The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament showeth his handiwork. ² Day unto day uttereth speech,
And night unto night showeth knowledge. ³ There is no speech nor language;
Their voice is not heard. ⁴ Their line is gone out through all the earth,
And their words to the end of the world.
In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, ⁵ Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
And rejoiceth as a strong man to run his course. ⁶ His going forth is from the end of the heavens,
And his circuit unto the ends of it;
And there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
⁷ The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul:
The testimony of Jehovah is sure, making wise the simple. ⁸ The precepts of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart:
The commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes. ⁹ The fear of Jehovah is clean, enduring for ever:
The ordinances of Jehovah are true, [and] righteous altogether. ¹⁰ More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the droppings of the honeycomb. ¹¹ Moreover by them is thy servant warned:
In keeping them there is great reward. ¹² Who can discern [his] errors?
Clear thou me from hidden [faults]. ¹³ Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous [sins];
Let them not have dominion over me:
Then shall I be upright,
And I shall be clear from great transgression. ¹⁴ Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in thy sight, O Jehovah, my rock, and my redeemer.

⁶ And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. ⁷ And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. ⁸ And God called the firmament Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.

¹⁴ And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years: ¹⁵ and let them be for lights in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

³ When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers,
The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

⁶ By the word of Jehovah were the heavens made,
And all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

⁶ And the heavens shall declare his righteousness;
For God is judge himself. [Selah

¹⁶ The heavens are the heavens of Jehovah;
But the earth hath he given to the children of men.

³ Praise ye him, sun and moon:
Praise him, all ye stars of light. ⁴ Praise him, ye heavens of heavens,
And ye waters that are above the heavens.

¹ Praise ye Jehovah.
Praise God in his sanctuary:
Praise him in the firmament of his power. ² Praise him for his mighty acts:
Praise him according to his excellent greatness.

²² [It is] he that sitteth above the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in; ²³ that bringeth princes to nothing; that maketh the judges of the earth as vanity. ²⁴ Yea, they have not been planted; yea, they have not been sown; yea, their stock hath not taken root in the earth: moreover he bloweth upon them, and they wither, and the whirlwind taketh them away as stubble. ²⁵ To whom then will ye liken me, that I should be equal [to him]? saith the Holy One. ²⁶ Lift up your eyes on high, and see who hath created these, that bringeth out their host by number; he calleth them all by name; by the greatness of his might, and for that he is strong in power, not one is lacking.

¹¹ Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, these shall perish from the earth, and from under the heavens.
¹² He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding hath he stretched out the heavens.

³ And they that are wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

¹⁹ because that which is known of God is manifest in them; for God manifested it unto them. ²⁰ For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, [even] his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse:

¹⁷ And God set them in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth, ¹⁸ and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

²² While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

²⁰ And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. ²¹ And Miriam answered them,
Sing ye to Jehovah, for he hath triumphed gloriously;
The horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

⁷ Lift up your heads, O ye gates;
And be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors:
And the King of glory will come in. ⁸ Who is the King of glory?
Jehovah strong and mighty,
Jehovah mighty in battle. ⁹ Lift up your heads, O ye gates;
Yea, lift them up, ye everlasting doors:
And the King of glory will come in. ¹⁰ Who is this King of glory?
Jehovah of hosts,
He is the King of glory. [Selah

¹⁶ The day is thine, the night also is thine:
Thou hast prepared the light and the sun.

³ Which we have heard and known,
And our fathers have told us. ⁴ We will not hide them from their children,
Telling to the generation to come the praises of Jehovah,
And his strength, and his wondrous works that he hath done. ⁵ For he established a testimony in Jacob,
And appointed a law in Israel,
Which he commanded our fathers,
That they should make them known to their children; ⁶ That the generation to come might know [them], even the children that should be born;
Who should arise and tell [them] to their children,

Behold, bless ye Jehovah, all ye servants of Jehovah,
That by night stand in the house of Jehovah. ² Lift up your hands to the sanctuary,
And bless ye Jehovah. ³ Jehovah bless thee out of Zion;
Even he that made heaven and earth.

