¹⁸ The wicked earneth deceitful wages;
But he that soweth righteousness [hath] a sure reward.

¹³ This is the portion of a wicked man with God,
And the heritage of oppressors, which they receive from the Almighty: ¹⁴ If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword;
And his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread. ¹⁵ Those that remain of him shall be buried in death,
And his widows shall make no lamentation. ¹⁶ Though he heap up silver as the dust,
And prepare raiment as the clay; ¹⁷ He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on,
And the innocent shall divide the silver. ¹⁸ He buildeth his house as the moth,
And as a booth which the keeper maketh. ¹⁹ He lieth down rich, but he shall not be gathered [to his fathers];
He openeth his eyes, and he is not. ²⁰ Terrors overtake him like waters;
A tempest stealeth him away in the night. ²¹ The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth;
And it sweepeth him out of his place. ²² For [God] shall hurl at him, and not spare:
He would fain flee out of his hand. ²³ Men shall clap their hands at him,
And shall hiss him out of his place.

⁵ They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. ⁶ He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing seed for sowing,
Shall doubtless come again with joy, bringing his sheaves [with him].

¹⁸ And these lay wait for their own blood;
They lurk privily for their own lives.

²² His own iniquities shall take the wicked,
And he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.

⁸ He that soweth iniquity shall reap calamity;
And the rod of his wrath shall fail.

⁸ He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh through a wall, a serpent shall bite him.

⁵ They hatch adders' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth; and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper. ⁶ Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands. ⁷ Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; desolation and destruction are in their paths. ⁸ The way of peace they know not; and there is no justice in their goings: they have made them crooked paths; whosoever goeth therein doth not know peace.

¹² Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap according to kindness; break up your fallow ground; for it is time to seek Jehovah, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. ¹³ Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies; for thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.

⁸ For he that soweth unto his own flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth unto the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap eternal life. ⁹ And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

²² that ye put away, as concerning your former manner of life, the old man, that waxeth corrupt after the lusts of deceit;

¹⁸ And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for them that make peace.
