.

¹⁶ All that were numbered of the camp of Reuben were a hundred thousand and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty, according to their hosts. And they shall set forth second.

²⁴ All that were numbered of the camp of Ephraim were a hundred thousand and eight thousand and a hundred, according to their hosts. And they shall set forth third.

³¹ All that were numbered of the camp of Dan were a hundred thousand and fifty and seven thousand and six hundred. They shall set forth hindmost by their standards.

³⁷ Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright;
For there is a [happy] end to the man of peace.

¹⁵ Precious in the sight of Jehovah
Is the death of his saints.

³² The wicked is thrust down in his evil-doing;
But the righteous hath a refuge in his death.

¹ The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart; and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil [to come]. ² He entereth into peace; they rest in their beds, each one that walketh in his uprightness.

²⁹ Now lettest thou thy servant depart, Lord,
According to thy word, in peace; ³⁰ For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

²¹ Wherefore let no one glory in men. For all things are yours; ²² whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;

⁵³ For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. ⁵⁴ But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. ⁵⁵ O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting? ⁵⁶ The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law: ⁵⁷ but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹ For we know that if the earthly house of our tabernacle be dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens.

²¹ For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. ²² But if to live in the flesh,—[if] this shall bring fruit from my work, then what I shall choose I know not. ²³ But I am in a strait betwixt the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ; for it is very far better:

⁶ For I am already being offered, and the time of my departure is come. ⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith: ⁸ henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give to me at that day; and not to me only, but also to all them that have loved his appearing.

¹³ And I think it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; ¹⁴ knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle cometh swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ signified unto me. ¹⁵ Yea, I will give diligence that at every time ye may be able after my decease to call these things to remembrance.

¹³ And I heard a voice from heaven saying, Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth: yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; for their works follow with them.

¹⁰ And Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together; and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

² because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, to curse them: howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing.

¹⁷ Yea, he loved cursing, and it came unto him;
And he delighted not in blessing, and it was far from him. ¹⁸ He clothed himself also with cursing as with his garment,
And it came into his inward parts like water,
And like oil into his bones. ¹⁹ Let it be unto him as the raiment wherewith he covereth himself,
And for the girdle wherewith he is girded continually. ²⁰ This is the reward of mine adversaries from Jehovah,
And of them that speak evil against my soul.

³⁸ And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to speak anything? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak.

²⁶ But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that Jehovah speaketh, that I must do?

¹³ If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of Jehovah, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; what Jehovah speaketh, that will I speak?

²⁵ When he speaketh fair, believe him not;
For there are seven abominations in his heart:

¹⁸ For they that are such serve not our Lord Christ, but their own belly; and by their smooth and fair speech they beguile the hearts of the innocent.

¹⁶ They profess that they know God; but by their works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

⁴¹ And it came to pass in the morning, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal; and he saw from thence the utmost part of the people.

⁹ Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and fought against Israel: and he sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you;

²³ And the servants of the king of Syria said unto him, Their god is a god of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we: but let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.

²⁸ And a man of God came near and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith Jehovah, Because the Syrians have said, Jehovah is a god of the hills, but he is not a god of the valleys; therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thy hand, and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.

¹⁷ Yea, he loved cursing, and it came unto him;
And he delighted not in blessing, and it was far from him.

⁵ O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him; [remember] from Shittim unto Gilgal, that ye may know the righteous acts of Jehovah.

⁹ Therewith bless we the Lord and Father; and therewith curse we men, who are made after the likeness of God: ¹⁰ out of the same mouth cometh forth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

²⁰ and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the field of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh down upon the desert.

¹ And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams. ² And Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bullock and a ram.

²⁷ Get thee up unto the top of Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold with thine eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Jordan.

⁴⁹ and all the Arabah beyond the Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the Arabah, under the slopes of Pisgah.

¹ And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And Jehovah showed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan,

¹⁰ Hear the word of Jehovah, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah. ¹¹ What unto me is the multitude of your sacrifices? saith Jehovah: I have had enough of the burnt-offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he-goats.

⁶ Such as lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, they hire a goldsmith, and he maketh it a god; they fall down, yea, they worship.

¹¹ Is Gilead iniquity? they are altogether false; in Gilgal they sacrifice bullocks; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the field.

⁸ And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as Jehovah shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.

³ And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt-offering, and I will go: peradventure Jehovah will come to meet me; and whatsoever he showeth me I will tell thee. And he went to a bare height.

⁵ And Jehovah put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak.