⁸ The sun to rule by day;
For his lovingkindness [endureth] for ever; ⁹ The moon and stars to rule by night;
For his lovingkindness [endureth] for ever:

¹² Both young men and virgins;
Old men and children:

¹⁹ The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day:
The father to the children shall make known thy truth.

¹⁹ and lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the host of heaven, thou be drawn away and worship them, and serve them, which Jehovah thy God hath allotted unto all the peoples under the whole heaven.

¹⁴ And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years: ¹⁵ and let them be for lights in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. ¹⁶ And God made the two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: [he made] the stars also.

³ He hath remembered his lovingkindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel:
All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

² Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment;
Who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain;

⁶ yea, he saith, It is too light a thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

² But unto you that fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings; and ye shall go forth, and gambol as calves of the stall.

¹⁸ But I say, Did they not hear? Yea, verily,
Their sound went out into all the earth,
And their words unto the ends of the world.

¹³ But we will not glory beyond [our] measure, but according to the measure of the province which God apportioned to us as a measure, to reach even unto you. ¹⁴ For we stretch not ourselves overmuch, as though we reached not unto you: for we came even as far as unto you in the gospel of Christ: ¹⁵ not glorying beyond [our] measure, [that is], in other men's labors; but having hope that, as your faith groweth, we shall be magnified in you according to our province unto [further] abundance, ¹⁶ so as to preach the gospel even unto the parts beyond you, [and] not to glory in another's province in regard of things ready to our hand.

⁵ The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to its place where it ariseth.

¹⁰ I will greatly rejoice in Jehovah, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with a garland, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

⁵ For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee; and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.

²⁹ He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, that standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is made full.

²⁴ Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain. ²⁵ And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they [do it] to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. ²⁶ I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air:

¹³ Brethren, I count not myself yet to have laid hold: but one thing [I do], forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before. ¹⁴ I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

¹ Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, ² looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of [our] faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

¹⁴ Thick clouds are a covering to him, so that he seeth not;
And he walketh on the vault of heaven.

³ Is there any number of his armies?
And upon whom doth not his light arise?

³ From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same
Jehovah's name is to be praised.

⁹ If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

²³ if so be that ye continue in the faith, grounded and stedfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel which ye heard, which was preached in all creation under heaven; whereof I Paul was made a minister.

⁶ And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart; ⁷ and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. ⁸ And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be for frontlets between thine eyes. ⁹ And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates.

¹⁸ And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book, out of [that which is] before the priests the Levites: ¹⁹ and it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life; that he may learn to fear Jehovah his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them; ²⁰ that his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children, in the midst of Israel.

⁴ The Rock, his work is perfect;
For all his ways are justice:
A God of faithfulness and without iniquity,
Just and right is he.

⁸ This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate thereon day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

⁵ Verily my house is not so with God;
Yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant,
Ordered in all things, and sure:
For it is all my salvation, and all [my] desire,
Although he maketh it not to grow.

¹² I have not gone back from the commandment of his lips;
I have treasured up the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

³⁰ As for God, his way is perfect:
The word of Jehovah is tried;
He is a shield unto all them that take refuge in him.

³ He restoreth my soul:
He guideth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Give ear, O my people, to my law:
Incline your ears to the words of my mouth. ² I will open my mouth in a parable;
I will utter dark sayings of old, ³ Which we have heard and known,
And our fathers have told us. ⁴ We will not hide them from their children,
Telling to the generation to come the praises of Jehovah,
And his strength, and his wondrous works that he hath done. ⁵ For he established a testimony in Jacob,
And appointed a law in Israel,
Which he commanded our fathers,
That they should make them known to their children; ⁶ That the generation to come might know [them], even the children that should be born;
Who should arise and tell [them] to their children, ⁷ That they might set their hope in God,
And not forget the works of God,
But keep his commandments,

⁵ Thy testimonies are very sure:
Holiness becometh thy house, O Jehovah, for evermore.

⁷ The works of his hands are truth and justice;
All his precepts are sure.

Wherewith shall a young man cleanse his way?
By taking heed [thereto] according to thy word.

¹⁴ I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies,
As much as in all riches.

²⁴ Thy testimonies also are my delight
[And] my counsellors.

