¹⁵ He hath made a pit, and digged it,
And is fallen into the ditch which he made.

¹⁰ So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath pacified.

⁸ According as I have seen, they that plow iniquity,
And sow trouble, reap the same.

²⁷ Yea, ye would cast [lots] upon the fatherless,
And make merchandise of your friend.

¹⁵ The nations are sunk down in the pit that they made:
In the net which they hid is their own foot taken. ¹⁶ Jehovah hath made himself known, he hath executed judgment:
The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. [Higgaion.

² In the pride of the wicked the poor is hotly pursued;
Let them be taken in the devices that they have conceived.

⁷ For without cause have they hid for me their net [in] a pit;
Without cause have they digged [a pit] for my soul. ⁸ Let destruction come upon him unawares;
And let his net that he hath hid catch himself:
With destruction let him fall therein.

⁶ They have prepared a net for my steps;
My soul is bowed down:
They have digged a pit before me;
They are fallen into the midst thereof themselves. [Selah

¹³ That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity,
Until the pit be digged for the wicked.

⁸⁵ The proud have digged pits for me,
Who are not according to thy law.

⁹ As for the head of those that compass me about,
Let the mischief of their own lips cover them. ¹⁰ Let burning coals fall upon them:
Let them be cast into the fire,
Into deep pits, whence they shall not rise.

¹⁰ Let the wicked fall into their own nets,
Whilst that I withal escape.

²² His own iniquities shall take the wicked,
And he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.

²⁷ Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein;
And he that rolleth a stone, it shall return upon him.

⁸ He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh through a wall, a serpent shall bite him. ⁹ Whoso heweth out stones shall be hurt therewith; [and] he that cleaveth wood is endangered thereby.

²⁰ Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before thee to speak good for them, to turn away thy wrath from them.