¹⁷ And he said, What is the thing that [Jehovah] hath spoken unto thee? I pray thee, hide it not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide anything from me of all the things that he spake unto thee.

¹⁷ then Zedekiah the king sent, and fetched him: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from Jehovah? And Jeremiah said, There is. He said also, Thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.

²⁰ And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting by himself alone in the cool upper room. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat.

²⁹ And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent.

¹⁷ And this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; but thou hast spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O Jehovah God.

³⁵ Once have I sworn by my holiness:
I will not lie unto David:

⁹ I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee; and I will not come in wrath.

²⁰ Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, [and] the lovingkindness to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.

³ For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hasteth toward the end, and shall not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not delay.

⁶ For I, Jehovah, change not; therefore ye, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.

³³ Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

²⁹ For the gifts and the calling of God are not repented of.

² in hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before times eternal;

¹⁸ that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us:

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, neither shadow that is cast by turning.

² and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and be thou a blessing:

¹⁸ And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of Jehovah my God, to do less or more.

¹³ Yea, since the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who can hinder it?

²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: ²⁸ and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who hath given [them] unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch [them] out of the Father's hand.

³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, ³⁹ nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

⁵ who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

²¹ And Jehovah went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them the way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; that they might go by day and by night:

⁴⁵ And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God. ⁴⁶ And they shall know that I am Jehovah their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I might dwell among them: I am Jehovah their God.

¹⁴ And he said, My presence shall go [with thee], and I will give thee rest. ¹⁵ And he said unto him, If thy presence go not [with me], carry us not up hence. ¹⁶ For wherein now shall it be known that I have found favor in thy sight, I and thy people? is it not in that thou goest with us, so that we are separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth?

⁹ And he said, If now I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, let the Lord, I pray thee, go in the midst of us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.

⁵ And he was king in Jeshurun,
When the heads of the people were gathered,
All the tribes of Israel together.

¹³ And Gideon said unto him, Oh, my lord, if Jehovah is with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where are all his wondrous works which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not Jehovah bring us up from Egypt? but now Jehovah hath cast us off, and delivered us into the hand of Midian.

¹² And, behold, God is with us at our head, and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to sound an alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against Jehovah, the God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.

⁴ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; for thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.

² Blessed is the man unto whom Jehovah imputeth not iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no guile.

⁵ I acknowledged my sin unto thee,
And mine iniquity did I not hide:
I said, I will confess my transgressions unto Jehovah;
And thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. [Selah

⁵ God is gone up with a shout,

¹⁵ Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound:
They walk, O Jehovah, in the light of thy countenance. ¹⁶ In thy name do they rejoice all the day;
And in thy righteousness are they exalted. ¹⁷ For thou art the glory of their strength;
And in thy favor our horn shall be exalted. ¹⁸ For our shield belongeth unto Jehovah;
And our king to the Holy One of Israel.

¹ Jehovah reigneth; let the earth rejoice;
Let the multitude of isles be glad.

¹² As far as the east is from the west,
So far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

¹⁵ The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous:
The right hand of Jehovah doeth valiantly.

¹⁸ Come now, and let us reason together, saith Jehovah: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

¹⁰ Take counsel together, and it shall be brought to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.

⁶ Cry aloud and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion; for great in the midst of thee is the Holy One of Israel.

²² For Jehovah is our judge, Jehovah is our lawgiver, Jehovah is our king; he will save us.

¹⁷ Behold, [it was] for [my] peace [that] I had great bitterness:
But thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption;
For thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

¹⁰ fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

²⁰ In those days, and in that time, saith Jehovah, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I leave as a remnant.

³⁵ It shall be eighteen thousand [reeds] round about: and the name of the city from that day shall be, Jehovah is there.

² Take with you words, and return unto Jehovah: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and accept that which is good: so will we render [as] bullocks [the offering of] our lips. ³ Assyria shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses; neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, [Ye are] our gods; for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.
⁴ I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely; for mine anger is turned away from him.

¹⁸ Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth over the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in lovingkindness. ¹⁹ He will again have compassion upon us; he will tread our iniquities under foot; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. ²⁰ Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, [and] the lovingkindness to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.

²³ Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,
And they shall call his name Immanuel;
which is, being interpreted,
God with us.

³⁷ And as he was now drawing nigh, [even] at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen; ³⁸ saying, Blessed [is] the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

⁷ [saying],
Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered. ⁸ Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not reckon sin.

¹⁴ For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under law, but under grace.

¹ There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus.

¹⁴ But thanks be unto God, who always leadeth us in triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest through us the savor of his knowledge in every place.