⁷² The law of thy mouth is better unto me
Than thousands of gold and silver.

⁹⁶ I have seen an end of all perfection;
[But] thy commandment is exceeding broad.
⁹⁷ MEM.

Oh how love I thy law!
It is my meditation all the day. ⁹⁸ Thy commandments make me wiser than mine enemies;
For they are ever with me. ⁹⁹ I have more understanding than all my teachers;
For thy testimonies are my meditation. ¹⁰⁰ I understand more than the aged,
Because I have kept thy precepts.

¹⁰⁵ NUN.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,
And light unto my path.

¹¹¹ Thy testimonies have I taken as a heritage for ever;
For they are the rejoicing of my heart.

¹²⁷ Therefore I love thy commandments
Above gold, yea, above fine gold. ¹²⁸ Therefore I esteem all [thy] precepts concerning all [things] to be right; [And] I hate every false way.

¹³⁰ The opening of thy words giveth light;
It giveth understanding unto the simple.

¹⁵² Of old have I known from thy testimonies,
That thou hast founded them for ever.

¹⁹ He showeth his word unto Jacob,
His statutes and his ordinances unto Israel. ²⁰ He hath not dealt so with any nation;
And as for his ordinances, they have not known them.
Praise ye Jehovah.

⁴ To give prudence to the simple,
To the young man knowledge and discretion:

²² How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity?
And scoffers delight them in scoffing,
And fools hate knowledge? ²³ Turn you at my reproof:
Behold, I will pour out my spirit upon you;
I will make known my words unto you.

¹⁶ Bind thou up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

²⁰ To the law and to the testimony! if they speak not according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.

³² What he hath seen and heard, of that he beareth witness; and no man receiveth his witness. ³³ He that hath received his witness hath set his seal to [this], that God is true.

³⁹ Ye search the scriptures, because ye think that in them ye have eternal life; and these are they which bear witness of me;

⁴³ To him bear all the prophets witness, that through his name every one that believeth on him shall receive remission of sins.

² Much every way: first of all, that they were intrusted with the oracles of God.

² And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

⁴ For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that through patience and through comfort of the scriptures we might have hope.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms [and] hymns [and] spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts unto God.

⁸ Be not ashamed therefore of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but suffer hardship with the gospel according to the power of God;

¹⁹ Howbeit the firm foundation of God standeth, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his: and, Let every one that nameth the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.

¹⁵ and that from a babe thou hast known the sacred writings which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ Every scripture inspired of God [is] also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness: ¹⁷ that the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.

¹⁸ that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us: ¹⁹ which we have as an anchor of the soul, [a hope] both sure and stedfast and entering into that which is within the veil;

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, neither shadow that is cast by turning.

²¹ Wherefore putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. ²² But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves. ²³ For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror: ²⁴ for he beholdeth himself, and goeth away, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. ²⁵ But he that looketh into the perfect law, the [law] of liberty, and [so] continueth, being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing.

⁹ If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for the witness of God is this, that he hath borne witness concerning his Son. ¹⁰ He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in him: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he hath not believed in the witness that God hath borne concerning his Son. ¹¹ And the witness is this, that God gave unto us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that hath the Son hath the life; he that hath not the Son of God hath not the life.

¹⁰ And I fell down before his feet to worship him. And he saith unto me, See thou do it not: I am a fellow-servant with thee and with thy brethren that hold the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

⁵ because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

¹⁶ when they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between a man and his neighbor, and I make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.

⁵ Behold, I have taught you statutes and ordinances, even as Jehovah my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the midst of the land whither ye go in to possess it. ⁶ Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, that shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

¹¹ then it shall come to pass that to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, thither shall ye bring all that I command you: your burnt-offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto Jehovah. ¹² And ye shall rejoice before Jehovah your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your men-servants, and your maid-servants, and the Levite that is within your gates, forasmuch as he hath no portion nor inheritance with you.

¹¹ and thou shalt rejoice before Jehovah thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy man-servant, and thy maid-servant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are in the midst of thee, in the place which Jehovah thy God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there.

¹⁴ and thou shalt rejoice in thy feast, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy man-servant, and thy maid-servant, and the Levite, and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates.

¹² And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.

¹³ Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments,

⁶ The words of Jehovah are pure words;
As silver tried in a furnace on the earth,
Purified seven times.

³ Consider [and] answer me, O Jehovah my God:
Lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the [sleep of] death;

⁸ I delight to do thy will, O my God;
Yea, thy law is within my heart.

⁴⁵ That they might keep his statutes,
And observe his laws.
Praise ye Jehovah.

¹² Blessed art thou, O Jehovah:
Teach me thy statutes.

¹⁶ I will delight myself in thy statutes:
I will not forget thy word.

⁴⁰ Behold, I have longed after thy precepts:
Quicken me in thy righteousness.

⁵⁴ Thy statutes have been my songs
In the house of my pilgrimage.

⁸⁰ Let my heart be perfect in thy statutes,
That I be not put to shame.

⁹² Unless thy law had been my delight,
I should then have perished in mine affliction.

¹²¹ AYIN.

I have done justice and righteousness:
Leave me not to mine oppressors.

¹²⁸ Therefore I esteem all [thy] precepts concerning all [things] to be right; [And] I hate every false way.

¹⁴³ Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me;
[Yet] thy commandments are my delight.

¹⁷¹ Let my lips utter praise;
For thou teachest me thy statutes.

⁶ For Jehovah giveth wisdom;
Out of his mouth [cometh] knowledge and understanding:

²³ For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light;
And reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

⁵ Every word of God is tried:
He is a shield unto them that take refuge in him.

⁵ Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou wast wroth, and we sinned: in them [have we been] of long time; and shall we be saved?

¹⁶ Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy words were unto me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by thy name, O Jehovah, God of hosts.

²⁷ And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep mine ordinances, and do them.

¹⁷ But if thou bearest the name of a Jew, and restest upon the law, and gloriest in God, ¹⁸ and knowest his will, and approvest the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law, ¹⁹ and art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them that are in darkness, ²⁰ a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth;

²⁰ because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight; for through the law [cometh] the knowledge of sin.

⁷ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Howbeit, I had not known sin, except through the law: for I had not known coveting, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet:

¹² So that the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and righteous, and good. ¹³ Did then that which is good become death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might be shown to be sin, by working death to me through that which is good;—that through the commandment sin might become exceeding sinful. ¹⁴ For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

²² For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

¹⁹ For I through the law died unto the law, that I might live unto God.

¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one who continueth not in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them. ¹¹ Now that no man is justified by the law before God, is evident: for, The righteous shall live by faith; ¹² and the law is not of faith; but, He that doeth them shall live in them. ¹³ Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us; for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

²¹ Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could make alive, verily righteousness would have been of the law.

¹² And he said, Lay not thy hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him; for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, from me.

¹⁸ And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live: for I fear God:

¹ Now these are the ordinances which thou shalt set before them.

⁸ And what great nation is there, that hath statutes and ordinances so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

²⁴ Only fear Jehovah, and serve him in truth with all your heart; for consider how great things he hath done for you.

³ And Ahab called Obadiah, who was over the household. (Now Obadiah feared Jehovah greatly: ⁴ for it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of Jehovah, that Obadiah took a hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)

¹² And it will come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of Jehovah will carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he will slay me: but I thy servant fear Jehovah from my youth.

¹⁵ But the former governors that were before me were chargeable unto the people, and took of them bread and wine, besides forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.

⁵ His ways are firm at all times;
Thy judgments are far above out of his sight:
As for all his adversaries, he puffeth at them.

¹¹ Come, ye children, hearken unto me:
I will teach you the fear of Jehovah. ¹² What man is he that desireth life,
And loveth [many] days, that he may see good? ¹³ Keep thy tongue from evil,
And thy lips from speaking guile. ¹⁴ Depart from evil, and do good;
Seek peace, and pursue it.

The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart,
There is no fear of God before his eyes.

⁶ Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God;
Thy judgments are a great deep:
O Jehovah, thou preservest man and beast.

¹ [A Psalm] of Solomon.

Give the king thy judgments, O God,
And thy righteousness unto the king's son. ² He will judge thy people with righteousness,
And thy poor with justice.