¹⁹ to wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, not reckoning unto them their trespasses, and having committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

¹⁶ And what agreement hath a temple of God with idols? for we are a temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

¹⁶ but in very deed for this cause have I made thee to stand, to show thee my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

¹⁸ And the Egyptians shall know that I am Jehovah, when I have gotten me honor upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

² I am Jehovah thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

⁵ And he sent messengers unto Balaam the son of Beor, to Pethor, which is by the River, to the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me.

⁸ God bringeth him forth out of Egypt;
He hath as it were the strength of the wild-ox:
He shall eat up the nations his adversaries,
And shall break their bones in pieces,
And smite [them] through with his arrows.

¹⁷ The firstling of his herd, majesty is his;
And his horns are the horns of the wild-ox:
With them he shall push the peoples all of them, [even] the ends of the earth:
And they are the ten thousands of Ephraim,
And they are the thousands of Manasseh.

⁹ Will the wild-ox be content to serve thee?
Or will he abide by thy crib? ¹⁰ Canst thou bind the wild-ox with his band in the furrow?
Or will he harrow the valleys after thee? ¹¹ Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great?
Or wilt thou leave to him thy labor?

²¹ Save me from the lion's mouth;
Yea, from the horns of the wild-oxen thou hast answered me.

³⁵ O God, [thou art] terrible out of thy holy places:
The God of Israel, he giveth strength and power unto [his] people.
Blessed be God.

¹⁰ But my horn hast thou exalted like [the horn of] the wild-ox:
I am anointed with fresh oil.

¹⁵ and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

⁶ Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land; for I know that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.
⁷ And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.

²² Balaam also the son of Beor, the soothsayer, did the children of Israel slay with the sword among the rest of their slain.

Which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee,
Which thou hast wrought for them that take refuge in thee,

Our fathers have told us,
What work thou didst in their days,
In the days of old. ² Thou didst drive out the nations with thy hand;
But them thou didst plant:
Thou didst afflict the peoples;
But them thou didst spread abroad. ³ For they gat not the land in possession by their own sword,
Neither did their own arm save them;
But thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance,
Because thou wast favorable unto them.

⁹ And all men shall fear;
And they shall declare the work of God,
And shall wisely consider of his doing.

² Then was our mouth filled with laughter,
And our tongue with singing:
Then said they among the nations,
Jehovah hath done great things for them. ³ Jehovah hath done great things for us,
[Whereof] we are glad.

¹³ To him that divided the Red Sea in sunder;
For his lovingkindness [endureth] for ever; ¹⁴ And made Israel to pass through the midst of it;
For his lovingkindness [endureth] for ever; ¹⁵ But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red Sea;

⁴ Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I, Jehovah, the first, and with the last, I am he.

⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.
¹⁰ But they rebelled, and grieved his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, [and] himself fought against them. ¹¹ Then he remembered the days of old, Moses [and] his people, [saying], Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit in the midst of them? ¹² that caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses? that divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name?

¹⁵ And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

⁴ For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of bondage; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. ⁵ O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him; [remember] from Shittim unto Gilgal, that ye may know the righteous acts of Jehovah.

¹⁵ As in the days of thy coming forth out of the land of Egypt will I show unto them marvellous things.

²⁵ And knowing their thoughts he said unto them, { Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

²⁷ And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.

¹⁸ And I also say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

¹⁸ And he said unto them, { I beheld Satan fallen as lightning from heaven. ¹⁹ Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall in any wise hurt you.

⁴⁷ The chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many signs.

¹⁶ saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been wrought through them, is manifest to all that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

¹² And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

¹⁴ and believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women;

³⁸ [even] Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

¹² And all the multitude kept silence; and they hearkened unto Barnabas and Paul rehearsing what signs and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles through them.

²⁰ And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

²³ but they only heard say, He that once persecuted us now preacheth the faith of which he once made havoc; ²⁴ and they glorified God in me.

⁸ For from you hath sounded forth the word of the Lord, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith to God-ward is gone forth; so that we need not to speak anything. ⁹ For they themselves report concerning us what manner of entering in we had unto you; and how ye turned unto God from idols, to serve a living and true God,

⁹ And the great dragon was cast down, the old serpent, he that is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world; he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.

⁹ Judah is a lion's whelp;
From the prey, my son, thou art gone up:
He stooped down, he couched as a lion,
And as a lioness; who shall rouse him up?

²⁷ Benjamin is a wolf that raveneth:
In the morning he shall devour the prey,
And at even he shall divide the spoil.