¹⁰ The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all they that do [his commandments]:
His praise endureth for ever.

¹³ He will bless them that fear Jehovah,
Both small and great.

¹ ALEPH.

Blessed are they that are perfect in the way,
Who walk in the law of Jehovah.

⁷ I will give thanks unto thee with uprightness of heart,
When I learn thy righteous judgments.

³⁹ Turn away my reproach whereof I am afraid;
For thine ordinances are good.

⁶² At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee
Because of thy righteous ordinances.

⁷⁵ I know, O Jehovah, that thy judgments are righteous,
And that in faithfulness thou hast afflicted me.

¹⁰⁶ I have sworn, and have confirmed it,
That I will observe thy righteous ordinances.

¹³⁷ TSADHE.

Righteous art thou, O Jehovah,
And upright are thy judgments. ¹³⁸ Thou hast commanded thy testimonies in righteousness
And very faithfulness.

¹⁴² Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness,
And thy law is truth.

¹⁹ He showeth his word unto Jacob,
His statutes and his ordinances unto Israel.

¹³ The fear of Jehovah is to hate evil:
Pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way,
And the perverse mouth, do I hate.

⁸ Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Jehovah, have we waited for thee; to thy name, even to thy memorial [name], is the desire of our soul.

²² And they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man and one that feareth God, and well reported of by all the nation of the Jews, was warned [of God] by a holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words from thee.

² And we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against them that practise such things.

¹⁰ as it is written,
There is none righteous, no, not one; ¹¹ There is none that understandeth,
There is none that seeketh after God; ¹² They have all turned aside, they are together become unprofitable;
There is none that doeth good, no, not so much as one: ¹³ Their throat is an open sepulchre;
With their tongues they have used deceit:
The poison of asps is under their lips: ¹⁴ Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: ¹⁵ Their feet are swift to shed blood; ¹⁶ Destruction and misery are in their ways; ¹⁷ And the way of peace have they not known: ¹⁸ There is no fear of God before their eyes.

²² Behold then the goodness and severity of God: toward them that fell, severity; but toward thee, God's goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

³ And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,
Great and marvellous are thy works, O Lord God, the Almighty; righteous and true are thy ways, thou King of the ages.

⁷ And I heard the altar saying, Yea, O Lord God, the Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.

² for true and righteous are his judgments; for he hath judged the great harlot, her that corrupted the earth with her fornication, and he hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

²⁶ And when the people were come unto the forest, behold, the honey dropped: but no man put his hand to his mouth; for the people feared the oath. ²⁷ But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath: wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in the honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened. ²⁸ Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth food this day. And the people were faint. ²⁹ Then said Jonathan, My father hath troubled the land: see, I pray you, how mine eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.

¹⁵ It cannot be gotten for gold,
Neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof. ¹⁶ It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir,
With the precious onyx, or the sapphire. ¹⁷ Gold and glass cannot equal it,
Neither shall it be exchanged for jewels of fine gold.

⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness;
And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips;

¹⁰³ How sweet are thy words unto my taste!
[Yea, sweeter] than honey to my mouth!

¹²⁷ Therefore I love thy commandments
Above gold, yea, above fine gold.

¹³ Happy is the man that findeth wisdom,
And the man that getteth understanding. ¹⁴ For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver,
And the profit thereof than fine gold. ¹⁵ She is more precious than rubies:
And none of the things thou canst desire are to be compared unto her.

¹⁰ Receive my instruction, and not silver;
And knowledge rather than choice gold. ¹¹ For wisdom is better than rubies;
And all the things that may be desired are not to be compared unto it.

¹⁹ My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold;
And my revenue than choice silver.

¹⁶ How much better is it to get wisdom than gold!
Yea, to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver.

¹³ My son, eat thou honey, for it is good;
And the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to thy taste:

¹⁰ And whensoever any controversy shall come to you from your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and ordinances, ye shall warn them, that they be not guilty towards Jehovah, and so wrath come upon you and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not be guilty.

¹¹ Thy word have I laid up in my heart,
That I might not sin against thee.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand;
In her left hand are riches and honor. ¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
And all her paths are peace. ¹⁸ She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her:
And happy is every one that retaineth her.

²² When thou walkest, it shall lead thee;
When thou sleepest, it shall watch over thee;
And when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. ²³ For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light;
And reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

¹⁸ The wicked earneth deceitful wages;
But he that soweth righteousness [hath] a sure reward.

¹⁸ Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint;
But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

¹⁰ Say ye of the righteous, that [it shall be] well [with him]; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. ¹¹ Woe unto the wicked! [it shall be] ill [with him]; for what his hands have done shall be done unto him.

¹⁷ Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. ¹⁸ When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thy hand. ¹⁹ Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. ²⁰ Again, when a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thy hand. ²¹ Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he took warning; and thou hast delivered thy soul.

³ if, when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; ⁴ then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning, if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. ⁵ He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him; whereas if he had taken warning, he would have delivered his soul. ⁶ But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned, and the sword come, and take any person from among them; he is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.
⁷ So thou, son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. ⁸ When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die, and thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way; that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at thy hand. ⁹ Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it, and he turn not from his way; he shall die in his iniquity, but thou hast delivered thy soul.

⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said unto them, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

⁴ that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.

⁶ But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thine inner chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.

¹⁸ that thou be not seen of men to fast, but of thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall recompense thee.

³¹ Wherefore watch ye, remembering that by the space of three years I ceased not to admonish every one night and day with tears.

¹⁴ I write not these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.

¹⁴ And we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be longsuffering toward all.

⁶ and without faith it is impossible to be well-pleasing [unto him]; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that seek after him. ⁷ By faith Noah, being warned [of God] concerning things not seen as yet, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; through which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

²⁶ accounting the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt: for he looked unto the recompense of reward.

²⁵ But he that looketh into the perfect law, the [law] of liberty, and [so] continueth, being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing.

⁸ Look to yourselves, that ye lose not the things which we have wrought, but that ye receive a full reward.

¹³ And I heard a voice from heaven saying, Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth: yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; for their works follow with them.

² Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any one shall sin unwittingly, in any of the things which Jehovah hath commanded not to be done, and shall do any one of them: ³ if the anointed priest shall sin so as to bring guilt on the people, then let him offer for his sin, which he hath sinned, a young bullock without blemish unto Jehovah for a sin-offering. ⁴ And he shall bring the bullock unto the door of the tent of meeting before Jehovah; and he shall lay his hand upon the head of the bullock, and kill the bullock before Jehovah. ⁵ And the anointed priest shall take of the blood of the bullock, and bring it to the tent of meeting: ⁶ and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle of the blood seven times before Jehovah, before the veil of the sanctuary. ⁷ And the priest shall put of the blood upon the horns of the altar of sweet incense before Jehovah, which is in the tent of meeting; and all the blood of the bullock shall he pour out at the base of the altar of burnt-offering, which is at the door of the tent of meeting. ⁸ And all the fat of the bullock of the sin-offering he shall take off from it; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards, ⁹ and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the loins, and the caul upon the liver, with the kidneys, shall he take away, ¹⁰ as it is taken off from the ox of the sacrifice of peace-offerings: and the priest shall burn them upon the altar of burnt-offering. ¹¹ And the skin of the bullock, and all its flesh, with its head, and with its legs, and its inwards, and its dung, ¹² even the whole bullock shall he carry forth without the camp unto a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn it on wood with fire: where the ashes are poured out shall it be burnt.
¹³ And if the whole congregation of Israel err, and the thing be hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done any of the things which Jehovah hath commanded not to be done, and are guilty; ¹⁴ when the sin wherein they have sinned is known, then the assembly shall offer a young bullock for a sin-offering, and bring it before the tent of meeting. ¹⁵ And the elders of the congregation shall lay their hands upon the head of the bullock before Jehovah; and the bullock shall be killed before Jehovah. ¹⁶ And the anointed priest shall bring of the blood of the bullock to the tent of meeting: ¹⁷ and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle it seven times before Jehovah, before the veil. ¹⁸ And he shall put of the blood upon the horns of the altar which is before Jehovah, that is in the tent of meeting; and all the blood shall he pour out at the base of the altar of burnt-offering, which is at the door of the tent of meeting. ¹⁹ And all the fat thereof shall he take off from it, and burn it upon the altar. ²⁰ Thus shall he do with the bullock; as he did with the bullock of the sin-offering, so shall he do with this; and the priest shall make atonement for them, and they shall be forgiven. ²¹ And he shall carry forth the bullock without the camp, and burn it as he burned the first bullock: it is the sin-offering for the assembly.
²² When a ruler sinneth, and doeth unwittingly any one of all the things which Jehovah his God hath commanded not to be done, and is guilty; ²³ if his sin, wherein he hath sinned, be made known to him, he shall bring for his oblation a goat, a male without blemish. ²⁴ And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt-offering before Jehovah: it is a sin-offering. ²⁵ And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin-offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt-offering; and the blood thereof shall he pour out at the base of the altar of burnt-offering. ²⁶ And all the fat thereof shall he burn upon the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace-offerings; and the priest shall make atonement for him as concerning his sin, and he shall be forgiven.
²⁷ And if any one of the common people sin unwittingly, in doing any of the things which Jehovah hath commanded not to be done, and be guilty; ²⁸ if his sin, which he hath sinned, be made known to him, then he shall bring for his oblation a goat, a female without blemish, for his sin which he hath sinned. ²⁹ And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin-offering, and kill the sin-offering in the place of burnt-offering. ³⁰ And the priest shall take of the blood thereof with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt-offering; and all the blood thereof shall he pour out at the base of the altar. ³¹ And all the fat thereof shall he take away, as the fat is taken away from off the sacrifice of peace-offerings; and the priest shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savor unto Jehovah; and the priest shall make atonement for him, and he shall be forgiven.
³² And if he bring a lamb as his oblation for a sin-offering, he shall bring it a female without blemish. ³³ And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin-offering, and kill it for a sin-offering in the place where they kill the burnt-offering. ³⁴ And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin-offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt-offering; and all the blood thereof shall he pour out at the base of the altar. ³⁵ And all the fat thereof shall he take away, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of peace-offerings; and the priest shall burn them on the altar, upon the offerings of Jehovah made by fire; and the priest shall make atonement for him as touching his sin that he hath sinned, and he shall be forgiven.