⁸ God bringeth him forth out of Egypt;
He hath as it were the strength of the wild-ox:
He shall eat up the nations his adversaries,

¹⁷ I see him, but not now;
I behold him, but not nigh:
There shall come forth a star out of Jacob,
And a sceptre shall rise out of Israel,
And shall smite through the corners of Moab,
And break down all the sons of tumult.

²⁰ And of Gad he said,
Blessed be he that enlargeth Gad:
He dwelleth as a lioness,
And teareth the arm, yea, the crown of the head.

¹² He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey,
And as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

³⁰ The lion, which is mightiest among beasts,
And turneth not away for any;

⁴ For thus saith Jehovah unto me, As the lion and the young lion growling over his prey, if a multitude of shepherds be called forth against him, will not be dismayed at their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so will Jehovah of hosts come down to fight upon mount Zion, and upon the hill thereof.

⁴⁴ And in the days of those kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall the sovereignty thereof be left to another people; but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

⁸ The lion hath roared; who will not fear? The Lord Jehovah hath spoken; who can but prophesy?

⁸ And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep; who, if he go through, treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and there is none to deliver. ⁹ Let thy hand be lifted up above thine adversaries, and let all thine enemies be cut off.

¹¹ Where is the den of the lions, and the feeding-place of the young lions, where the lion [and] the lioness walked, the lion's whelp, and none made them afraid?

⁴ From him shall come forth the corner-stone, from him the nail, from him the battle bow, from him every ruler together. ⁵ And they shall be as mighty men, treading down [their enemies] in the mire of the streets in the battle; and they shall fight, because Jehovah is with them; and the riders on horses shall be confounded.

⁶ In that day will I make the chieftains of Judah like a pan of fire among wood, and like a flaming torch among sheaves; and they shall devour all the peoples round about, on the right hand and on the left; and [they of] Jerusalem shall yet again dwell in their own place, even in Jerusalem.

⁵ and one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not; behold, the Lion that is of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath overcome to open the book and the seven seals thereof.

¹¹ And I saw the heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and he that sat thereon called Faithful and True; and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. ¹² And his eyes [are] a flame of fire, and upon his head [are] many diadems; and he hath a name written which no one knoweth but he himself. ¹³ And he [is] arrayed in a garment sprinkled with blood: and his name is called The Word of God. ¹⁴ And the armies which are in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white [and] pure. ¹⁵ And out of his mouth proceedeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty. ¹⁶ And he hath on his garment and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
¹⁷ And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in mid heaven, Come [and] be gathered together unto the great supper of God; ¹⁸ that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses and of them that sit thereon, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, and small and great.
¹⁹ And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat upon the horse, and against his army. ²⁰ And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought the signs in his sight, wherewith he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast and them that worshipped his image: they two were cast alive into the lake of fire that burneth with brimstone: ²¹ and the rest were killed with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, [even the sword] which came forth out of his mouth: and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

¹ Why do the nations rage,
And the peoples meditate a vain thing? ² The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, [saying], ³ Let us break their bonds asunder,
And cast away their cords from us.

¹² And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which Jehovah putteth in my mouth?
¹³ And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them; thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence.

¹² And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers that thou sentest unto me, saying, ¹³ If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of Jehovah, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; what Jehovah speaketh, that will I speak?

¹⁴ And Micaiah said, As Jehovah liveth, what Jehovah saith unto me, that will I speak.

¹³ And Micaiah said, As Jehovah liveth, what my God saith, that will I speak.

¹⁹ But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it is right in the sight of God to hearken unto you rather than unto God, judge ye: ²⁰ for we cannot but speak the things which we saw and heard.

²⁹ But Peter and the apostles answered and said, We must obey God rather than men.

¹³ And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them; thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence.

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie,
Neither the son of man, that he should repent:
Hath he said, and will he not do it?
Or hath he spoken, and will he not make it good? ²⁰ Behold, I have received [commandment] to bless:
And he hath blessed, and I cannot reverse it.

¹³ But he is in one [mind], and who can turn him?
And what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

²¹ There are many devices in a man's heart;
But the counsel of Jehovah, that shall stand.

³⁰ There is no wisdom nor understanding
Nor counsel against Jehovah.

²⁷ For Jehovah of hosts hath purposed, and who shall annul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

¹⁰ declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not [yet] done; saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure; ¹¹ calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country; yea, I have spoken, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed, I will also do it.

²⁸ They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor,
And ate the sacrifices of the dead.