²⁴ Teach me, and I will hold my peace;
And cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

¹² For innumerable evils have compassed me about;
Mine iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up;
They are more than the hairs of my head;
And my heart hath failed me.

² Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin.

⁵ Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity;
And in sin did my mother conceive me. ⁶ Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts;
And in the hidden part thou wilt make me to know wisdom. ⁷ Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean:
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. ⁸ Make me to hear joy and gladness,
That the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. ⁹ Hide thy face from my sins,
And blot out all mine iniquities. ¹⁰ Create in me a clean heart, O God;
And renew a right spirit within me.

³ Iniquities prevail against me:
As for our transgressions, thou wilt forgive them.

⁸ Thou hast set our iniquities before thee,
Our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

² Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising;
Thou understandest my thought afar off.

⁶ [Such] knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is high, I cannot attain unto it.

²³ Search me, O God, and know my heart:
Try me, and know my thoughts; ²⁴ And see if there be any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.

⁶ For we are all become as one that is unclean, and all our righteousnesses are as a polluted garment: and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

⁹ The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it?

⁴ For I know nothing against myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

⁷ but into the second the high priest alone, once in the year, not without blood, which he offereth for himself, and for the errors of the people:

⁷ but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

⁶ And God said unto him in the dream, Yea, I know that in the integrity of thy heart thou has done this, and I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

¹⁴ And if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbor, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.

³⁰ But the soul that doeth aught with a high hand, whether he be home-born or a sojourner, the same blasphemeth Jehovah; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people. ³¹ Because he hath despised the word of Jehovah, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.

¹² And the man that doeth presumptuously, in not hearkening unto the priest that standeth to minister there before Jehovah thy God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel. ¹³ And all the people shall hear, and fear, and do no more presumptuously.

³² And David said to Abigail, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, who sent thee this day to meet me: ³³ and blessed be thy discretion, and blessed be thou, that hast kept me this day from bloodguiltiness, and from avenging myself with mine own hand. ³⁴ For in very deed, as Jehovah, the God of Israel, liveth, who hath withholden me from hurting thee, except thou hadst hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light so much as one man-child.

³⁹ And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be Jehovah, that hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept back his servant from evil: and the evil-doing of Nabal hath Jehovah returned upon his own head. And David sent and spake concerning Abigail, to take her to him to wife.

¹³ So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against Jehovah, because of the word of Jehovah, which he kept not; and also for that he asked counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to inquire [thereby], ¹⁴ and inquired not of Jehovah: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.

¹⁰ My shield is with God,
Who saveth the upright in heart.

⁷ For Jehovah is righteous;
He loveth righteousness:
The upright shall behold his face.

²³ I was also perfect with him,
And I kept myself from mine iniquity.

¹¹ For Jehovah God is a sun and a shield:
Jehovah will give grace and glory;
No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

¹³³ Establish my footsteps in thy word;
And let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

¹⁶ Herein I also exercise myself to have a conscience void of offence toward God and men always.

¹² Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey the lusts thereof: ¹³ neither present your members unto sin [as] instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves unto God, as alive from the dead, and your members [as] instruments of righteousness unto God. ¹⁴ For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under law, but under grace.

¹⁶ Know ye not, that to whom ye present yourselves [as] servants unto obedience, his servants ye are whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? ¹⁷ But thanks be to God, that, whereas ye were servants of sin, ye became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereunto ye were delivered; ¹⁸ and being made free from sin, ye became servants of righteousness. ¹⁹ I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye presented your members [as] servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity, even so now present your members [as] servants to righteousness unto sanctification. ²⁰ For when ye were servants of sin, ye were free in regard of righteousness. ²¹ What fruit then had ye at that time in the things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. ²² But now being made free from sin and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end eternal life.

¹⁰ but chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of defilement, and despise dominion. Daring, self-willed, they tremble not to rail at dignities:

⁴ And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And Jehovah had respect unto Abel and to his offering: ⁵ but unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

²⁵ But as for me I know that my Redeemer liveth,
And at last he will stand up upon the earth:

¹ For the Chief Musician; with the Nehiloth. A Psalm of David.

Give ear to my words, O Jehovah,
Consider my meditation. ² Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God;
For unto thee do I pray.

¹ For the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David the servant of Jehovah, who spake unto Jehovah the words of this song in the day that Jehovah delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: and he said,

I love thee, O Jehovah, my strength. ² Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
My God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge;
My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

¹⁵ O Lord, open thou my lips;
And my mouth shall show forth thy praise.

¹⁸ If I regard iniquity in my heart,
The Lord will not hear: ¹⁹ But verily God hath heard;
He hath attended to the voice of my prayer. ²⁰ Blessed be God,
Who hath not turned away my prayer,
Nor his lovingkindness from me.

³⁴ Let thy meditation be sweet unto him:
I will rejoice in Jehovah.

¹⁰⁸ Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill-offerings of my mouth, O Jehovah,
And teach me thine ordinances.

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah;
But the prayer of the upright is his delight.

¹⁴ Thus saith Jehovah, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and I will bring down all of them as fugitives, even the Chaldeans, in the ships of their rejoicing.

⁶ Thus saith Jehovah, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, Jehovah of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last; and besides me there is no God.

⁴ Our Redeemer, Jehovah of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.

⁵ For thy Maker is thy husband; Jehovah of hosts is his name: and the Holy One of Israel is thy Redeemer; the God of the whole earth shall he be called.

¹⁶ that I should be a minister of Christ Jesus unto the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be made acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

¹⁰ and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, [even] Jesus, who delivereth us from the wrath to come.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own possession, zealous of good works.

⁴ By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he had witness borne to him that he was righteous, God bearing witness in respect of his gifts: and through it he being dead yet speaketh.

¹⁵ Through him then let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips which make confession to his name.

¹⁸ knowing that ye were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers; ¹⁹ but with precious blood, as of a lamb without spot, [even the blood] of Christ:

⁵ ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

⁹ And they sing a new song, saying,
Worthy art thou to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and didst purchase unto God with thy blood men of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation,
